You guys were wondering what the next big trend in Hollywood is gonna be... and right now I think it's going to be horror. We're seeing big money makers like IT and A Quiet Place, plus Oscar wins for Get Out. It's a lower risk genre to work with, since making a good horror film doesn't require the insane budget of stuff like Superhero films by default. I think, also, and this is just conjecture on my part... I think some people are seeing them in theaters just to avoid spoilers. A lot of dramatic films or Indie movies or whatever rarely get talked about casually on Twitter or where ever. But horror movies get not only twists revealed, but if you miss it in theaters, there's a decent chance you'll see all the big scares in a gifset online or something. There's a good number of people willing to spend $20 to see all of this in context in the theater just to avoid that feeling of having the movie spoiled for them, even if it's a movie that would otherwise perform better if it was released on streaming services.
