No joke this really happened to me: I am an American and my father was a French citizen. I had all documentation lined up, required application docs, and all required apostilles. I submitted my entire application and 9 months later received a summons to go to the French embassy in Washington DC. I thought “Wow, this is really happening - cool!” I made travel plans and took off work to go to the embassy. Upon arriving, I was escorted to a room, asked to wait, and eventually was met with by a woman who held a physical letter in her hand. She handed it to me and said, “Your request is rejected!”
And that was that! This really happened to me 😂
