- Conservative MP Craig Mackinlay has candidly opened up on his health battle with sepsis after admitting he is “extremely lucky to be alive”.
In September, the MP for South Thanet said he was taken to hospital and “placed into an induced coma with multiple organ failures”.
In an exclusive GB News interview, Mackinlay has spoken out on his road to recovery and how he has been impacted by the ordeal.
Sepsis, also called septicaemia or blood poisoning, occurs when the immune system overreacts to an infection.

Couldn’t be the one thing that we have all been forced to take over the last four years.
My brother went fishing and stood in the water with waders on etc.. as he turned to walk towards the bank , a low down branch from a tree that sat in the water penetrated the rubber of his wellingtons and scratched his leg
He thought no more about it for several days, however he began to get severe backpain that brought him to tears so took himself off to the hospital to get checked out .
There he collapsed ..and he too suffered septic shock ..
They induced him into a coma however he never woke up again. Complete Organ failure occurred.
This man is a true fighter ..
I loved the standing ovation he received in parliament the other day .sure deserved it!
I'm so very sorry 😢
I am sorry for your brother 🙏
Bless you, Sir!!
What a BRAVE, WONDERFUL MAN!!!!
Something affected his immune system? Can't imagine what that could possibly be
Safe and effective 😂😱
Wnat a courageous man! Keep going Craig McKinley!!
What a remarkable and smart kid these two are raising, respect
Hell of a thing to go through, but vs death, most people will endure, even more so if they have kids.
Amazing attitude from Craig. All the best to him and his family.
A closed shop with closed minds.
Safe and effective.
You’d blame the jab if someone fell down the stairs😂

This is awful but these safe and effective treatments have caused a lot of this🤔😢
Wow some of the comments on here are disgusting, have some empathy for goodness sake
Sad cases like this are happening worldwide. Time to admit what you know.

He should say what caused it 😏😏
He did, it was sepsis

more common than you know now , shame this happened , we cannot normalise this disease ! So help you God ! God never gives us more than we can handle .
I hope he didn’t use the NHS his party are busy destroying it
It’s making me so angry MP in the House of Commons calling him an inspiration. Talking about service to country. They are aware this guy is part of a party that has wrecked our country for 14 years
They aren’t. It’s been its most funded in history. It’s NHS managers that are destroying it.
The NHS is being bankrupted by booze, fags and fast food. We're the largest people now in Europe, nothing to do with who is in power.

Vote reform for change
Irrespective of his politics, this is a dreadful thing to happen to anyone: and at anytime, a similar thing could befall any of us. We take for granted we have arms, legs, eyes etc.......and ONLY, when things like this happen, do we truly appreciate what we had sadly.
Never disputed that
Just recovered myself, managed to avoid amputations. Slow recovery. Sepsis awareness is critical
I grow ever more cautious of medicines and other things going into my body. But Mr MacKinlay is incredible and his way of coping large parts of his body being removed is amazing. Shame on all those commenting here about something different.
I have to admit Craig has got some guts. I’d never be able to cope with this as someone who plays the piano and the guitar: huge respect to the guy.
Well done Craig
Remember you from being our Saturday boy on occasions… always likeable but now very admirable too
Keep going your giving so much hope to many
Big thumbs up x
Thanet South MP Craig Mackinlay has described campaigners who oppose Covid-19 vaccinations as "barking mad" and "dangerous". 👀🤔
This is in your opinion.
Does your little head just think jab every time someone gets an illness? Are you that thoughtless and programmed?

Always take an infection seriously! My brother 2 years ago got sepsis and it's slowly killing him day by day
Jabbed by any chance
They told him it was safe and effective.
How can he not make the obvious connection?
Az
The obvious question to ask is were you jabbed and if yes have you for one second asked yourself was it the jab?
Exactly.
He must be so institutionalised he can't even make the obvious connection.
Literally I could make a UA-cam channel skateboarding and break my leg and you lot would ask of the vaccine broke my leg you absolute morons 😂
You’d blame the jab if someone got struck by lightning mate 😂
There’s zero possible link between the two.
@@jim2win2 You’d blame Covid if someone fell down the stairs and died😂
This was almost too much for the interviewer as well ...
Is he running for the upcoming election?
Now all we need is a useful MP
I don't like the his politics but as a human being.. we should commend his courage...
