I first heard of Darrell Scott 3 weeks ago,I'm now addicted. Every once in a while someone comes into your life and totally blows u away,I'm being serious when I say Darrell Scott is SECOND to nobody on this planet when it comes to acoustic/singer/songwriter.
This is one of these rare moments in life when the Artist - Guitar and song come together and FLOW with emotion. The Hands - Voice - Expression - Anger - Love - Experience all turn into one incredible force. Darrell Scott is like a one man Army, he's like a Rambo of the music world. When people ask me what Artist would you most like to Jam with I say Darrell Scott, in a heart-beat. This guy really knows how to play acoustic, great voice, great writer/storyteller, must be a bit of the Irish in him lol .
I always find it difficult to breath normally when he says "I can see him as a baby, I can hear him call my name...". Any father knows what I’m talking about. What a true artist D.Scott!
Still jamming to this tune and this man’s music everyday. With him and Tim O’Brien together is musical magic. The Real Time album is my all time favorite and it has gotten me through the lowest of lows in life. Thank you Darrell!!
I'm starting to wonder why this man is not on a world tour.maybe he's happy at home and that's cool. For this listener D Scott is a legend, he's songs and acoustic guitar playing together are up there with the greats. As a acoustic/singer/songwriter from Ireland I just want to say THANKS Darrell.
A terrific, heart-wrenching song. I heard him do it twice in 1 day and was in tears both times. His dad wrote it but Darrell said he wrote the last verse. He wanted to tell what the father remembered. It fills out the story.
with Kelly Joe Phelps and a few others, Darrel is among my absolute favorite song writers and guitar players! Respect and gratefulness and thanks for what they share with us!
and i'm just now making a Darrell Scott playlist??? what was i thinking? i haven't, i guess. but i love this guy picking, greaty voice also. i've always loved this ol boy's music, thanks for sharing. take care... COA ...
Saw DS and TOB play this a little over a year ago at the Barns (Wolf Trap). When they were done you could hear a pin drop. Just a remarkable and powerful antiwar song. Capo at III so that means Bflat except it's in a minor key (G or C minor). I don't believe he is using other than std concert tuning. @Innocantus, you DO hear him on the radio, or at least his songs which are covered by a who's who of major artists. He was also part of Robert Plant's Band of Joy so let's say he's not unknown to those who do know. I'm just glad to be aware myself. In addition to being the complete package, singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and a great 1 man performer, he is a heckuva nice guy and often makes himself available after shows. He even played my dobro once when I brought it to a show. Yeah he plays that too.
I can highly recommend to listen to the live version of this song on the album "Live at the Station Inn" - it goes on for more then 10 minutes and that One man army is a full band team that goes berserk. Enjoy :-)
@Innocantis you have! He's written songs like Great Day to be Alive (famously performed by Travis Tritt), Long Time Gone (performed by the Dixie Chicks) and You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive (performed by Brad Paisley). He writes songs that everybody else sings, though I'm with you, I'd rather listen to him any day.

Another member of Band of Joy is Buddy Miller. I like both of them and appreciate their music.

Only 9,000 views and 29 likes???? People don't like real music anymore?
Yes. Its a Taylor. DBD
hes kinda kick ass
@crustyHO I know, right? People are too busy listening to Taylor Swift (and thinking it's country!)
Pourquoi vous nous envoyez toujours la même daube alors que vous avez des gars comme ça?
lledew c’est vrai, ils envoient des britney spears et comme ça et gardent la Amérique réel pour eux, n’est pas juste!
I dnt like his "studio" recorded stuff rather hear his songs live much better
