To this day, Driveclub remains an absolute graphics benchmark. No other racing game has better looking weather effects. It's sad that Sony will probably keep this IP in the fridge forever. If it only got remastered for PS5, it's criminal for this game to remain locked at 1080p and 30fps.
Imagine Sony is just this close to having "Forza like" game and Gran Turismo in one single platform, and makes Xbox look undesireable, but oh well, because they have no patient, and would rather chop down the entire studio than getting a big Win. if this game was given 2 more years, developed and managed with care, it will overthrow Forza. Sony had the chance to break through the Forza vs Gran Turismo stallmate, yet they blew it. Xbox literally until this day relying on Forza Horizon as a Crutch, and could crumble easily without it.
Sonny should bring this back by any means necessary. In the current racing IP landscape it can stand out as much or more than it ever did... Such a sad loss, even all these years later.

True. Weather effects in racing games even GT, Forza, Assetto Corsa, Iracing, RFactor 2, F1, Grid, Dirt Rally are all super bland compared to what Driveclub was trying to do. Not comparing more profounds aspects like driving physics that are totally different and way more complex in sim games but graphically we've stagnated significantly in the past 5-6 years in the racing genre, especially in lighting department (excluding ray-tracing).
you race against 11 other cars, you're locked to 30 fps, 1080p resolution. i'd rather sacrifice weather effects for higher resolution, higher fps, more cars on track.

Driveclub was the best racing game to come out on any console by miles. The game is still loved till today and spoken about in high regard. They made a big mistake in not continuing this platform on to PS5 as it was a success for gamers. PlayStation and Sony need to have a rethink and get that team back on as this was Special Game!

Also The Crew made by Ubisoft was also focusing heavily on online multiplayer driving that focus on 4v4 racing. And in The Crew 2 they pretty much ditch the idea and focus on RPG farm and lotting system. Kinda weird how it still has 'The Crew' as the name but it doesnt relate to multiplayer racing
