All are better than the current theme reworking (2022-3) with that silly guitar twang at the beginning. It takes away from the seriousness and authority of the previous incarnations.
I love this, but you can see where The Day Today got the idea for the over-the-top graphics.
Probably the most memorable and succinctly appropriate theme for a news program.
Not sure why but the sound of this and the original match of the day theme always completed the day. Sort of late night tones rounding the day off

This is the 2006 version. Not from 1998 as the 1993 theme remained in use until it was replaced.

What do you mean? The guitar has always been in the theme. It’s supposed to represent a Tv turning on.
