This is another example of where gold normally gets exposed is where lots of flooding happens when it rains so this Brushy area that’s over grown actually is being watered seasonally and thrives. This kind of place also is a great indicator of where gold veins get exposed down the slope to brushy valley below

Since the Indians saw them at the gold ledge while there it means this outcropping can be seen from a distance. Indians use hills to scan the surroundings for travelers to attack. So from a distance they saw them on this hill at the ledge and headed that way. This proves that the outcropping can be seen from a distance

maybe that prospector the sheep hearder met was one of the original group of men who found the gold that day long ago and he alone came back and was able to find the exact place what are the gole was and he got a small fortune and went back east and lived a good life with his son and family... because who else was going to find it? someone who knew the vicinity and there was gold there... not one of the men would ever forget about that gold...
