The tough guy can show his emotions and regrets and the weak girl can start the path to be stronger It is a quiet episode but so much development for Daryl and Beth loved it.
Not the most action-packed episode, so it's not going to make any "best episodes" lists, but the ending of this episode, starting with the "Never Have I Ever" game, is one of my favorite moments between 2 characters in this show. It gives us great insight into both Daryl and Beth's characters, and we realize that they both need each other. My first thought when I watched TWD for the first time was how lucky Beth was to get out with Daryl, inarguably the best pure survivor on the show, but this episode shows us that Daryl needs her too. Both characters have grown a lot since we first met them, but it's almost like they've grown in opposite directions. Beth got a lot tougher, while Daryl was already tough, but started to let himself care about people. Daryl could survive in the woods on his own, but he needs Beth for comfort, and to have a higher purpose than just surviving, he now has someone to survive with and protect, and someone he can open up to. Love their relationship, and I love y'all's reactions. Looking forward to the rest of the journey with y'all!
You’re gonna be the last man standing That is Daryl’s biggest fear in the world losing all the people he loves and becoming nothing again I remember thinking those words will be ringing in his ears every time someone dies.
I saw them burning the house as them letting go of their grief and anger and weakness and moving on, especially Daryl, who could have just slipped back into that old lifestyle.
I love this episode we get to experience Beth a little more because we haven’t seen or heard much from her previously And we get to see Daryl deal with some of his past who he thinks he is versus how others (Beth) see him Daryl basically sees himself in the shadow of whoever’s in charge - Merle/Rick/Hershel - but in this episode Beth was vulnerable and he stepped up to take charge but we also get to see his own vulnerability of being left alone Carol tried to tell him before that he’s just as good as the others but I don’t think he quite believed her.
Such a great episode. It was my least favorite when I first watched. I couldn’t get passed all they were going through to get Beth a drink. But honestly, if I was her and at that age (18-19) would probably do the same. She had no idea how long she was going to live without the protection of the prison or a large group. Of all the things to want, that was probably the easiest to get. If you guys were In her shoes, is it anything you’d try to do before a possible death? Or would it just be too risky? I love the character development in these episodes. We had a lot in S2 but they’ve changed so much since then, it’s good to get an update but still do it in a somewhat interesting way. I definitely appreciate this episode more now knowing all that happens afterwards.
That’s a good question! Hmm, I guess it depends on how much hope I have in living. The less hope I have, the less I’d care about risk lol. But with that said, I don’t know what i’d want to try. In this world, there doesn’t seem to be many opportunities outside of survival 😩 How about you?
@ My first thought was get a drink like Beth. Maybe make it risky collecting particular liquors to make a certain kind of drink. But now I feel like I would look for a mall so I could be like Ellie and Riley in Last of Us. 😂
Don’t know if you knew this but do you remember when they were on the highway and Dayrl gave them meds for Tdog , there were blue crystals at the bottom from breaking bad . And this episode the young tweaker called Dayrl a bitch people think that was Jesse from breaking bad 🤷🏻♂️ maybe him .
I guess the drug was so pure and so powerful it made a new sickness maybe idk cool to think about kinda and bad but you have a good day or night thank yall 😁😁
I mean she said she was 17 during season 3, when Axel was kinda hitting on her, but there was a time-jump of at least a few months in between seasons 3 and 4, so it's possible she's 18 at this point. Either way, I guess it doesn't really matter since it's not like Daryl's relationship with her is romantic.
People always came at those of us who liked the idea of Beth and Daryl being together. Throwing around the word “grooming”. This kinda annoyed me to be honest. I survived a true predator, and that is not what this would’ve been. The truth is, Beth was 18 when she and Daryl got close and although it would be unconventional in our society, it wouldn’t have been wrong. And not only that, but she’s been through and seen more things than most 18 year olds in our society would ever experience in their entire lifetime. She’s not some dumb girl. And Daryl isn’t some nasty perv. They would’ve loved and cherished each other, the way we’re made to.
Beth is suposedly 18 by this episode, but her actress was around 30 when this was filmed. She looks really young for her age.
She’s a vampire istg
Beth hugging Daryl after his breakdown is such a powerful moment for me It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

I really think Beth and Daryl’s friendship is criminally underrated

So cathartic 🥹
Love this episode Beth shines so much and this is her time to do just that.
Long overdue, in my opinion.

This episode honestly changed Daryl into a better man throughout the show letting his past no longer effect him through burning the house

Haha pretty much.

That was confirmed not true
