I’ve been in major commercial construction or over 30 years and I can tell you that there are always milestones that you strive for, achieve by Gods strength, then you think “next milestone here I come!”. There’s been many highs and many lows but ya learn to give it to God! Love people, Love God!
Love your energy and your faith! Got a subscriber on this vid. I took my class c test two days ago and everything you said about study study study and then open the book and not recognizing anything is so true. P.s. by the grace of God I passed! Keep up the great videos!
Honestly Inspirational, I'm 16 and have slowly started swaying my Future towards Contracting. I have worked in Lawn Care with my own Business, But this is really starting to Catch my eye.
@ZeitlinBrothers It's been a wild ride. I went to college for a year and a half. I then moved away from home to get some space. I worked for Pepsi, Amazon, a Farm, and a Zoo. My last 2 jobs have been in sales, with a merchant services company and now with a car lot. The car lot is treating me horribly, so I'm actually quitting today. Yay! Life's beautiful, but it's a mess.
Jesse, You're a true inspiration! I started as a labor 3 years ago and love construction so much I worked 7 days a week for 18 months to keep learning and doing. Made it to a lull operator in 3 months then assistant super In 7 months and finally after all the ups and downs became a framing superintendent. all within that 18 month time frame. It's not for everyone but if you give yourself small goals to reach in a realistic time frame anything is possible. Now in 2019 as a framing business owner and master carpenter its definitely way different from being an "employee". But I dont regret any of the bad because God was and still is with me as I build my brand and life everyday. It also makes you more aware of how being the best you makes people want you more. I'm blessed to have a wonderful wife who believes in me when I dont belive in myself at times. And when you least expect it God is patiently waiting for your next move. Knock on those doors till one opens and get up no matter how many times you fail.
I subscribed for a reason, that was getting my own business started. I found your site on "Contractors License". Hearing your story was very uplifting and motivating for me. I have this thing about drawing, building, and seeing it come to life. It's something that makes me feel good. Any pointers would be great from anyone. Thank you for the video.
Amen and Amen bro! I once had a conversation with a very wealthy person in Beverly Hills and he said the secret to success is Attitude, Attitude, Attitude! And you have a great Attitude! Keep up the good work!
Hey man you are very inspirational. I have been a roofing contractor since 2015 and I find myself getting into bigger and bigger projects every year. This year I decided I was going to start studying to get my general contractors license. I just feel that it will come in handy someday. Anyway, thank you for the inspiration and you have a new subscriber.
Post office is a cool job, work there for 2 years (I was even about to be a supervisor). But I quit this August, in pursuit of something. Thank you for making this video. It has motivated me to switch paths and educate myself in the trades. At the end of the day we have to provide a solution to the problem, and do it right.
Your story is very inspirational. I am taking my Residential light commercial exam for the state of Georgia on the 27th of November. I watch your videos every time you upload keep up the good work wish you much success.
Im 22 , about to turn 23. I live in las Vegas NV so I've grown up seeing construction all around me and I love it. I went to a magnet school where my major was architecture, something that I wish I could've persuaded but do to economic circumstances I was not able to follow that dream. While I was in high school I had a part time job at shop where we built anything from custom kitchens, bars, restaurants, casinos, you name it. My first job out of high was structural steel out of state which I think is probably my favorite job because I just loved being in heights and welding. After that I came back home and got a job in carpentry again, this time with remodels. I liked it but I didnt feel I wasnt going to go anywhere with the company so I looked for another job. So I became a plant labor with one of the largest concrete providers in the US, calportland to be exact. There I didnt everything, learned to operated heavy equipment like wheel loaders and excavators, again I felt like I needed more so I became a mixer driver for them. I asked my plant manager to let me do more and earn more. Withing a week of the "go for it" I gave them my class A permit, and by the next two weeks when they had processed my paper work that I wasnt a labor anymore and now going to be a driver i handed them my actual class A drivers license. It's been a year since I started driving and again, I feel like it's probably not enough and now I want to get a contractor's license and start my own construction company. I just dont know how or where to start to get my contractors license.
Mr J you have given me the reason why I should be interested in construction. I am a student studying building technology in school. Can I please have a personal with you. I really want to learn especially the estimation aspect. please I need your help.
Thanks for doing this video! I really needed that to start my day. I am currently on this journey, and was letting some doubt creep in. Great add, I needed a YES you can, and a here is how.
I literally just took the initiative to become a contractor. Ways to go before I get there but You just inspired me to study and feel hopeful that God will guide my every step. Thank you! God bless and wish your business keeps thriving.
I'm 41 and I'm impressed. I've been in construction for 25 years. Started with the family business at 16. Went on to bigger companies and have been a PM/ Estimator for a mid size DOD contractor for the last 8.5 years and the GM for the last 5. I'm studying for my GC (KB1) license in Arizona. I think about it everyday, I should pray about it more though. I've streamlined our company around management of subcontractors. We only self perform electrical under our C11. Employees are very expensive, especially when work is slow. Good Subs are getting harder and harder to find as well though...
Very cool story very inspiring I get what you went through when you went to take your test I studied for my contractors license and failed the questions asked were not on the test either big time let down but I didnt get to bummed I figured God was actually protecting me it wasnt his plan for me at that time so I went back to doing what I was doing I'm not discouraged anymore i learned from it I'm staying positive living by faith thanking God for proving for me today and looking forward to what's in my future as only God knows were I'll end up trust in the lord with all your heart and hell direct your paths that's me I wait on gods plan for my life believe wait be patient and dont loose heart in all the craziness of life trust him today and always you'll find peace and hope thanks again for your video blessings you all
Thank you so much and God bless you my friend! I recently took the leap and left behind a 11+ year career in the automotive industry to become a General Contractor. It’s been rather interesting lol and videos like this help!
Much love and respect man, hope your business is doing good. I’m also a general contractor and have my own business so your story resonates with me. Take care man.
❤️ awe, Jesse! I learned so much about you! So proud of you for all of your accomplishments! 😂 about the doghouse comments. Loved the canes! You were such a baby in those videos! Love your faith and your drive buddy! 😗
I’m 25. Dad is an illegitimate contractor and I’m tired of him paying the same wage for the past 3 years without a raise. It seems my dad doesn’t want to see me create wealth or own my own business, he still says I’m not ready, however he doesn’t know what he’s talking about because he is not licensed in anyway and I’ve never seen him pull a permit or even type a single appraisal, meaning he doesn’t know what “ready” is. I want to respectively leave his work and start my own. I have over 5 years doing everything except heating/air and extensive electrical. I’m hoping I can start a new business when I move to a different town in TEXAS soon. I don’t think the requirements for being a contractor in Texas are as intense as Florida, but I know there is a lot to becoming legit and making more than $30,000 a year as you say. This was super motivating and I can’t wait to make this dream a reality like you did. But for real get out of that dated ass room you’re doing the video in 😂 jk brother
Honestly I can say that we have a similar story and I can say God help me get my contractor's license in VA. Thanks for putting your story out there, God bless you!
Jesse, your talk was so inspiring. And yes God is available to guide and support business matters too! God bless you for sharing your experience, knowledge and inspiration for other new entrepreneurs like myself...starting at age 63!
I'm 25 I've helped with small concrete projects and always thought of leaving my dead end job and start working in construction and learning the business. Is it to late for me ? I pray to God about it, but I'm always fearful of starting from the bottom again. Any advice?
Bruh same here, I’m 25 & literary took a leave of absence from my job & started my LLC. I’m not gonna lie it’s extremely stressful only because I’m kind of just jumping in head first & pretty much going in off that leap of faith. What did they do, hold the door open for you? Just kidding, I got mine at 23 but a subcontractor license, but on a serious note it’s interesting how in some states becoming a general contractor or contractor is like a bowl of candy,as described by the wonderful (cough cough) members on the California licensing board, any one can do it, take for example Washington Ohio Maine Vermont or Texas , while in California or Nevada, you gotta do a circus stunt to get that license, since their requirements are most onerous than others , level the playing field and make the industry uniform, equally regulated as the White House executive order in 2015 on occupational licensing required of state lawmakers
fucken genius !
Amazing job keep up budd
Thank you! 😃
What a testimony. It's all God...
💪🏼🙏🏼
What about the experience requirement to have worked at least one year as a foreman . Is there a way around that requirement
I have several years in the framing industry but not acting in a supervisory role.
Chuck Smith I would recommend picking up a position for a GC working as a superintendent.
