Looking For Marine Fossils at LANGZA | Spiti valley Road Trip EP08 | Offbeat and Untold

Langza is a remote village in Spiti Valley known for its beautiful landscape and existence of marine fossils. Langza is also famous for the 30 feet high Buddha statue in the village.
This is our 8th episode on Spiti Valley Road trip and this day, we are going to explore Langza.

Marine fossils at Langza
Marine fossils are found at Langza village. These fossils are said to be more than 150 million years old. That means at one point of time Langza village was actually under the sea. scientists say that once upon a time, Himalayas did not exist. Instead there was Tethys Ocean. Due to a tectonic collision, the ocean disappeared and the mountain ranges emerged.
So if you visit Langza, you can see these marine fossils at the homes of the villagers.
