Actually there is something called the “Dog god” in jp version and that may explain the whole game. The Cat God and Dog god hate each other for some reason, and the Cat God organizes the Cat Army made mostly by the cats, which somehow became the most popular type of animal for an unknown reason. In return, the Dog God tries to fight back by making the Dog Army, but eventually discovers that there aren’t so many types of dogs than cats, and that’s why the Enemies are mostly other creatures rather than dogs. Finally, the armies meet at Korea someday, and the cruel fight between the Cat God and the Dog God begins. In fact, the Cat god only helps the player because he can’t wait for the player to slowly explore the game, he just wants the player to finish the Dog Army ASAP

I have a theory on how every unit (including colabs and seasonal units) can fit in the cat base. And how they do it is simple, the cat base has a humongous basement. Or the rest of the units are in a MASSIVE spacecraft.
