RCBS Summit Press: Bench in a Bucket

- This video shows how to pack your reloading bench in a bucket with the RCBS Summit Press. This mobile reloading solution features Hornady Lock-N-Load bushings, Lee .308 Winchester Ultimate Rifle Die set and a 5-gallon bucket with gamma seal lid.
The spent primer catcher is an end-cap from a shipping tube and smaller cardboard shipping tubes are used to carry each die from the Lee Ultimate Rifle Die Set for .308 Winchester.
The base is scrap plywood and T-nuts are installed into holes drilled with a Forstner bit and then the press is bolted from the top.
Very convenient to move around. I will often set it on top of a table or desk or just invert the bucket and set it on top.
Outstanding!! Thanks a lot now I have to buy a summit lol. I was trying to find a way to make my set up portable without having to get another press!! That is an awesome set up. Great thinking and thank you for sharing. It makes a lot of sense and no fuss no muss set up. Bucket to load with and another for supplies to load. Thanks again!
Original, the perfect SHTF reload to go idea.
What a nice portable setup. Good work :-)
"Necessity is the mother of invention" would really liked to have seen a short demo from de-prime to loading a round....
So you said it's pretty stable without clamping it down? I like it.
love seeing all the cool things people come up with. i dig it
I have one and use it quite often, use it for de primeing all my ammo 556,45,9mm,38 spc and 380.very smooth press
Wonderful idea!
I really, really like it!
Well ain't that fancy. Well done, thanks for sharing¡
Ingenious! Nice job.
This is a very ingenious and practical design. I like the way you utilize everyday and scrap items. Great work. One question - how happy are you with the Summit press? I have been thinking about changing my current press to this one and I would like to get your opinion.
The Summit has been working great for me. No problems whatsoever, and I’m able to make very accurate ammo. Get the Lee ram prime and go to town. Best of luck.
Well done sir.
Great idea!
What is the polished aluminum disc on the top of the press?
That is a magnet. I was planning on a gooseneck light but I just use a desk lamp.
Wow, thats so smart.
Bonus, use the bucket 🪣 as a seat to reload
This is great! But how does the Lee Ram Prime work with the Summit? i couldn't figure it out...
The punch holder is mounted at the base and the shellholder and adapter are mounted in place of a die. Lower the arm, insert a primer into the cup, raise the arm slightly, insert brass into shellholder, then lower the arm with just enough force to seat the primer. Raise the arm, remove primed brass and repeat.
Mike. I'm asking as many summit press Yutuber's,as I can this question.
Have you used the (Lee) swager? It has a spring loaded bottom. I think it will work with the Summit.A string on the part says it won't. I think the poster never used a Summit.
Charles, if you’re referring to a primer pocket swager, no, I haven’t used one, but it looks like it should work. The only thing the Summit won’t accommodate is the red canister that mounts atop my 9mm “bulge-buster” from Lee.
@@mikeb2459 Thanks, I think I will try it.
How do you hold it down
4-prong T-Nuts. To keep the bottom flat, I used a Forstner bit to make a shallow recess, then drilled through with the bolt diameter, then partway down at the diameter and depth of the t-nut.
Hate to reload & run, but.....
