It's probably just me overthinking things but... the way Matty says "I" when referring to The 1975 as a band, instead of "we", I think is a bit weird. The way the other members just kinda look at him as if they're just session musicians in Mattys eyes and that it's all about him. "when I STARTED making this record".... and "I"M NOT going to stop doing The 1975"... ETC implying the others do nothing...? idk, just felt a bit sorry for the others.

Mostly I think he says I because he is the primary lyricist and songwriter in the albums. 1975 don't really have super original riffs or rhythm actually and the technicality if compared to good bands are average at best but they use a lot of electronic and new age technology to give effects on their songs so not to discredit the others but Matty does write original lyrics so I think that takes time and I think he was referring to that when he said 'I'. All of them are best friends and love each other and understand each person's value so it would be nice if people stop trying to bring in the "Matty thinks 1975 is all about him'' narrative.
Caitlin Morgan he’s kind of always talked that way and the boys have known him since school and are all pretty shy compared to him so they probably are sweet with him taking the reigns a bit. He’s kind of the face/personality of the band in the general public forum!

I think when he is speaking he is thinking of when he's writing lyrics for the album and in no way means to diminish the others' input in what we get at the end. If he were just a singer with a supporting band we wouldn't love their music so much for sure!
