For my 2006 MDX, this video helped me 100%. The screws on the bottom also have a HEX shape so you can use a small socket or 1/4" hand drive instead of a Phillips screwdriver.
Thanks for the video. I've done this before, but at my age, I forget how to do it between times! ;-)
This video is very informative. I did it for my 2005 MDX about one hour. Two bottom screws under glove box (one at each side ) took little effort to get out , and as others suggest that no need to take out plastic wire jack from metal bracing bar. The bar can be rotated and slided to a vertical position after unscrewed .
Just completed the replacement in about 15 min. The glove box removal step was fast forwarded in the video, but it is fairly easy to figure out. Bought the replacement filter on Amazon. DIY saved me some money. Thanks.
You’re great person thanks for your video
Thank you for the video. :-)
Wish there were more people with such good tutorials on such a simple task. This video made it so simple I think I might just become a mechanics. My mechanic charges me $250 usd to change the filter yearly and right now there is no way this is 1 year of use. I think he just vacuumed it. Disgusting black mold and olddd animal fur. My dog passed 4 years ago and I just found a bunch of her fur in there.
This helps! Thank you!
I had trouble removing (and reinstalling) the bottom vertical Glove Compartment screws..other than that, it was a piece of cake. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. I have a 2006 and went searching for a how to video. Not sure I’m mechanically inclined enough to do this lol
U could have explained about the plastic bar instead of pretending it wasn't there. I cut off a piece of the plastic bar at the filter and screw the rest back onto the metal bar so now it's even stronger than before. Thanks though.
My 02 sometimes wobbles at low rpms in 1st or 2nd gear when i barely press the throttle. Is that mount related or internal
I am in Hobart, Australia.
Would you know and recommend to me where I can find the parts? thanks
Just did my 2005 mdx , the bottom right screw to take out glove box comes out ok but real pain getting back in. Also had solid piece of plastic that wouldn’t come out that was in front of metal piece that does come off. I cut the plastic a little in front of cabin filter and then was able to bend it enough to get filter out ...
Thanks for watching Joseph!
I cleaned my battery terminals I have a new alternator I have a fully charged battery but my battery light keeps coming on time to time what does that mean
After I remove the glove box, there's still a plastic bar across the cabin air filter that was in front of the metal bar that was removed on step 1. Do you break this? It seems to be part of the lower dash piece that wraps around under the radio.
Ok, apparently the plastic bar has to be cut out the first time the filter is changed. 9 years on this cabin air filter... it's pretty nasty. going to have to shop vac the rest out.
Paul Reedy That is correct. The first time the Cabin Air Filter is replaced, the plastic cross brace needs to be cut out to continue with the filter replacement procedure.
Bravo 👏👏
Thanks for watching Oscar!
I can't speak to the 2006-2005 models, but while the first two steps are correct for my 2006 4x4 MDX Touring, after that this method will not work for you. The long rectangular metal bar that comes out so easily here does not come out simply with the removal of the two screws as shown here. Part of the glove box assembly is bonded to the dash assembly, requiring far more work than is shown here to be able to access the filter.
Hi how do u know when your power steering pump is going out in 02 Acura mdx
The pumps in these don't usually "go out". If you have noise, it's generally a leaking o ring, a pressure line leak, or a dirty filter inside the reservoir. If they do go out, the biggest cause is using the wrong power steering fluid, and if you're adding fluid, you have a leak anyway.
The only thing that was omitted was disconnecting a plastic plug that connects to the glove box brace, the video, just shows the guy pulling out the brace to the left side, but, didn't show him disconnecting that plug, the video just jumps to the glove box being closed again, and then disconnecting the lower right side brace, nearest the passenger door, to take out the glove box compartment again.
tomcata1467 no need to unplug. I just lowered the metal bracket down and out of the way while it was still attached to the plastic plug and wire.
On my 2006 there is a dampener rod on the right side of the glove box, undo the screw holding it on and of course re-attach later.
yes you have to remove the plastic crossbar. there are gaps to show you where to cut with a hacksaw blade. only takes a few minutes but i expect more from acura.
+my channel My 05 RL is real easy it takes me a whole 1 minute to remove it.
How do u change the transmission filter?
Glenn Haynes dont have to. drain and fill fluid is good enough
The last step of screwing in the two last screws underneath that hold up the whole door is a bit difficult.
I believe in you! Thanks for watching!
Thumbs up on this video, but stuff like this always lowers my opinion on Honda/Acura automobiles. I've done this filter change a few times now and it's not bad once you know what you're doing, but why can't Honda make this easier?!?!
So you will take it to the dealer and they can charge you. But we get around that ;) Thanks for watching!
No, unless it's a recall, my dealer doesn't touch my car. My criticism was about Honda (and others) not making cars easier to work on.
I agree, all manufacturers make it hard to work on their cars. It is so you are forced to bring it back to them. 80% of a dealers profit is from the service department.
he just skipped the part where he cut a big chunk of plastic trim?
Just paid CDN $63 for the part & $63 for labour for this on my 04'
Looks harder then I thought.
Bob Ranch I paid $20 for the new filter and installed it myself. Would you do it that way again ?
You can buy one for $10 on ebay!
Too much work .. pay someone
Some will and some won't. I personally wouldn't want to hand over my hard earned cash paying someone to do this easy work. Thanks for watching!
I cleaned my battery terminals I have a new alternator I have a fully charged battery but my battery light keeps coming on time to time what does that mean
Check your battery's ground. Thank you for watching!
