Jimmy is easily the funniest individually (being a professional comedian and all) of the three, but the three of them made really effective comedy together. The show sucks now with just Opie and Jimmy, just as it sucked back in the day whenever Opie took a day off and it was just Ant and Jimmy. The whole situation now is just a big fucking abortion.
rideordie I wouldn't say Jimmy is funnier than Ant, he's funnier during his rants or as Chip or when he's on a roll, but Ant is lightning quick with funny responses during discussions or news items or interviews and he knows infinitely more stuff than Jimmy so he can chime in more.

Norton presents a funny idea, that bears want to be like people, and Opie sees the potential for that to be a funny angle to expand upon so he tries to keep Norton on track with that idea before he starts riffing on some other bear thing. I know Opie is annoying, but he DOES serve a purpose he's always paying attention and keeping the funny people on track

In the long run the show without Opie would lack structure. Don't get me wrong I enjoy Nopie shows as much as the next guy but those shows can get derailed really fast.
