It depends on what you’re trying to achieve. If you want to be a top level commercial facility that high level producers rent out, it seems like the mic locker needs to be pretty robust. If you’re a home studio and or small commercial studio, a well curated collection of mics is all you need to get the job done well.

Haha, I already bought the Lauten LS-308 and the Mojave MA-D after seeing your videos. This video will be my doom!

The CAD Equitek microphone features a Battery that operates in conjunction with one of its front switches. This particular switch serves as an on-off switch. It is important to note that if left in the "on" position, the Battery will deplete and require replacement. For detailed instructions, a quick online search will yield the manual.

It takes dual 9V rechargeables, easily replaceable but need charging via phantom power before use. Phantom alone does provide enough juice so the 9V batteries

    But I want it! 😁
Any special tips for cleaning pop filters? Do you keep a bunch of them on hand to quickly change out for a new vocalist?

Very impressive collection, I'm jealous! But where is the U87 ? Even if it's broken, you need to have one. ;-)

"No flex" - proceeds to show AEA R44 and R88. 😉 Lots of tasty stuff in your "locker" -- The OC818 and the Clarion I have I def use a lot. Love the Clarion on most things but recently bass cabs is my fav. I want that Vanguard V44s.

The vanguard fits into with the clarion and oc818 as do it all mics.
      Just good design.

On that cad equitek e200, they have an internal rechargeable battery that might need replaced. Or you might need to let it sit hooked up to phantom power for a few hours to recharge the battery. Theres also a switch on it to turn charging on and off. The equiteks sound awesome.

I really like the Chandler TG Type L too. It's my most used large diaphragm condensor mic. The other I use a lot is the JZ Vintage 67, thinking of buying a second, though another flavour like their 11. Or the Soyuz 1973 is one I'd really like to have for micing guitar cabs. Would like that Vanguard V44 for piano too - the price is pretty reasonable. Then could sometimes use the Chandler for vocals or acoustic guitar. Other than the Chandler TG & JZ 67, I fall back to the Shure SM7b -which the Soyuz launcher brings up nicely. But, I don't generally love or reach for bright mics. I do have a pair of Austrian Audio OC16s that are quite good, when I want that. Beyerdynamic MC930s, and the cheap but good Line Audio CM4 are my SDC pairs of choice. There's a lot of good mics in the $400-1000 range these days. A pro studio can definitely do an awful lot of quality recording tasks with less than 5-10k in mics. Though if you add a higher-end tube LDC & a few quality ribbon mics, it does get to 20k fast.

I understand this was a blitz but it seems re20's don't get a lot of love. I personally haven't used one but I have friends that swear they are great at kick and other things, Is there an application you think it shines.

Good luck with your Dante journey, for every Dante path in our Streaming studio we have back up analog paths because Dante has proven too unreliable for live streaming. I hate it.

I’ve been interested in the Clarion for a while. Anybody have first-hand experience with it and it’s tone. There’s not many reviews/demos online for my taste.

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  4 місяці тому +1

What would be your use case?
It’s got a very impressive low end. Very versatile. Lauren’s circuits always impress me. The pad will change the mics character at different spls very cool. I’ve used it in piano, choir, vocals bass cab kick room.
Even as you collect higher end pieces it will always have a home on something.

I have one, It has sounded great on everything thing so far, Most recently I paired it with a Neumann TLM 107 on an accordion, both sounded wonderful of course. The Clarion had a larger bass response, but each with its own tone in the mids and highs, both I would consider on any source with exceptional results. I would probably choose the Clarion for most vocals though.

@@RecordingStudioLoser I was looking for something that could hold the same jobs as 47FET but have a tone that’s different enough to justify not getting a clone.
I’m more interested in what these newer companies have to offer because I see more innovation in sound and technology.
