    Hi Greg, I have a question on copyright. I make fan art of anime to be specific I use AI to generate anime designs of popular characters like Naruto . Is it going to be a problem in copyright?
    Again these are not some images taken from the internet, it is specifically generated by AI on commands.

    • @Tyzen222
      @Tyzen222 18 днів тому +1

      I would recomend looking that up with the company that "owns" The characters, from my understanding it depends on the specific character and owner of that character. I am new to this, but found out the hard way, did as you, and made an AI-design that I wanted to look "Hello Kitty"ish, but I lost my entire shop due to copyright issues on that one😅 looked it up, and apparentley the company owning Hello kitty, is very clear with not letting anyone use their characters or even something looking like them 😏 So look it up, before loosing your hard work - lots of Good Luck and profits to you 😊⭐️✨️

    I am starting Print on Demand, learning from mistakes. One that really puzzles me is I made a Harriet Tubman design from a template on PlaceIt, altered it, of course, but it was taken down from Spreadshop due to copyright infringement. My niche is Christian inspiration, so the Harriet Tubman design was a good fit, or so I thought. Are designs based on dead inspirational people subject to copyright issues? Thanks for your tutorials. They sure help us rookies.

    • @lilamiroh2305
      @lilamiroh2305 Рік тому

      From what I know, it depends on time. How many years have passed so the copyright changed to public, that's when people can use it. In some cases, such as artists' names and their works, it might still be under copyright laws and it might extend to family members, so if they don't accept it's not accessible for use. I think that's the case for Elvis.

      No worries I enjoy making them and the comments like this with gratitude make it all very fulfilling. I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve done it both ways and now I rely solely on the organic traffic from all the big POD sites. Hi Greg, I’ve been looking at the same t-shirt design website as you and noticed some artwork that’s labeled as “inspired by blank”. How can we handle artwork that is clearly based on a trademarked item, like an anime show, but are not the characters from it?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Рік тому +1

      Technically yes we can use it because it's considered fan art so it's still original work. I don't usually use any designs that are close to trademarked items just to be safe, but technically it's OK to do!

    I'm just getting started. My perception regarding uploading enough designs is as follows. I'd be interested your opinion on this. In 1 or 2 videos you mentioned expected income to be approximately $1/design/website/month. It seems that that might only apply once 'enough' designs are uploaded since (after looking at the avg. profit/sale is) it occurred to me that this expectation necessarily takes into account that some/most designs don't sell every month. As an example, if one were to upload 1 design to five different POD websites the formula might not work in the short term because of economies of scale. 100 or 500 designs uploaded, I believe could solve the economy of scale issue and one might see the formula above working. Does that seem correct to you? Just trying to cement in my head proper expectations and thought this sort of thing may help others as well. BTW, in terms of timing.. I'm not expecting to see any $$ until April. How's that for not setting myself up for failure?! Either way I'm not going to be a statistic (quitting) as some newbies seem to do. Thanks for all you do! -A
