The song "The Legend of Korra" comes from the eponymous animated TV series (it is also the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender) and is composed by the wonderful Jeremy Zuckerman. This is the very last track of the entire series, and it is an exquisite love letter to the fans and the protagonists of the show alike. In this arrangement for 8 celli, I employed a couple of techniques to emulate the Chinese instrument erhu, with generous glissandi and some audio effects. Overall, I wanted to capture the sense of peace and love that is ever prevalent in the finale of the series.
On a personal level, I have always adored the A:TLA and LOK series. These two TV shows are a rarity in that after watching them it can make you a better and more compassionate person. I vividly remember watching the finale of The Last Airbender when it premiered when I was 10. The Legend of Korra as a teenager and adult has always held a special place in my heart, and for years I had always been very passionate about the music.
