How are the Taxis More Expensive Than Uber in the Netherlands? 😯

Coming from Nigeria where Taxis are usually the cheapest option, followed by bikes, and the Ubers were more expensive, it was pretty shocking to see a taxi here costing more than a Uber for the same distance ride.
And unlike before were I'd avoid the public transportation for "comfort", I've come to love it here in the Netherlands because it's a cheaper mode of transport, and also because it's not as crowded as where I come from
