Wow, cloth diapers have come a long way since I was a baby. Born in 1972, my mother used literal old school cloth diapers. These are so awesome & the bamboo insert, amazing!!

I started using these as well after watching your video! I had been thinking about it for a while but it seemed like so much work with 1 year old twins! However I love using them now and it saves so much money on diapers in the end! It's also a lot less waste. Love it! Your video was extremely helpful!

The pocket ones are super bulky and as cute as they are I've found myself leaning towards a pin on method with Gerber's plastic pull-up covers. The covers are plastic with a soft elastic seal and actually don't leak anywhere near as much as the pocket ones. To wash, I do a pre-wash with oxyclean and then wash as normal with dreft. I hang dry and they haven't hung on to any of the stank and regularly washing in the oxyclean helps prevent and reduce stains. As it gets warmer I'll use the pocket ones more because he won't need to have pants on to stay warm and he doesn't like how bulky they are with pants on. We have disposables for overnights and he's in cloth diapers the rest of the time, even when we leave the house. Our plan to potty train will basically be to switch from the pinned diaper insert to a normal pair of underwear and still use the plastic cover. Sort of the cloth diaper equivalent of pull-ups, but you can wash them. I'll have to get more of the plastic covers as he gets bigger, but they're pretty durable and I'm passing them on to a friend with a baby 9 months younger than mine and she'll use them to so I don't feel any sort of way about them being plastic because they're being used a LOT. Also, I go through like 5-7 cloth diapers a day.... (and that's with the disposable overnight) how do you only have 21 shells and only wash them every 5-7 days? Your baby should be having his diaper changed more often than that...

Yeah I was thinking the same… and also risks the nappies going mouldy or deteriorating from being left wet for so long before being washed.

I have a question. The disposables have that moisture-wicking technology stuff where the pee turns to a gel. Do babies get diaper rash more often since cloth stays wetter feeling? (My daughter is almost 13, but I am just genuinely curious. I know that babies have used cloth diapers forever prior to the last half a century, but still just a curiosity.) And I’m so glad that so many are going back to cloth as it is more natural and much better for the environment!

to be honest, I didn't notice diaper rashes as a result of the diapers :)

Thanks for this video! Have you had to strip them yet? If so, what was that process?

I have not! What do you mean by that?

@@createdforeden When cloth diapers start to smell even after washing them, there is a process called stripping. You use a combination of chemicals and detergents to strip them of any build up that may be on them. It is harsher than just washing so you only have to do it when there is buildup. I am about to start cloth diapering with my second child. I did it with my first but then the diapers started to smell really bad no matter what I did, so I just started looking into stripping them.

You have got 21 diapers and you wash them every 7 days. You didn’t really use disposables so it looks like your baby uses 3 diapers a day. How it’s possible?
