    Ms. Acevedo addresses so many critical conversations in our conception of literary canons, savior-complexity (even among formerly marginalized actors), WHY poetry is a critical tool for voice-finding and the dangerous consequences of single narratives. "Teaching is NOT community service! We are all working on our own mosaic aches."

    Muchisimas gracias! Many people mistakenly see teaching is a community service when teaching students of color or lower-income students and value teaching as a career when teaching white privileged students. Ms. Acevado addressed that erroneous belief with power and truth.

    You act like you’re so oppressed, but what venue are you speaking from? Your voice is somehow silenced, but you’re speaking on a stage. I got to this video by an initiative by youtube to get “latinx“ voices heard. You’re not oppressed. You’re on a pedestal…
