Great job bringing the Bouvier to the spotlight. It should also be noted that these dogs are considered to be non-shedders. That is a great asset for people looking for a larger sized protection dog but may have allergy concerns. Also, in this video, people don't get to see the Bouvier in it's more traditional coat. They usually have a "beard" and are a little bit more imposing as opposed to the trimmed coat of Chief. These dogs can be stubborn but once trained they are fantastic dogs that most people never see coming. Excellent video.
Karen Mullen They're beautiful dogs, I love their look with their full coat. The owner of the dog Chief states in the video that he got him 2 years ago so he isn't a pup anymore. He definitely should have his beard and full coat by now. They must be keeping his coat short for some other reason.
counselthyself Yeah I watched the video again and you are correct. He said he got the dog 2 years ago from a breeder in Virginia. So Chief is at least 2 years old and should have his full coat and beard by now. They must have a reason for keeping his coat that way but they really do look awesome with their groomed coat and beard.
My family has had bouviers my whole life. They are so underrated when it comes to their fierceness and protectiveness. I'll be honest, Chief doesn't look HALF as fearsome as the dog's I've owned and known. He's small and the haircut makes him look kind of poodle-like, but I'd STILL be scared of him if he charged me! But man these dogs have POWER. Our 10 year old dog suffered illness in his old age that caused him to turn on me-- I ended up hospitalized: staples in my head, permanent damage to my bicep, and would have killed me if my father had not stepped between us in SECONDS. Perhaps that's morbid but in a weird way it made me realize just how dangerous they can be. I imagine that amount of power turning on an intruder and I can't help but feel safe. I work at a vet clinic and my boss has owned 4 in her life. The two she owns now are so ferocious when it comes to guarding her property and our clinic. My boyfriend accidentally snuck up on one of them and I didn't think he was going to leave with all of his limbs. One way I find they also stand apart from other dogs is how they PLAY. Anyone who has owned more than one at a time/ has let their bouv play with other's knows that they play ROUGH. I remember visitors used to get so freaked out when our two boys started playing because it sounded like they were killing each other! Then when I met my bosses dogs, I noticed the same thing. They charge each other at max speed, grab each other's limbs/knock each other down.. They're a flurry of teeth and fluff HAH! But they REALLY are a dog that needs a CONSISTENT and COMMITTED owner when it comes to training. An untrained bouvier is a liability imo. They need focus but when raised right they really are a fearless dog.
This is awesome!! That guy is so laidback even tho he has some powerfull breeds charging him. More of this please ;-). Good looking Bouvier btw. Those teeth are huge!!
Have my third Bouv now from the same breeder as this dog. Great dogs. Huge pain in the ass though. High drive, very protective. Not as neurotic as the Mals, but slower to train than GSD’s.
I’ve got a 2.5yr old male from Carla as well. Lots of drive and very protective but he’s a pretty easy dog to keep in the house compared to most Mals. He’s definitely aloof around strangers but under control and easy to take out in public as long as people don’t try and touch him. 😂😂
My family got a bouvier puppy when I was in kindergarten, and she was HUGE - about 85-90 lbs when she was not at ALL overweight, got over 100 when chubby. Biggest head you've ever seen, and when you stopped petting her she would just drop her head back onto your lap like a boulder. She was a hoot. Very smart and lots of personality, but dependable, the kind of dog you could walk without a leash because you knew she would come catch up with you when she was done sniffing whatever tree. Bouviers are definitely intimidating just by their build and look, and also their bark - very loud, very deep. Once my uncle was going to stay with us and his flight was getting in super late, so my Mom just hid a key for him and told him to let himself in. He knew this dog. He adored this dog, and she adored him. But he told us later that when he got there at like 2 AM and was unlocking the door, he looked up and she was in the kitchen, just staring at him. Didn't bark, just watched him. And he stood there for several minutes seriously considering whether he should open the door. Eventually he did and she greeted him with a wagging tail. She knew who he was. She was just making sure that HE knew that SHE knew he was there.
The bouvier isn’t a well known breed over here in the states. As for myself, I’ve just began to learn about them over the past summer bc of this page. I’ve fallen in love with this breed and this is definitely the dog that I want for my family. This video gave me the insight that, with the proper training and time, they will definitely will offer the protection that I want for my family when it comes to our canine companion. Great video, Zeke!! Thank you again for your work ✊🏾✌🏾
thank you so much for showing chief he used to be my boy i am his breeder so happy for him that he can do what he likes most being and working on the field thans again carla
Nice breed, I used to see them a lot in the Netherlands. Don't see them to often anymore. Great guard dogs good drive. He is definately much smaller then the males you see in Europ. But the smaller size helps with the jumps I guess. Nice video! Keep up the good work.
Nah this guy is just a smaller one. I’m in the states and my guy is 26 inches at the shoulders and was a lean 135 lbs at 3 or 4 years of age and, an absolute rocket. He’s now 11 and… bigger.
This dog is always recommended for me when I take a dog breed selector quiz. I’m surprised at how assertive and protective this dog is, I never thought that just by looking at it.
I have a European make Bouvier here in the U.S and he’s big. Y’all and 122 lbs. best family dog who will do some damage to an intruder. Loving to all the neighbor kids, love this breed
Years later, I’m stationed in VA and training with people that have bouviers. Watching this I realized they are likely where Chief came from. After catching/working with 4 of these dogs I went home, and went straight to bed 😂.
I hope you r channel will get on that super star lvl becouse you deserve it my brother , I mean right now it s the best Dog channel on youtube but it can be more! i know , i mean i imagine how hard you work man ! Much love from Romania! Get da channel to the next lvl! People respect you and you can do it!
I had a Bouvier years ago. This video’s dog has a shaved coat. Wonderful dogs, but a bit too protective if you have visitors and children running in and out of the house. I have Standard poodles now. The best dogs!
My Male Bouvier Merlin is an all around dog for us in Maine. He is an excellent PPD being bold confidence without being over the top. Alert barking but serious stack and stare without the big deal behavior when someone new comes on the farm. Excellent farm dog around our sheep and chickens with serious determination to catch the occasional coyote that gets to close. As a sport dog his agility in French Ring Sport demands were there jumping 1.2m high jump, 2.3 m palisade and 4.5m long jump with 4.7m during practice. Achieved his FR2 @ the age of 6 years and made the podium in all three classes. He was short on pints for his FR3 attempt. He is now 8 years old (retired from FR) and cross training for his PSA PDC/PSA1. Focusing on his targeting is a challenge for my decoys, but he is getting it. Demands a different approach in training by not bringing the defense out to soon.
Great video zeke, you and smoke need to make a spinoff show..great stuff. One of the smaller bouvier males I've seen even shaved. Probably let's him work longer and harder. Bouviers reminded me of a giant and rottweiler combo. Testy like giants and they had the heft and fight of rotties.
My grandfather used to raise these dogs as guard dogs. He had a contract with the Hudson Bay Company, his dogs were highly sought after. Sunny and Cher actually bought a dog from my grandfather.
@ssp sp I wonder if they named their dog “Babe” so they could say “I’ve got you, Babe” 😉

I am from belgium , wife & 2kids, my bouvier family dog, originating from kpnv lines, died age 15 , she never ever took a step back, man or dog. when there was no bark and just the fix stare ... I garantee you play time was over
First off, love the video and can't wait for the top 10's. But what I would like to ask is have you ever worked with American Bulldogs and what you think of them, or can you'll do a video like this for them.
In the years 1900 until 1980,the bouviers were one of the most commeon police dog breed in Belgium and Holland, with the belgian, dutch and german shepherd.
Love seeing a Bouvier being appreciated and functional. This isn't a fun sports question but for the owner, how frequently does he have to shave that coat down? The coat is really one of my few points with Bouviers that makes me hesitant to look further into them. Awesome job!

I own a bouvier des flandres puppy, he is almost 9month old, and i agree about hard biting. I dont know why, but i put a thick rubber ring (from destroyed toy) on my finger while we were playing... Damn... He didnt bite in my fingers, but pressure on that ring was something unbelievable, and he was just playing. And please, do not shave off their beards :)
I live in AZ and was thinking about getting this breed. The giant schnauzer was my 1st pick but due to having a VERY VERY high drive, I thought this dog may be more my speed. I laughed when I read in the article that they paid villains $4 an hour back then for suit sessions . Lemme spellit out for ya, 4our dollars! And I gave y'all info up top, so read up on this guy Abady, his kennels. I want 1 or 2 of his trained dogs and you may want to too when you get rich.
Hey thank you for the video. Really interested in the temperament and psrsonality of the bouvier. What's your take on these guys say compared to a rotwilier of shepherd
This one was dope I mess with this! How much does this usually cost? And you should do a boerbel one that’s the dog I want to get so I want to see one Work . This is great keep em coming
I've encountered lots of Boerboels while living in South Africa. If it's being used for protection sport, that means it's being bred away from its original purpose. They're supposed to just hang out on the farm and occasionally murder a threat. They're not supposed to be hanging on a leash and trying to bite a guy just because he's wearing a suit. They're pretty relaxed dogs. The ones I've met were also surprisingly sociable with other dogs, compared to other guard dogs. (Though I'm not sure if that's a breed thing, or just because the ones I've met were extremely well socialized.)
Question for the decoy . What can you do solo with my personal dog to work on personal protection. I have a working line German shepherd ,DDR bloodlines .He has had a little training but he is 10 months . He is slow on his aggression maturity. He plays more than anything doing bite work. I’m trying to get that defense drive up without putting to much pressure on him, since he is a young shepherd . I’ve heard you can’t be to pushy on them early on . May or may not be true. Any suggestions ?
Greg Leahy Dogumentary TV made videos of the Dogo Argentino showing them . I would like to see professional video of the Dogo Argentino hunting big game like wild boar or mountain lion this is what the Dogo was bred to do .
I would like to learn about the life of a trainer, handler, decoy, helper. Who are they, why, when did they start, physical and mental prep. Are there any women?
Dude in the red cap, awesome! Funny AF and made it interesting. Brilliant video A+
Love : Bring Da Smoke!!!

My parents had one of these dogs when i was a baby, they said he would sit on the porch with me and nobody would or could walk up.
My little brothers gonna say the same thing when he grows up cuz he’s also a baby and we had a dog lol
Great job and with the right hip hop feel to it.

Excellent show, this new segment is very helpful and I like the name, it reminds me of my nickname back in days
Goes to show you there are a lot of cool breeds out there. Great video 🤙🏽

Cool killer poodle
😂😂😂
I sitting here laughing my ass off lol
Best part, you assume it's a poodle until you get your ass handed to you by him.
Yep. That’s why I got one a decade ago. I got the toughest poodle I could find :)
I have a European make Bouvier here in the U.S and he’s big. Y’all and 122 lbs. best family dog who will do some damage to an intruder. Loving to all the neighbor kids, love this breed
He's a natural..nice video Zeke

Great to see! Very cool footage. You should do an episode about how you evaluate if a dog is suitable for protection work!

Damnn. That boy Chief bites with such a beautiful smile! Didnt see nothing coming on this video. What a dope sleeper. Amazing one guys! 👊
Love bring da smoke. Going this direction in my life & this kind of content is awesome, keep up the great work!
Keep this going! Good work
First off, love the video and can't wait for the top 10's. But what I would like to ask is have you ever worked with American Bulldogs and what you think of them, or can you'll do a video like this for them.
I REALLY like this addition to the channel! Thank you Z
Was a great day of filming thanks zeke and Smokey
Love the Bouviers… my neighbor had one, he was much bigger than Chief, therefore probably couldn’t be as athletic.
Smoke is beautiful too 😍
In the years 1900 until 1980,the bouviers were one of the most commeon police dog breed in Belgium and Holland, with the belgian, dutch and german shepherd.
Great job. I always love watching Smoke. Also really cool to see a lesser known breed.
Never knew this breed existed! I love it! I am encouraged to seek out a breeder now and really consider this dog!
Love seeing a Bouvier being appreciated and functional. This isn't a fun sports question but for the owner, how frequently does he have to shave that coat down? The coat is really one of my few points with Bouviers that makes me hesitant to look further into them.
Awesome job!
Love these episodes
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
👊🏼
Nice one smokey!
Another great video! It's great to see various breeds doing protection work. Would you be able to do a videos on Poodles, Xoloitzcuintli and/or Peruvian Inca Orchid dogs? And doing a video on living with a Black Russian Terrier?
Good work! Keep the episodes coming!
I want a protective dog with a medium to high drive, preferably hypoallergenic, but I'm worried about the bouvier's heat tolerance. I noticed they have this bouvier out in the heat, so I'm curious to know, what is their true heat tolerance. A lot of different sights say they can't really handle the heat which I believe, however, I had a dutchie who could only tolerate 45min of vigorous exercise in blazing sun [which was expected and note: 30 min of exercise in the heat was good enough for me at the time]
I have a large yard with a big tree for shade, so I wonder if this dog would do good in AZ or should I just stay the course and get a GS?
bring more smoke! love it
I'm learning to do decoy/helper work what's a good source of information that you learned from? Great job, you have a good vibe
Love those fuzzy floppy eared doggies that mean business when it comes to working.
Loving this series already
Really liking this series, Zeke. Keep it up!
awesome dog. underrated.
Keep the smoke coming
Is that a young dog? He looked abit smaller than I expected. But yet I was impressed. I like the way he held on and seemed to put his whole body into trying to bring that guy down. As if the grip was just part of the work, not the whole job. I was also surprised to hear that one dude say that the Buvs extra size didn't make any difference. I got the feeling that the decoy was thinking you ain't the one getting hit.
Very capable dogs this one is small compared with the others I've seen and the ear crop helps them look more intimidating
We want to see more Bouviers pls.
This is great! best dog videos on YT man
Never seen this breed before! Good video!
From the 1971 Sports Illustrated Vault: an interview/story/article of a Bouvier des Flandres breeder:
Nobody Touches Me With Impunity (wothout consequences/repercussions/punishment/vengeance/strike-back)
The site heading begins with a part of the article, letting us know that the bite force of a Flanders cattle dog (bouvier means cattledog) is 1000 pounds per square inch. He must be trained to do this because they are people friendly, like a pit bull that has NOT been mistreated and got his feelings hurt by humans and therefore wants to bite everyone he sees after that- if feeling threatened, many breeds are defensive biters or just hormonal, but back to facts in the facts in the article:
It only takes 300 to 350 pounds per square inch to break a human bone (perhaps a forearm or an ankle it bites). I laughed when I read in the article that they paid villains $4 an hour back then for suit sessions . Lemme spellit out for ya, 4our dollars!
Anyway it is a very very very very interesting article full of facts anecdotes and knowledge as well as Abady's views on AKC, dog shows, breeding, nutrition, condition and training. I absolutely adored the dog stories he told in the interview. Need more BRINGIN DA SMOKE !
Love this show!! Y’all should keep bringing in different breeds, if you can.
Hey thank you for the video. Really interested in the temperament and psrsonality of the bouvier. What's your take on these guys say compared to a rotwilier of shepherd
Always loving your vids bro
...fr👍💯
Great video! Can you do a video on the different types of bite sports and the differences between them?
Fuckin guard poodle 😂 i love it
Great video! Cool fun decoy host also! Subscribed
Do dalmations have a working line? And can they be used for protection?
I'm liking the new video style. As for suggestions, German Shepherds or Dogo Argentinos next please!
Never knew this breed existed! Thank you for the video!!
Love your channel. Keep it up !
Love Smokey!
Keep it up I love It!👌 Akitas💯%

This one was dope I mess with this! How much does this usually cost? And you should do a boerbel one that’s the dog I want to get so I want to see one Work . This is great keep em coming
I own one and it's a great dog. Velcro like for sure, and is a true protector. Not for the faint of heart though.
They did one on the Boerboel already.
Yeah make them do that just for you buddy
where? on protection work?
I've encountered lots of Boerboels while living in South Africa. If it's being used for protection sport, that means it's being bred away from its original purpose. They're supposed to just hang out on the farm and occasionally murder a threat. They're not supposed to be hanging on a leash and trying to bite a guy just because he's wearing a suit. They're pretty relaxed dogs. The ones I've met were also surprisingly sociable with other dogs, compared to other guard dogs. (Though I'm not sure if that's a breed thing, or just because the ones I've met were extremely well socialized.)
So can you do a how to video on getting the dog to reverse heel like that? Im having a really hard time with back up with my dog.
Great video!
Love it
Cool dog!
Any suggestions ?
bring back da smoke zeke!

I would like to learn about the life of a trainer, handler, decoy, helper. Who are they, why, when did they start, physical and mental prep. Are there any women?
