I think this song really captures her journey of leaving Roseanne behind in Australia and becoming Rosé the star.
Rosé explained why both of the songs contain all-English lyrics. "I'm sure that every song has a language that suits it best. I debated a lot about what language would suit the title track, and it turned out, it was English. In truth, I was worried that fans might be disappointed with English lyrics, but I also felt that it was important to present them with a completed song, the best song that I could be satisfied with."

It’s about her journey since she was a trainee until now as a huge star and she’s addressing her past self and saying even though she worked so hard to reach the sky really everything she needs is on the ground around her.
The 2 Rosé in the pian is the 24 year old Rosé talking to her 16 year old trainee self & she’s telling her that she has worked her whole life to be on top, to be known, to achieve great things - but realizing what matters most is what’s already there (family, friends, loved ones)
and the fact that the song is about rosé talking to her past self hits diff
As someone who loves Taylor and her music I can say that Rosie's lyrics are really good. I can see the similarities between both artist and I would LOVE to have a collaboration (even though Taylor barely collaborate with famous people 😭)

Well to all the haters keep being pressed. My idol is not like your idols who are dreamy and unrealistic unlike rosé. She did not make a main track for romance because she had beyond concept which is her journey wherein we all could actually relate to. This is Rosé, this her solo debut, this is her moment, she is an inspiring artist.

Rosé said in her vlive that there was a scene where she goes back to her childhood and she sees her younger self and it reminded her of who she is (her core self) and how it relates to the song that when she was writing it, she was reflecting the old days and what she's been through and now that she's achieved all of it, she realized that what she needed is already available - within her. In her.
She said someone told her they didnt expect Rosie to choose a theme like this for her first solo song. Expecting it to be something about love. Yet she chose to write about her self and her realization.
She's a total inspiration.
THANK YOUUUU!!!! Finally someone actually get the meaning!!! I really appreciate it, cause everyone thought it is about love, but she highlights in her live that she want blink to have the opportunity after listening to her song to look back and think about what really mater. And you kind see this in her sometime specially in the documentary when she said that she miss her past trainee day because she was surrounded by music and it really touching cause she said she really enjoyed doing this single album cause it remains her of how healing music makes her and how she glad this song is her first solo because the lyrics resonated with her the most. I think it is the perfect song to start and step up a new page of her career as soloist.
It's all about her hardship being a trainee. It's sooo touching.

what i love this is the lyrics which rosie participated. rosie said that ON THE GROUND lyrics reflect her trainee life.
Rose’s message in this song is very universal and timeless. Again and again from time to time, we need to be reminded to come back to our true inner self. Roseanne, I feel, is not just her younger self, but her soul, her inner voice and her higher reality.
It’s this illusion of life that made us mad, self centered and greedy. All these high places mean nothing in the end if we are not in touch with the reality of life. Rose’s song is a gift to the world. Truly blessed. God is rewarding Rose handsomely for her patience.

for me the message of the song strongly revolves in the lyrics "when you want it suddenly you have it" (she dreamed becoming a star then she became one), then you found out that the gold is just plastic (the she realized being a normal or having a normal life is just as good as being a star). The my life is like magic seems fantastic i used to have a hole in the wall with a matress (its her story of being just a kid in her house in australia to being a world star/ her journey). everyday every night thinking about you and I( she's looking back her normal days and looking at normal roseanne and world star rosé) she aimed high but never coming down (because she is now a world star and she can never go back on having a normal life), she thought what she needs was being in the sky "her dream"but she realized it was on the ground "being just the normal roseanne from australia. her real message was even though they are stars and idols she realized is that what they really need is not all of the fame in the world but a normal life with normal people. if you'll know rosé, rosé is a down to earth person and she loves being treated like a normal person/friend. this explains the concept of the video, why she is burning her expensive cars etc.

rosie wore a dress and jennie wore a shirt they both have the same flower thingy but jennie was wearing it with shorts and rose's is a dress but they both looked so good!!

He didn't make songs for what we wanted. But to tell you the message she wants to deliver as a songwriter in her debut, she really wants us to accept her as rosé instead of the blackpink rosé. He wants us to love him with his own work. This song may be different from other bp songs. But there's a lot of hidden meanings here that make the audience think positive! Music is about stories, not about fame! I love this song so much, it's not just the good stuff. But, the message contained within it made me realize that no matter how much we hope, we will return to the ground! On the ground and gone is the best song I've ever heard

It was revealed during her interview that her B-track, Gone, was first recorded 2 years ago. That time when everyone was expecting her to debut. On the ground, on the other hand, was first recorded months ago. It makes sense as during their World Tour which ended February of 2020, she was able to go back to her home country. She had the opportunity to perform in front of the Aussie crowd, her dream back then. But more than that, she was able to finally go back to her home, her origin, the place she used to live as Roseanne and reconnect to that old self once again. It would not be surprising if this song was written just after that.
