Visited a friends farm and had a chance to run around with his ram. Just when you think it's over, he gets too close for comfort. Wait for it!
This ram was very friendly and actually seemed to like having its head scratched. You can see around 1:00 mark, it lets me pet it but then starts hitting me in the leg. lol.

Ram was very clever. He came up to the man rubbed himself up to make himself adorable and tried hitting him when he was petting him.
Goats are like that in general. They have an irresistible urge to hit stuff. Keep an eye on them around children. My nieces and nephews were terrified of a female goat we had. btw it was hilarious.
I'll never understand how rams can be so mean and so friendly at the same damn time.
Have you been around rams? 🙂
When i was little i spend a few years living in a small rural town in Vic Australia. Right next to our house there was a small paddock where the neighbor kept a few cows and sheep including a ram. I was introduced to the ram when it was literally a baby and we pretty much grew up together and became best mates. Everyday i would jump the fence separating our yard from the paddock and go and play with my mate and give him lollies and licorice. One day (i was 7 at the time) i jumped the fence as usual when i notice a new resident happily grazing in the middle of the paddock, it was a big brown mule. My curiosity led me to approach the mule for a closer look. I’m not exactly sure why it happened but when i got closer the mule went feral and attacked me. He initially grabbed me in his mouth by the neck and tossed me in the air, he then bit down hard on my shoulder pinning me down on the ground and started stomping me with his front legs. I remember being in fetal position trying to protect myself, feeling all the biting and stomping, hearing the angry sounds the mule was making and i’m in total disbelief, it was like being in a dream. Then suddenly i hear a loud cracking noise, the mule instantly stops hurting me and then the ground shook followed by a thump. I heard my mother’s screams as she was running towards me and everything went black. I woke up in bed, all patched up and in pain.
As i found later by a few people who witnessed what had happened, i was saved by my mate the ram. When the mule attacked me the ram heard my screams and cry and rushed to my rescue. At the point where i was pinned down and the mule had his head lowered my mate attacked and placed a solid headbutt (the cracking noise i heard) to the mule. It was such a strong blow that the mule took a few steps sideways trickling like it was drunk before he drop down on the ground semi unconscious.
He was a fantastic animal, intelligent, kind, gentle and if it wasn’t for him i would be a goner.
Wow, very cool story!
John that's a friend
This is a really cool story I will tell my friend's grandson some day
"i was saved by my mate the ram."
You mean to say "friend", right? That word has another meaning. When you're talking about animals, it's usually the other meaning that people use when they use that word.
Hey John great feel good story ....thanks

Me too... Saved me multiple times.
Well why else are we told to speak softly and carry a big stick?
Sticks work for everything. Random dogs..cats..tigers..men..kids..eh..wack em all and run I say.
I just kick them in the face
Where do u keep the stick?
Just wondering..
Imagine the first time a human being realized he could control a wild beast with a tool as simple as a stick. What an incredible discovery that would be.
Top 10 question sciencetist can't answer
I think they always controlled them with or without sticks, I imagine with would be better though.
People back in the day had plenty of time to mess with animals and not much else to do so i guess they learned fast
I am pretty sure they didn't control the wild ancestors of domestic livestock. They either killed them or avoided them. Google Bezoar, Aurochs and wild boar.
I honestly think a ram would be the very least of their worries back in those days lol :D

Probably because ram was hit with a stick and now it's afraid
So, He is actually a Sorcerer, and the Stick is a Wand. Now I Get It!
the ram needs something solid to ram. he sees a stick but then he realizes its not hard enought to ram so it confuses him.
i'll bet it would work against a grizlly bear for the same reason. you just have to be smarter than the animals.
That's what the shepherd's crook is for. It's a big curved staff to hook and redirect sheep, but also to keep the ram's head up. That prevents their "ramming" instinct from kicking in. It's one thing I learned from homestead sheep raising books.
What cracked me up is how he definitely seems to enjoy the affection, but.. he also still wants to fight.
i got killed by a ram once but i survived it

it's logical because he's an undead.

That ram is playing. Goats love to play. I've actually sat and watched goats play with damn near every living thing on a farm.
I remember once I was attacked by a flock of sheep, initially only one. But when other sheep saw their friend ramming me, they joined and I was running like hell. Thank God, the shepherd came and rescued me.
What!! The ewes are supposed to be nice! Were you near a lamb?
@@consciouscoffeeplussugar2658 no, they were all adult sheep, and I was 12 at that time. I just wanted to pet one. I think he didn't like it 😅
"Poke it with a stick" is my favorite scientific approach. I've successfully used it to clear blocked septic lines on numerous occasions.
Don't think this ram was angry, he just wanted his head scratched
They are never angry. They just like to ram into things , aggressively.
Its like playing with the hulk. These things dont hold back while playing

If that was Chuck Norris the ram would be fetching that stick for him.
Nope, Chuck would've punched it in the face and had it say sorry after it came to😎
The ram would be too scared to even try to attack Chuck Norris.
Nope, Chuck would be ramming that ram while the ram carried the stick
Ram: "If you can't beat them, join them."😂
He was like “this is too much work-just pet me 🙄” 😂
The rams like "ok keep still.. don't move.. IM COMING TO GET YOU" *human makes pulls a stick from behind him*
Rams like "darn, I lost my concentration.. let me go back and try this again"
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what was happening. lol.
I spent my idyllic formative years on a 90-acre farm, including roughly 10+/- sheep at any given time, including 2 TOUGH rams, one Dorsett, one Suffolk. Beautiful animals (I much prefer sheep over cows), but I don't care if you spend all the time in the world with either ram, you ALWAYS had to keep your eye on them, because they innately WILL CHARGE YOU. But, as aggressive as the rams were, the ewes were VERY timid.
My dad had over a friend (Bob) of his (an electrician) to fix a light connection in the sheep stall, and my dad told Bob to not turn his back on the Suffolk. Bob just nodded and essentially said "yeah, yeah, yeah" and didn't take my dad's warning seriously. About a minute later, BAM!! That ram clocked Bob on his knee, and Bob went down like a shot, in a LOT of pain.
GUARANTEE Bob wouldn't do that again lol.
My whole family was laughing at "BAM!"
+Steve Cody I used to take my basketball and bounce it off of the Dorsett's head/horns (the Suffolk was much bigger, but had no horns), and it seemed like it increasingly enjoyed the "game" being played. Then after about 10 tosses, Snozzlepuss (Dorsett's name) took a couple more steps back, and when I again lightly tossed the ball at his head...HOME RUN! Ball went straight into the thorn bushes, about 10 feet behind me.
Larger point being, the Dorsett wasn't very large (maybe 80 pounds), but TOUGH and pound-for-pound VERY strong. One day my dad decided to let one of our bulls (Spooky), a once-sickly Angus-mix, into the back pasture with Snozzlepuss and some of the ewes. Spooky, while much smaller than a full Angus bull, had developed a really nasty attitude when it sprouted horns.
For the first 5-10 minutes, Spooky was having fun chasing all the sheep, then while chasing Snozzlepuss, among all the chaos, the ram's sudden reaction was like "Why am I running?" and immediately turned to face the bull, charged, and KA POW! Cold cocked that bull, and stopped it in its tracks. My dad was laughing his ass off, and I remember just looking on in awe. They're just impressive animals.
If had an animal like that in the barn and had to do some work, he'd be outside at the least, and restrained if I thought he'd take it as a challenge. Letting a goat or sheep think they're boss just encourages them.
Jarvis Family Yes EXACTLY! always make sure they know that YOU ARE THE BOSS! and not them, keep them in tight order and if they refuse then it's MINT SAUCE TIME! 😉😉
Herd animals aren't humans, but they're not stupid. If they're allowed to boss humans, they'll think that it's because they SHOULD boss humans around! And people need to understand their needs, because they can't tell you. We went to buy hay from a lady who kept goats, as do we. She had a little bottle baby running around, really cute, really friendly. But over in another fenced-in area she had her buck, all by himself. She complained that he was a "bad goat". I tried to explain to this woman that he was confined, in a small paddock, where he could *see* other goats and *hear* other goats, but he had no other goats to be close to, so the poor thing was going NUTS trying to have a herd to belong to! I told her, "Go get three cheap wethers, put them in there with your buck, and he'll calm right down". Don't know if she listened to me or not, but if she did she'd have a much happier buck and a much easier time caring for him. Our old buck, who always ran with the herd, was a kitten - as long as you weren't another goat. He'd tolerate the wethers butting heads with each other - but if they went after one of "his" does he'd give them one warning "Maaahhhh!", and if they didn't pay attention - WHAM! Somebody'd get knocked down, then he'd stand there and look at them as if to say, "I said 'knock it off' and I *meant* 'knock it off'". But with humans he was a good little boy, most of the time - and if he did get a bit overly rambunctious once in a while I'd grab his horn, hold his head by my leg, and go for a walk with him, same as I do with the even bigger wethers.
The ram was like scratch the head or get CRAMED😂😂
