    Probably the shortest and best JFJKD vid. ever! Simple, direct and economy of motion. These instructors are superb!

    These guys are showing you exactly what JKD was supposed to teach. It wasn't about flashy moves it was about MECHANICAL EFFICIENCY. Exactly like the Verdadera Destreza of Spanish fencing which is where he got the concept from.

    Bruce Lee would definitely be proud to see such a basic illustration of his teachings. Direct and straight to the point. Awesome. :-)

    Wow this is one of the only times I've seen JKD trained alive or without heavy emphasis on trapping and the straight blast.

    I know this is the real JKD right here. I hardly see anyone do the low line stop kicks and even interceptions anymore.. Great stuff :D

    I really like his technique on the stop-kicks. The way he does it, it looks like a very effective way to keep the opponent from closing the distance.

      I recently started a job in security and I actually had to use it once! A homeless guy wandered into a closed part of the building and had to be escorted out. He started getting hostile with the janitorial staff so I stepped in to de-escalate the situation. He didn't back down and was on his way to charge at me and I used that kick on his hipbone, right above the crotch. He went down like a ton of bricks and left after he got back to his feet. It's a really good pre-emptive strike to end a fight before it even begins, or just to maintain distance.

    Sifu Jeremy Lynch is an extremely gifted martial artist and he has been one of the driving forces behind preserving Bruce Lee's art. Jeremy Lynch, Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer, Jerry Poteet, Lamar Davis, Tommy Carruthers, Dave Carnell, Ted Wong, Patrick Strong and others should be commended for being steadfast in teaching authentic JKD.

    Great JKD basics. I think the problem is there is not enough legitimate JKD instructors. Bruce Lee only taught a handfull in CA. And they only taught a handfull and so on.. JKD schools are not like TKD and karate chains. Its a shame though but at least there are teachers like these that keep the art alive.

    @jkdwng It was often said by Bruce Lee himself that the name "Jeet Kune Do" was just that...a name. There may be a few techniques to it, but the main thing was being fluid. It may not be called "the philosophy of doing whatever you want" but I feel that the main elements of jeet kune do are fluid movement, efficiency and adaptability. It is the style without style.

  • @rgsworld999

    Those last kicks can be diverted by doing a Muay Thai switch step. Or Bruce Lee's JKD backward jump step. It is best to incorporate and study all martial arts for the best methods that fit you.

  • @bravozulu8881
    @bravozulu8881 11 років тому +1

    JKD is more than a philosophy - there are also techniques. I believe that because the techniques of Original JKD (JFJKD) are more difficult to learn and require students to have better physical conditioning, more people go to JKD Concepts thinking they are studying Original JKD. In interviews that Dan Inosanto gave years ago - he said Original JKD and JKD Concepts are the same as you need to study and learn Original JKD first to learn JKD Concepts. Unfortunately, that is not being followed.

    @HARDSTOPHIT @HARDSTOPHIT from my understanding jkd puts emphasis on effeciency and speed and getting out of whatever position or threat is presented to you , i never said anything was wrong with their technique or skill it was beautiful in my opinion , i was just gettin on the fact that interpretation of jkd all together was in question , as far as fighting goes it was perfect so i guess in the end they made it work in their own , i apologize if i offended

    most common belief is jkd is a mash up of art and is based heavily on wing chun...to those individuals i employ you to read bruces notes in his book letters from the dragon. this compilation on letters bruce lee wrote will help individuals to understand where jeet kune do start and where it was left at his untimely death. in those notes you'll see that he got rid of a great majority of the wing chun movements but kept some principles that worked well with fencing as well as western boxing.

    Gentleman I just want to add to the discussion please no disrespect my on my part but and I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but remember Bruce was about partiality without totality yet he was about totality without partiality if this makes any sense it was a you know you got it right to with the natural flow of fighting human beings are different yet the same if that makes sense because of the way one person hits will not be the same as another person yet they are hitting if this makes sense

  • @Willjar

    While wrestling and BJJ are pretty good techniques to use to subdue your opponent with your own body weight and through locks to encompass pain; Aikido is specially designed to counteract said arts and so should not be overlooked. It's ok to have a preferred fighting style, but to narrow it down to 2 and say that it's a mistake to suggest x is better than y, is quite reductionist. It's like firearms. There are different firearms for different situations.

    there is no form or stance or technique at jeet kune do. but you right he taught he's students some kind of "technique" the he develop to himself and what allot of jeet kune do "teachers" are doing is just copy is way of doing things instead develop their own technique. he said I CANNOT TEACH YOU I CAN ONLY HELP YOU TO EXPLORE YOURSELF!

    actually the lady asking if jeet kune do was a combination of martial arts is right
    jkd isnt a style its a philosophy
    it puts emphasis on freedom and expression without limting yourself
    bruce said that he never created a new style n his truth was different from other peoples and vice versa
    these guys are jus only trying to mirror lee himself , which their is nothing wrong with that but they dont understand what jkd actually is

    Muay Thai has been one of the component styles of most Jeet Kune Do schools for quite a while. It certainly was when I took it back in the mid 1990's (starting around 94').
    Lee loved low kicks, and was skeptical of high kicks. He incorporated leg kicks from Wing Chun, French Savate and Muay Thai into his style.

    i didn't say that there isn't a combative part, i'm just saying that the combative part is not part of any system. the way of fighting is different from one person to another. and there isn't a way to do it right or wrong...

  • @joetheazl
    @joetheazl 11 років тому

    dude i think youre a bit confused on this video. Ive watchedd this and i dont see anything wrong that would take offense on bruce's philosophy. Hence that they keep mentionin that its BRUCE'S BELIEF on this like sayin "he" or "he would say that...". Meaning its his only thought, and they are just only demonstrating his own style, but i dont think they mention that its the WAY but just Bruce lee's philosophy. I dont see any offense here :)

      I think it depends what you're looking for in a system. Im not an authority in either system but it seems to me like JKD is more about street fighting, and Krav seems to specialize more in weapons defenses. The flashy jkd isn't a good representation of jkd in my opinion. Most jkd videos look more like Bruce Lee impersonators than jkd.

  • @ufolover40

    this is so sad... the truth is that i'm so sad that most of the people are so wrong about the bruce lee way of thinking. jeet kune do is nothing more than pure self knowledge and ambition to explore that knowledge. the will to survive and the the will to not afraid to expose the truth, and the truth is that we are all animals. and this is just part of it.

  • @superhumansight
    @superhumansight 14 років тому

    bursting, JKD, etc- this is all wing chun.
    nobody in wing chun is bound by the system either.
    basically he does the kick when opponent enters range or punches or plays 'pak dar'. however, this is something a 2 month wing chun student should know...

  • @jeetkunedo117
    @jeetkunedo117 14 років тому

    i understand that but if someone were slapping your kids or mother, it would be up to you to bring the fight to them if you had the heart and purpose to do so. most people train and train but when something happens, they tend to be in a state of shock. This is why Bushido and the warrior way (see book of 5 rings) is so important.

  • @bastonydaga
    @bastonydaga 13 років тому +1

    @Ben1987X: WC is a great system! I train also. BUT the benefit of a (GOOD) Jeet Kune Do instructor is his ability to teach you HOW to TEST your ability. What I mean is: IF you train WC against all your WC partners then you have a limited view of your ability. That is, you have not tested against a boxer, grappler/wrestler, or a kicker(like thai or tkd). The best way to get "effectively" good at WC is to test it against 'unknowns'.

    MMA Fighters actually have to learn more than just WB and Wrestling. Even so, it is not the same as a street situation and is less effective out of the ring. The main idea of Bruce Lee's style, was to never ground yourself in any particular aspect. If you learn grappling that works for you, then learn it, if your learn striking that works, then learn it. It's whatever works for you is what you use in your arsenal. Point being never stop learning. That is the core of Bruce Lee's art.
