How incredible. This is the first time I have heard her sing in Italian. The interpretation is so fresh and original but loyal to Verdi. Her technique is astonishing. What a magnificent woman she was.
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
@Micah Khalid I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 And not even she sings the C pianissimo. Don't get me wrong, I like both Vishnevskaya and Hernandez very much but when it comes to the C nobody did it like Caballé. Whether there's somebody who can do it today I don't know. Sometimes you can be delightfully surprised. Some years ago I heard an unknown (at least to me) soprano in Prague who sang the role magnificently, including an amazing, pianissimo top C. Unfortunately I forgot her name.
@@Feisenbach What about Gencer and Milanov? Both have bigger voices than Caballe and great pianissimi. Shame you can’t remember the soprano’s name. I would very much like to hear her. Is your favourite Aida Caballe, then?
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Yes, Caballé will always be my favourite, I guess. Leontyne Price also comes close. I just listened to the sopranos you suggested. Milanov was excellent, too! Gencer of course also sings the aria very well, but her C came out forte. Maybe there are other recordings? This is the one I found: ua-cam.com/video/czyTKHIhGsA/v-deo.html
@@Feisenbach Sorry, I thought Gencer sang the C pianissimo, but obviously not. She did have wonderful pianissimi, though, as in Trovatore: ua-cam.com/video/feaPaG_cPoM/v-deo.html My favourite Aida is Callas, no question. Who are your favourite singers as Amneris, Radames, Amonasro and Ramfis? And what about conductor? It’s just interesting to hear other people’s tastes. I think my favourite of Caballe’s roles is the one that launched her to international stardom - Lucrezia Borgia.
Fantastic voice and soul...
Leaving aside her Italian pronunciation, she was a MASTER of phrasings and her technique was flawless!!! RIP, Galina !

Her voice is amazing! Thank you for posting this video.
Superb!!
Magnifica! Sublime!
Потрясающе!!!
thanks so much for putting this on here
I'm reading her autobiography and apparently this is the song that got her a chance at her first real theater

Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Ira Casen Happy to help =)
Fantastic
Great 👍👍💯💯
одна из немногих Великих певиц.
RIP her soul...
So few sopranos can sing the high C pianissimo as written. This was practically a fortissimo.
Find me a soprano who can sing anywhere close to this today, apart from Ms Hernandez.
