I'm glad you enjoyed studying this animal. I haven't hatched any for about 20 years or so but I'm looking forward to giving it a go again soon. I've tried T. longicaudatus, T. Cancriformis and other species. They're really interesting, I've always fed mine on fish food and chopped carrots/cooked shrimp
Once they get to a good size they look pretty cool, alienlike, also if the orange stuff you put in water was some kind of food it will quickly foul the water
So old but i hope you have learned a few things about triops. Its much better to to give a touch bit bigger of a hatchery, so many kf them are gking to eat each other. You will be lucky to have 2 by the time you can place them in tank.
When it comes to water, see if you can get it from a clean river or mountain stream, or even rain, as these sources contain dissolved minerals and micro organisms which will aid in the growth of small amounts of algae with sunlight to serve as the natural food source of the baby triops, this simulates their natural environment perfectly and I've found this way to be much better for them than store bought bottled water. Good luck with your new pets :) Edit: I don't recommend adding any large food types like carrots until the adult stage, as they mainly micro filter feed during the baby stage and the food might rot. Edit 2: Also, the higher the oxygen levels, the faster and bigger they will grow along with more eggs for the next generation. And as far as adult food goes I recommend small fresh/defrosted fish and boiled vegetables, a mix of both for a balanced diet will be a premium for them.
Hi, saw you didnt do a follow up to this video, did they not make it? (Happened to me too when I htched my first triops, the larvae can be kinda finniky). Triops have different larae stages, the fist three or four are filter feeders, thats why you are supposed to give em that dust food at the beginning. Never worked for me so I started taking a different approach from what the instructions say that comes with them. First I mix some sand with normal dirt from outside and put it in a glass bowl. Then I pour pond water onto it and stick some pothos plants inside. I dont put in the eggs right away and let that mud sit for around two weeks so it gets cycled with beneficial bacteria. After the two weeks I replace the pond water with destilled water (only around an inch or so) and put the eggs in. When the little larvae hatch, no dust food needed, they eat the micro organisms that grew in the mud over the two weeks cycling time. When they are big enaugh to actively eat and not filter feed I start givin em flake food and keep adding watetr over the days till the bowl is filled with water.
yo my triops hatched i got 8 then some died since the water was cloudy didnt look clean they looked unhappy now i only have three so i switched there tank they look so much better
I tried hatching these things before, I'll tell you two things went down the drain money and those triops I did all the steps it said on the packaging and the kit I even kept it under a plant grow lamp and waited days for it to hatch It didn't catch anything It just grew algae and some type of weird clear jelly blob thing that looked like a giant amoeba I'm sad to admit they were destined for the toilet
@@ChallengetheWild good or bad what I did put my sand with eggs with carrot 🥕 then added water 💧 And put it where it can get sunlight with a lamp it might be to high it said 75 degrees mine is 78 to 76

*brings in a tank*
They recommend spring water and make sure you actually read the label and that it comes from a spring and not a spring from Texas

Can they cohabitat with fish???
Were those triops? The motion looked more like brine or fairy shrimp. What did they look like a few weeks later?
That’s how they start out when they grow bigger they look different

Horshoe crab is is not a crab tadpole shrimp is not a shrimp

Most of these kits don't even have triops eggs, just fairy shrimp (sea monkeys)
It’s been a year what happened?
They’re cannibal
Looks like brine shrimp
For now yes 😂😂 hopefully they all grow up 🤞
Why hatch water fleas? Sheesh, James.
