Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present the results show, as Chris & Karen and Alex & Neil face elimination from the competition.
Our fabulous four judges are new judge Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas.
This week's show is full of thrilling theatrical numbers from some of the best musicals ever made.

Sad to see Alex go. For someone that has improved in dance throughout the competition and to come this far is miraculous even winning the Sports Relief Special on the tour was her proud achievement. Even though Chris did survive the dance-off only just and is well-liked by the public I have a feeling he will be the next to go next week if he lands bottom of the leaderboard.

robert hrehson yeah but they’re a partnership so it is fair. I think the whole reason he decided to take the non traditional route was to disguise her lack of samba as the samba that was there wasn’t particularly good anyway

Ok but then saffron shouldn’t have left because samba wasn’t her or aj’s best style but that’s the whole point of the show .
it infuriates me when the judges have a go at the celebrity for the dance content, it isn't their fault, Neil lost Alex her place.
At the end, Neil "you don't get rid of me that easy" lol! I think he has such a big crush on Alex! I hope she feels the same!

Absolutely, the way she touches his chest and then his beard when talking after! Very familiar, quite sweet, actually hope its so after the crap the poor guy went thru last year with his slutty wife & the comedian!!

Everyone should stop blaming Neil. The reason they went home wasn’t because it lacked samba content it was because bruno & shirley’s personal preference was Chris and Karen’s dance
Craig saved Alex’s dance because of the refreshing style it was totally due to what you would prefer
To be honest I knew what was coming when Shirley had the casting vote. She was never going to save Alex. Well done to both! They both improved in the dance off and I'm glad that Alex went out on a high. I liked the alternative style of her samba, but the pros always take a big risk with things like that. Craig liked it very much and Shirley did not. Vice versa with Chris' Foxtrot. Wonderful journey and probably, alongside Kelvin and Oti, the best partnership of the season. Hats off to Team Red!
Such a joy to see Alex dancing.. she has improved so much and always smiling and positive🥰. Going to miss their dancing and routines

I love this competition and all of the participants deserve any praise they get for having the nerve to go through with it. Chris Ramsey will probably not win the glitterball but he has won me over with his journey...what a delightful man with such a delicious sense of humour!
If he doesn’t win it’s fine because there are better dancers. But the amount he has learnt and improved has been wonderful to watch. I feel the same of Alex too. It’s a delight to watch them both improve. Adore how much the nation loves Chris too. Such a lovely chap!

Looking at Chris while he was hugging Alex, to me it looked like he was saying "I'm so sorry I can't believe it...", like he's apologising for her being sent home 😭❤️. So happy they saved my favourites! I am sad to see Alex and Neil leave though, they did well ❤️.

If im going to be honest it was kind of predictable that these 2 would be in the dance off. Im not sending hate cuz they have both worked extremely hard but its clear which dancers are stronger and which are not.

Yes, I agree. I'm also not sure I have faith in the voting system...if Karim is in the dance off with Chris, it will make the judges decision easier...which it needs to be for the semi final I would think.

I know, it's like his face when Tess revealed he was voted through on Halloween Week! He is the highlight of my Sunday! I am glad he made it to the final elimination because the elimination process would be so barren without him!
His and Karen's faces when they realise they're through to the semi-finals made me laugh! I bet Karen never thought the first time she'd get to the semis would be with him!

What a twist! Did not expect that! Craig and Motsi going for Alex, but Bruno and Shirley saving Chris overall! I think overall, it was the right decision, since Chris did proper Foxtrot and Alex's didn't have much Samba content. But it could have gone either way, really. We are at that stage now.
It is sad to see them go, but this is a nice satisfying conclusion to their journey. Thank you, Alex and Neil, and congratulations Chris and Karen. You are what Strictly is about and thank you for inspiring us all! ❤️👏🏽
Also, when all is said and done, Alex has been the best Strictly partner Neil has ever had! 😉

Weirdly, Chris survived the samba and that was my least favourite dance of theirs
Though I do love them in general.

Chris was better between the two in the dance off. Alex was better overall in the competition but Chris was really good on Saturday imo. Alex's dance lacked Samba content, it was more hip hop styled. Either way, it was a joy to watch Alex, always humble and took criticisms very well.
At least Chris was authentically Foxtrot. Kind of the right decision. I think with this, either way it would have been right.

I seem to remember a story that when len left both he and bruno where asked if they would like the job and they both said no.
Cait I know what you mean. He's the only one that tells the dancers as it is and he's been the only fair judge this year.

So sad to see Alex go, especially on a split decision between the judges. I have no real problem in the head judge having the casting vote but it MUST be based on dance content and execution. Shirley made the decision based purely on personal preference (those were her words). That is poor judging - the public can do that. Shirley is paid (large sum of money) to judge as a professional. Surely there must be some code of marking - as an ex gymnastics coach, the judges in gymnastic competitions follow a stringent marking code. There must be some quantitive way of marking for dance, especially from the head judge.
There is a quantitative way Shirley follows..how cute she thinks the male is.
But it was based on dance content. Chris actually properly did the dance he was assigned to. We all love Alex but it was the right choice.
Bessie Burnet She would have been better to say that and I would probably agree but she sometimes says comments that are bound to be make the public feel she is biased. I don’t believe she is and at the end of the day this is only an entertainment programme. I am sure Shirley as a judge in a professional national competition would be more analytical and precise with her critique.
@@bessieburnet9816 Actually on the Saturday night..the critique of Chris' dance also mentioned it not quite being the dance required. And no.. judging the dancer on "content' is judging the choreography. It supposedly is about the execution of the "content".
Alex was my favourite! I'm so sad she left. also finding it kinda weird that twice this series they've had problems with the votes followed by a fan favourite going out, first with Dev now with Alex.

Is it just me that thinks it should go to the public vote in the event of a tie? I don't have a problem with Shirley but I think going to the public vote in these situations is fairer.

It could have been either of them but Chris should have gone imo. His frame was terrible in the dance off (elbows were hanging throughout) and when he danced what little foxtrot there was, it looked like he was plodding along the dance floor. Alex, although suffered similar issues with lacking Samba action, she danced those parts much better.

I'm gutted to see two of my favourites in the dance off tonight. I've really enjoyed watching their journeys throughout this series as none dancers. So happy Chris is through to the semi finals, but sad to see Alex go, her confidence grew and grew every week and it was so infectious to watch!

The curse of the Strictly Samba
They are the two that I thought would be in the dance-off but I'm shocked! This was a tough one because both weren't that great at their respective ballroom and latin dances but their overall performances were brilliant. I thought for sure though that Chris would be going and Alex possibly had the tiniest edge on him in terms of her other performances put together. If she possibly had any other dance but the samba maybe it would have been a no-brainer.. I can't believe Chris is through to the semi-finals! Hahaha
It seems madness that Chris is through, although I admire him for his effort....just thinking of some of the people who were eliminated; Emma Weymouth danced better than the level Chris is at now, and Dev, to mention just two! I doubt very much that he'll make the final, if he does I think the nation will be in a state of shock.

@@susancook1994 It is madness, even though I love him you're completely right. I was a massive fan of Dev's and I have no doubt he would've gotten really good had he been allowed to this point. For the stage that we're at in the competition they should all be neck and neck really and the only two that are at that level is of course Karim and Kelvin. I suppose that's what you get if you keep voting for the entertainment value, but there is the added fact that he's extremely likeable. No, for sure it's going to be Emma that gets to the final, though my main issue with her is that we haven't seen her do Latin in a while and don't really know if it's at the level it should be for her to be worthy of the final. It's funny really, even though she wasn't one of my favourites I would have told you it was Michelle that was going to the final if she hadn't gone and done that god-awful Vogue dance.

Some crazy things can happen if they let it be completely the public vote. Like best dancer going because people like a different celebrity. At least the finale (I think) is all public vote.

Lemon Dizzle The judges have to vote on the dance off alone. While I agree that Alex would’ve been more promising in the semis, I think that Chris’s dance off was better. Neil’s choreography this week wasn’t all that good. There was an illegal lift, (not meant to be in the samba) and it felt too street like. I’m disappointed, but I have to side with Bruno and Shirley here.
Alex couldn't help it in the dance off, she can't change the choreography, she danced her heart out and that was the best she could do

Tom Bavey The problems the judges had was there wasn’t enough samba, and it more of a contemporary style - this was Neils fault. The judges should have taken into account that Alex is SO much better then christ
@@roberthrehson2060 Based on previous performances it is clear that Alex would not have coped with a pure samba and would have almost definitely resulted in a lower score, it is the most difficult latin dance and even the best of celebs struggle with it. You could say they were on a level playing field as they also said Chris didn't have enough foxtrot... so it really came down to dance ability and Chris was chosen. (Also the choreography was based on the music they were given - mostly the producers' choice, neither had good music for their dance style, resulting in Alex having a streetish samba and Chris's foxtrot being a load of quicks and very few slows)

Shirley is so biased she doesn't even try to hide it anymore the fact she used "Personal Taste" as her reason for saving Chris shows you how partial and biased she is as a judge.

AJ Rein i dont think it’ll be him. I think he went to staging school, and had dance experience. No one comes in that good for week one and makes no mistakes. Which is why they’re so technical with him. Needs to he Antons year, poor man has been there 15 years and never won. People prefer more of a journey, hence why Stacey Dooley won last year and not Ashley or Faye

@@leahbunn4367 Yeah, but Alex and Chris have had the biggest journey of all of them - Alex more so because she has genuinely grown in both ability and confidence so much - as two non-dancers, and they were the bottom two. Seems the pattern is beig broken, sadly. The ringers are nice for quality, but in my eyes, it isn't what Strictly should be about.
Becki Holmes Emma is way better than both Chris and Karen, she just has a lot of confidence issues, plus she doesn’t get as much time as everyone else because of eastenders. I mean she 5 10’s within two weeks, Alex should’ve atleast hitting a 10 by now, same goes for Chris
@@leahbunn4367 But she has had former dance training. She started pretty good, and she's gotten better. Fair enough. The point with Alex and Chris is that they started complete novices and grew into dancers. You don't get the same journey when they can already dance. Emma is a more interesting journey than Karim and Kelvin though: both had a lot of dance training, both started really strong and have continued to be strong. Little bit dull.
I predicted this would happen the moment I heard Alex & Neil were in the dance-off against Chris & Karen. Craig and Motsi would save Alex & Neil because they obviously know that Alex & Neil were great but Bruno and Shirley would save Chris & Karen because for some reason, they don’t seem to like Alex. Chris should not have been a semi-finalist but because of how unfair Bruno and Shirley are to Alex, it was inevitable.
If he wins this year I will not watch EVER again 😤😤😤😤

Ruby Vincent It would just anger me if he did win because he should have left like week 4 imo. He’s been bottom of the leaderboard some weeks and only just once has he been in the dance off. His facial reactions also annoy me like he is putting it on trying to be funny. I do understand he has fans and people are rooting for him, but it’s just my personal feeling that’s all 🙂

To be honest, I think Alex had stayed a few weeks too long!! She's stunning, seems very sweet, and her partnership with Neil seemed very genuine but it was time!
Raianne Storey you could say the same about Chris. He should have gone by week 3 or 4. He was always one of the worst dancers, just saved by the public because of his personality.

Rip off Chris should of gone home but it’s obviously not unanimous with the judges. Oh well all in the eye of the beholder it’s just a tv show and dance show popularity contest. Everyone in the contest is a great dancer it is personal taste I feel Alex danced better but she made it almost to the semi finals so why am I complaining I got some dances of hers to rewatch.
Neil is in charge of the choreography it wasn’t Alex’s fault it looked like a hip hop but she did deserve to go

Strictly has become a bit of a joke because originally it was about learning to dance by stars who have never danced, all who will be left after next week will be the dancers. The fix was on. Craig disliked Alex and Neil from day one and he is not much fonder of Chris. What happened to the journey? Chris hollins, Jay, that drummer man, Stacey, non dancers all yet they won because the public liked them inspite of the judges. The glitch at the BBC meant that you could Not vote for Alex how is that not a fix? Disappointed in the BBC and I watched this show from the beginning but no more, I don't like fixed shows

Audrey Hepburnfan Shirley is the head judge and therefore has the casting vote so in the case of a tie whoever she votes for is who is safe

What does that Shirley mean by saying going on a personal choice I save Chris. Personal feelings shouldn't come into it it should be the dancing and Alex has improved the most. Well on a personal note I don't like that Shirley.
