My Next SUV Build? Parked Side-By-Side: New Lexus GX vs Toyota Land Cruiser!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 тра 2024
- In today's video, I attend the Lexus x Toyota x SEMA Garage Measuring Session in Diamond Bar, CA for the 2024 GX and 2024 Land Cruiser! This was a great opportunity to see both new vehicles parked side-by-side, and stripped apart since they were being measured for product development by aftermarket manufacturers. What do you think of each of these new and off-road oriented SUVs?!

Nice coverage of this event and great information. Thank you.
Perhaps the most informative video comparing the two models out! Thank you.
Simp!
I saw both on an autoshow last week. The landcruiser is an absolute legend and looks modernly rugged in person. But man when I went inside the lexus gx, the luxury is really there while maintaining the offroady vibe.
I love the 1958's cloth seats, they remind me of 90s Toyota trucks. Both cool rigs.
It’s too bad the 1958 only comes in 3 colors.
Also too bad it also does not come with the detachable sway bar disconnect 😢😢
Very informative! Thank you
I like the 4runner because I measured 6"3" x 4" in back so I can sleep on road trips. I mean all that money, better have space to sleep at Walmarts I'm thinking. And I like the auto roll down window.
Да!😁👍
Awesome opportunity. Never knew this was a process. Thanks for bringing this behind the scene.
Chloe you are incredible. much love, and Happy Easter✌
Great video which i been looking for such comparison!! Frankly, if fuel economy and money is not a concern, GX Overtrail+ will be my pick for the rugged look and luxury . Pls keep us post on the the up coming GX550h hybrid too!!
Thanks for this thorough video, really helpful, I know it's got to be the Lexus in my case because I need the third row.
Great vid, as always!
Great video. Just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great content.
The Land cruiser is what appeals to me the most. I like the Retro look to it. Thanks for the tour. 😊
The pricing is ridiclous. Over paying for that name
@@Thisthat1234 I can’t disagree with you there
Awesome video! Very informative and a unique venue where you could speak directly with product experts! Can you tell us more about the differences between the locking differentials in the Land Cruiser vs GX 550?
Excellent content here cloe! Live all the details and great questions being asked by you. Learned so much and has a better ideal which truck I want to :)
Thanks for this video!! How did you find the trunk space in comparison to a current gen 4Runner for example? The specs on Toyotas website seem to state the trunk space being relatively small vs the 4R
Huge props to Ms Kuo for having this vid...of all of the YuuToob talkers who post vids about vehicles, this is the first time ive seen/heard of this type of 'Session'...why havnt any of the so called 'experts' ever been at one of these to show vehicles?? Great vid I was hoping for some sort of measurements of the two vehicles, but having them sitting side by side like that shows...they are very similar except for the engine...I love em both, but im not a 'Lexus' guy...my wife has a 2020 ES, nicest car ive ever been in, but i'd be way too nervous to own it for myself. I'd want the LC...more utilitarian. But i'd need to be convinced of that 4-cyl engine for sure. My bullet proof 4Runner V6 has given 10yrs of completely trouble free ownership...
Thank you.
Thank you for the very interesting video. Do you have any information on when the Lexus GX550 will be released and available for purchase?
Great video!
That GX!
Very nice!
13:48 Does the GX have larger sway bars too for better on road handling?
Question why doesnt it have the height adjustment tech in the prior Lexus GX? Seems more ground clearance could be good for offroad?
great comparison!
As a Mitsubishi fan....i do appreciate what Toyota has been doing with their off road offerings. I would be torn between the LC and new GX...there are things i like on both vehicles and things i don't. I do feel a potential consumer will have to make some type of compromise choosing which one they want.
Great video!
Thanks Chloe for the coverage of these models.
Wow. What an awesome video this is. Thanks for taking the time in recording.
Saw it on X and couldn't wait.
Ok you’ve done the 4R, now you’ve seen GX and LC. Which would you personally purchase??
Will 17” fj cruiser steelies fit the Land Cruiser?
That GX is gorgeous
I like both, however I am not into Hybrid vehicles. Thanks for this video, had to be a fun day for you.
i want that GX!
Best video I’ve seen comparing the two models at once. Would love to see more!
Boy if it had a split tailgate that would be so great
Great video, Chloe❤
Still not ready to give up my 2016 V8 GX.
interesting looking at the trunk area of the landcruiser. Chloe says that there is more room due to no 3rd row, but at 19:03 you can see that the trunk floor is still raised up, so that to me is a lose:lose situation.... no 3rd row and reduced trunk capacity.
good video though.
I thought that you had an 80 series that you were going to build out?
Wish we could get the round headlights with Ventilated seats on the LC 250
The headlights can be changed to the round one if you want to...after market!
The markups are going to be next level on these. Especially in California!
what about 34 or 35 tires?
The stuff that comes on the Overtrail is sweet, but only if you plan to keep it. the combined AVS/eKDSS is getting rave reviews. If the GX comes factory with a 33, 35's should fit with the crash block removed (safety-shmafety!) The LC not only gives you 20A of 110VAC, but should have electric air conditioning as well. That would let you stay cool on a sleeping platform.
Do you have clear bra below your 3rd gen doors? Where the rocks kick up.
Great video but I still can’t decide!😂
Is is possible for a 6’ person to lie down and sleep in the back of either vehicle with the second row minimized?
Funny to see them scanning the vehicles. I'm guessing Toyota doesn't want to just hand over CAD files for these vehicles.
They both sound expensive great vid
The lexus got blinker fluid
Chloe that is a Land Cruiser Prado 250 not the same or evolution of the Land Cruiser 200.
Land Cruiser with the rounds, all the way
Happy Easter. If you can afford one these then enjoy it.
We already know that 33s come stock on GX Overtrail. We want to know if it will fit 35s without a cab mount chop. If I was those guys in the shop I would have brought in a 35 set up just to see. Any real off roader would have done it if they had one sitting like that in the shop hahahah
Many Lexus Dealers maybe down the parking lot from a Toyota dealership. I can think of several. Did you have a fav color?
كلاهما جيد والحقيقه لن احتار بالاختيار الصحيح ولكن خصوصا ان السعر بامريكا يعتبر قريب جدا وساختار GX بسبب محركها ورفاهيتها
She's selling all models now !
I prefer the v6 less stress on the engine.
And less stress on the parts. See how a turbocharged engine destroys the front diff on a new Taco. TFL channel did it
@dmitryadamenko6518 are you kidding me. Can you give me the link to the video. Oh I forgot to add that it was the Lexus v6 twin turbo that I prefer over the 4 cyl turbo land cruiser for the reason I stated in my first comment.
That TFL video was insane. Made me really clear that I’m going to be waiting for a few years to see where these cars land. I don’t think the new “Land Cruiser” power plant hits the mark at all. If they flop on the power plant it could do a lot of damage to the brand. That video worried me.
@@dmitryadamenko6518it’s not the front differential at all. It’s a part in the transfer case that is meant to break if there is an issue with the front differential!! So that the front differential won’t be destroyed!
True the part that broke shouldn’t have when it did, and soon 20 engineers were working on it.
Pretty certain, it’s fixed now.
Im getting one of these before her
I believe both these suv are being built in Japan still so i have high hopes for build quality and reliability.
I have one on reserve. ($500) They are built in Japan. I’m expecting it mid May-Early June. From Japan it’s going to port in Oregon then to the dealership in my state. Luckily for me no mark ups either
I love the new Land Cruiser!
Awesome work. I like both of them, I think both of them will sell like hot cakes, but the land cruiser will probably be replacing lots of 4runners and tacomas on the road. the one thing I dislike is the round lights, hopefully they are not plastic.
Unfortunately, I would be very surprised if they were glass.
Yeah, I don't think they will) be glass.
GX !
That Land Cruiser sounds like my electric pressure washer 😮
The Land Cruiser Prado needs e-KDSS
Pity that it's not equipped with a Winch.
❤️❤️❤️
I’m gonna hate dealer markup when these finally release
I wish they’d bring the proper Land Cruiser back over here, but, sadly, the 300 Series nor any of the 70 Series models to America. In fact, these aren’t even made in the same factory as the others. And, of course, the 70 Series models are the only ones left with a sold front axle.
I still don't understand why Toyota doesn't offer front locker in the US off-road trims when other vendors are offering them. Even the rest of the world Land Cruiser 300 and LX600 have the option for a front locker. In fact the TRD Pro and Lexus off-road trims should should come default with front, center, and rear lockers as well as an uprated engine option. Previously, you have to spend another $10k plus to add superchargers and aftermarket lockers (ARB, Harrop, etc) to make your own "Pro" models. ATRAC is great but there are situations when a front locker would have an advantage.
The front end of the land cruiser reminds me of the Honda Element. 😕
Great video. I don't know one current Landcruiser owner than is happy about that powertrain. RIP Landcruiser.😔
Prado
How come the Landcruiser doesn’t have an engine cover?
bc its for men
That GX looks sexy af.
Thanks for the video Chloe
4cyl Turbo Hybrid it may be reliable but.....i'll keep my 5th gen 4runner.
Most of the Toyota specific UA-camrs I can’t stand (there may be some I don’t know of who are also great), but Chloe crushes it!
GX550 best SUV since Covid era, while the the Land Cruiser is the best Land Cruiser update ever
Toyota is taking a HUGE gamble forcing customers to only have a 4 cylinder Hybrid drivetrain for the Land Cruiser and 4 Runner. The presence of Lexus has marketing feeling the need to restrict the V6 drivetrain to Lexus. I suspect if Toyota customers are unhappy, we will see the V6 show up in a future release with software controlled detune. In a few days (Tuesday) we will see how Toyota will differentiate the Toyota Land Cruiser from the new 4 Runner. Towing and Overloading will quickly demonstrate id a V6 was truly needed for Toyota.
The GX is a much better value. Longer warranty, 3rd row, nicer interior, more power, better paint, better towing capacity....you trade off 4 mpg for better everything
Pretty wild. I don't know how Toyota plans on selling any land cruisers.
👊👍
👍
Land Cruiser is starting to look nicer and nicer to my eyes. More business and less nonsense
Gx is way to go
❤
If only we can find out why both of them have a very intrusive hump on the second row floor. The tailshaft is no where near the floor, so why is that space robbing transmission tunnel there at all? It turns the LandCruiser's 2nd row seating effectively for just two adults, as the middle seat passenger simply has no comfortable foot placement.
I also wish for Toyota to put a guard over the rear lower shock bolt, to protect it from getting pummeled out of shape by small rocks flung up from the front tyres. After a couple of outback trips, the lower bolts becomes quite pitted and likely to require the socket to be hammered onto the bolt head because it becomes misshapen.
The hump is to make room for the Torsten differential case because they are full time 4WD. The models of 4R without it don’t have it as pronounced.
I wish Lexus would make a midsize Truck with a V-6 🤓
4 cylinder turbo hybrid. Let’s see how reliable is that engine.
It has been in the Highlander and some other vehicles for a while now.

I prefer the Land cruiser's overall design to the Lexus GX.
Both are over price. The base 1958 model in N. California is priced at $74k. You got to be kidding me!! The other model is $88k.
gx550
The Land Cruiser isn’t back. These have always been here. The GX is a rebadged Lexus version of the Prado Land Cruiser, a smaller Land Cruiser model from the full size. That’s all these are. Just a new generation. The 4 runner is also a prado, made on the prado line in Japan, and sold in the U.S. as the 4Runner or again, the GX. Sure Toyota is going to release a new 4Runner, so now we just have 3 options of the Prado, unless the new 4Runner generation is made here and just a Tacoma with an SUV body. The “Land Cruise” is not back. Land Cruisers are full size trucks. The Prado Land Cruiser again is not a regular Land Cruiser. 300 series won’t be sold here, along with dozens of other models of land cruisers we never got. If you look at pictures of prados years past, you’ll see the GX is just that.
Land Cruiser trim and GX overtrail are both 71-72k when I searched Toyota and Lexus inventories. I’m sorry EKDSS and TTV6 for the same price! That’s nutz. Toyota killed the design but otherwise blowing the Land Cruiser marketing
The Land Cruiser will not be widely available this year. I tentatively ordered one last August. My dealer told me earlier in March that they would get one in 2024 and 2 in 2025. I was out of luck being 4 on their waiting list. I also learned it would not b as luxurious as my 2013 200 series LC. I bought a Lexus LX instead to get the modern 300 series LC.
Just talked to my local dealer they have 9 allocated right now... that's bigger allocation then then T4R Limited!
In my country that Land Cruiser is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado not the Land Cruiser 200.
Im disappointed the OverTrail models dont offer a 3rd row option, and EKDSS isnt available on the other models either. I guess Lexus thinks people that have families dont leave the pavement.
Adds much?
Hellbent is a strong word , but I will tell you I do believe Toyota makes some of the best and most reliable trucks. My experience has been validated with owning 4Runners from 3 generations, a first gen Sequoia and an LC200. All have been great trucks and very dependable. Loved all of them! Rather than defend the merits of each one in a forum like this , I will share the following video from a respected mechanic. ua-cam.com/video/67DdH-EvjoA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I just don’t understand why they didn’t give the Land Cruiser the same v6
I like the Lexus over the Toyota!!!! GX Premium +! Want to know the gas mileage
