Magnus' lads have always been a favorite legion of mine through both 40k and Heresy eras. I look forwards to unleashing some psychic shenanigans on all who oppose my vengeance against the Furries of Fenris.
A good way to justify a good chunk of the 40k thousand sons units is just to say that thematically your army is based in a post Prospero pre siege of Terra time. If I remember correctly basically as soon as they were transported to Sortiarius just went all out with their Prosperine icons, headresses and all that. And surely a few would incorporate some Tzeentchy stuff as there's a 10 year gap between Prospero and the siege of Terra.
Hey Macca, as a long time Thousand Sons player, how do you feel about the Thousand Sons thematically from 30k vs 40k? Like which one do you prefer more; do you like the vibrant heat of the Horus Heresy colours or the cold flame of the modern era colours? Also not even just the colours, but the iconography being different as well.
I remember coming across your video on how to paint the red on i believe it was a rhino and i fell in love with the legion afterwards. I was wondering what do you think of with the scarab occult terminators for converting sekhmet termies? I definitely wanna use the rubrics or maybe just the shoulder pads on some of my unbuilt MK VI marines to show they are vets maybe
Starting probably Wednesday, but will be slower to release, it took a lot of effort to get these out, even if they are short videos, thanks to the tight timeline.
'im planning on doing an order of the Blindness force to expand my thousand sons legion with the starter box, with a lot of veterans and snipers, kinda alpha legion-esque, i think it's also fluffy that a recon/infiltration/scouts/saboteur force got some mk6 armor to use on their soldiers. I will convert that praetor to be a vigilator, and the chunky one... maybe a techmarine? idk we will see.
Macca I know this is kind of a late question, but do you know of any references or pictures of TSons in MKVI? Did they ever just add the psychic hood crest to the beaky helmets? There's some artwork in the new book with them, but I was just wondering if you knew of any others.
@@quart5extakkord I was thinking a group that escaped/was elsewhere when the burning of Prospero happened and reverted to their original scheme when they learned of Magnus' treachery
Ok I have a question, I like the lore and colour scheme. But fact is the thousand sons got destroyed right at the start of HH and then didn’t really do anything. So how am I meant to like them for Horus heresy
Technically if you wanted to be more 30k like wouldn't you want to change the infernal masters staff with that of an egyptian crook? Or at the very least remove the top of the staff so it no longer uses the Tzeentch symbol i dont know if the thousand sons had fully given themselves to Tzeentch at that point in time. At least not to the same level as their 40k conter parts has. Also I can't remember did the thousand sons stop using familiars after the burning of prospero. If not you could just replace the screamers with something else to act as their familars?
Wouldn’t the backpack on the infernal master be to new for 30k? By no means an expert. Just want to make sure. I shouldn’t worry to much for anyone giving me crap about it, but rather be safe than sorry ha.
As you'd see in the Death Guard video, the Anvilus pattern power unit was seen amongst many on the traitor side during the late crusade/early heresy period.
@@TheOuterCircle need to watch it again, and I guess I need to look at the Infernal master again. Don’t know why the backpack/power unit looked newer. Thanks for the answer. And thanks for the video. Still on the fence with 2.0, but I’ll probably end up getting the rules at some point.
Why not just...buy a MKIII Tactical Squad and paint it up as Thousand Sons, rather than buying chaos marine stuff and swapping parts? All this vid is doing is putting in lots of extra work that isn't necessary, plus it makes no sense that Great Crusade/Heresy era TS would look like their chaos worshipping versions from 10,000 years in the future.
These type of videos are why I watch, when you take something you don't/didn't like (box set) and show how to make it thematic to each Legion.
0:35 Its nice to see Maccas passion for Thousand Son has lasted 30 years, which is 6 more years than I've been alive
haha nice
Don’t forget that every Prospero boxed set came with basic Thousand Sons decals, and everyone you know probably has a few in a drawer.

I will say in the defence of the Rubric Heads, characters such as Phosis T'kar have been depicted with some of the larger headdresses in 30k.
I'd say replace the Rubric marine backpack with an older mk variation. They look very Tzeentchy and may not match the 30k aesthetic well.
I did it gave them mk4 backpack and their legion helmets it looks so good
I'd also shave off some of the details from the models (trims/flames).
Another awesome video and thanks! Would you say Mk III marines have a place in Thousand Sons? If so, what conversions would you recommend?
They certainly do, put the Achea pattern helms on them and you're set. Also sexy AF breachers.
you should do a painting tutorial for 1k sons. Bonus points if its on rubrics.
If you at any point cover third-party parts kromlech do some really nice khopeshs'. They aren't sculped with handles so they look great on the hip

They work ok for Tartarus, but they're no good for Sekhmet as they have to be in Cataphractii.
@@TheOuterCircle ah ok
How well do the Beakies work with the Thousand Sons as tactical? Did they (lorewise) make use of MK.VI?
What are your thoughts and suggestions on what to do with MKVI regarding a Corvidae Cult themed force? Great work as always - cheers!
So would you buy mark 4 space marines and then the thousand sons upgrade packs for them?
I like the pace we are advancing, I suppose part 2s are coming up these two weeks?

@@TheOuterCircle Thanks macca, also a small suggestion to maybe start from descending order this time? Just a thought.

Would it be viable to paint my 1k Sons as their pre-heresy cream/blue/orange?
I‘d say go for it and make up some army specific fluff. This is a rare but wonderful color scheme.

What are your thoughts on mk6 Thousand Sons in current HH lore. Considering that GW is going to retcon the lore anyways with this new release.
I wanna get those heads but they are all out of stock on forgeworld in america and I legit can’t even find any mark 4 helmets any where :(
Hey macca do blue thousand sons have a place in the heresy or is that too late?
Blue comes later, but you can play around with the fluff to make it a thing.
