Your transition is almost identical to mine (2017); half relaxed half natural. The difference I didn't do the BIG chop but kept trimming till the relaxer was gone. One of my better decisions to go natural. Although, it's a lot more work, healthy hair is worth it.

I went natural but lately been having regrets. Im thinking of relaxing my hair again because my hair texture has just changed so much recently and I'm just not loving it like I used to. I feel like the back is very curly, dry, and coarse when it used to be soft like the front. The front has such loose curls.
I just struggle because I had a consistent regiment but the same products are just not hitting right. I miss that feeling getting a relaxer. Need some relief. Your hair is so beautiful and just goals!

From someone who struggled to love their hair most of their life I can tell you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This is by no means an easy journey and we all get frustrated, I sure had my fair share of crying in front of the mirror. I’m two years natural now and let me tell you, I have never loved myself more. My scalp is clean and my hair smells like a meadow. If the products don’t work simply experiment with different ones (check your hair porosity and protein sensitivity). Also, when you start transitioning your natural hair in the beginning is not in its most natural state. Remember, you are reversing years of relaxing and heat damage so you need time to adapt.

You have gorgeous hair! And you’re so pretty! I honestly didn’t think that going natural would be this hard. I did the big chop in April and it’s been so hard! I found out that I might have protein overload. So, I cut off protein from my routine (except I don’t know if my daily moisturizer has protein). Anyways, I’ve only done this once so far. My hair is dry, kinda crunchy when dry, has this weird frizz where it’s hair sticking straight up. There’s a lot of them and it’s really frustrating. I do hard to take care of my hair and it might just be the products I’m using but it’s still so frustrating. I always have to cover my head when I go in public because I can’t stand being seen with my hair. I have to remember that God makes beautiful things. And He made me, my hair. It’s just really hard feeling confident sometimes. It’s not only me feeling insecure but it’s also just they way my hair is acting that’s also frustrating. I don’t know what to do. I used to relax my hair when I was younger. About (I’m not sure but maybe) 2 years later I stopped. I then decided to kind of transition. I could tell that my hair was probably getting better because curls started to pop in. But months later I just decided to do the big chop so that I could start fresh. I thought that it would be easier having a twa but it’s not. I used to not like my hair at all. I used to hate how thick and unmanageable my hair was too. I’m really hoping that I stop feeling insecure soon and that my hair starts to get better! God Bless you all and thank you for reading❤️

Love this! I'm close to my 3 year anniversary of cutting out the relaxer. I didn't do a big chop, rather cut away at my ends every month or so (LOL, completely feel you about wearing the bun). In June will make it one year of me not applying heat to my hair. I have many different curly patterns, but the majority of my hair looks like yours. What are your thoughts on co-washing? Do you think it's necessary? I am still playing around with different products and trying to find a really good hair regiment.

Your videos has helped me so much ever since I became natural, so thank you. I wanted to ask you is it normal to have certain areas of hair that looks dryer and acts differently to the rest of you hair ?? Mines does, I have 3c hair and sometimes I think those areas that are dryer might be 4a texture and may that’s why it’s different, but than again the texture is not tight enough to be a 4a.

Hey beautiful, I'm a little impatient, my hair is growing but I have a lot of shrinkage.. ALOT! I let my old beautician do my big chop, but then I went back for a trim and she botched it so I had to go to a professional natural stylist to even it out, which made it a little shorter, so almost feel like I had to go back a few months, anyway, it will be one year next month and I don't feel like I'm where I should be. @AlyssaMarie IDK if its hormones or what... but I was looking up how to get moisturized, shiny defined curls. I stumble across one of your other videos and I just broke down and cried! I realized I used to watch your videos back then and tried to keep up before but fell off the band wagon. still crying while writing this because my hair used to be waist length.
But I was severely bullied in school so I begged my step mom to cut it all off because. other black kids made fun of me and said I was too whitewashed for having natural long hair. and of course the white girls hated me for it too and would often time put stuff in my hair or try to snip pieces out of it.
I have not seen my hair grow past the tops of my ears since I was 16.... I just turned 25. And now having long natural hair is a thing and everyone seems to know how to make it work. But no matter how I try I have had to re cut my hair several times.
I know you dont know me, but I've spent the day rewatching all your hair vids and trying to work through this as best I can. I just want to say thank you so much for keeping me inspired to at least try. You give a decent amount of info in your videos. you have an amazing personality. So I dont get bored like I do with others not gonna lie.
