Ah! the UA-cam algorithm sometime throws us an unexpected delight every now and then. Left home as a boy to come to London, and I really miss the Norfolk accent. A real pleasure to hear it spoken..a rare find on UA-cam….wishing the young lad here all the best in his filming and diy adventures!
Great channel. Roses are very hardy Cameron. Good time to prune back is January and also to transplant them. Very hardy plants. I prune mine back to 12 inches. ATB Gav
Hi and thanks for your excellent tuitions they are really good to understand. Question I have an old but very reliable system....Baxi Back Boiler cylinder in loft along with header tank and now because of disability I don’t/can’t use the bath all our showers are electric So we are heating up a large cylinder for nothing which is costing. I want to stick a gate valve on the input to the cylinder coil would the heating still run doing it it there if not where. Thank you so much in anticipation
Perfect timing... Just about to create a 7.2x 3.6 workshop/gym and not sure whether to just create a timber insulated base 150-200mm thick and sit it on pads, our "soil" is hard packed sand/gravel fluvioglacial till (utter nightmare to dig it) so if I decide to concrete it it'll just be setting up the formwork on top of that as Type1 won't be needed!! (I've got a crappy 6x8 shed sitting in the way I 've cleared all around it and need it up on skids to try and shunt it out the way first... got a Tirfor winch thing and will use the car tow point as an anchor lol)
Yeah could do. Only reason I’m not is so I can make a hard standing for working outside and doubling up as a patio at the rear of the garden where the old shed was. 👍
Top tip for old shed demo if you don't have a digger. Cut through ¾ of supports (using chainsaw, recip, hand saw, etc.) and push it over or pull with ropes. Much easier/quicker to complete demo when it's around your feet, and safer as you don't need to work off a ladder. Just remember to remove any glass first. Edit: if a friend says they want the old shed, tell them it's been condemned if they're not going to remove it themselves 😂
@@TheDIYGuy1 Can you tell... I hate ladders? Especially working off one. Even if you don't fall off, there's still the risk of strain injuries from the soles of your feet right up to your hip. Stay safe, and keep the great content coming.
Looking forward to the rest of this series! Two questions 1. Do you have particular reasoning behind not opting for ground screws or the rod system like oakwood use? 2. How is the apple tree fairing up? 🤞
Thanks. Unfortunately the apple tree isn’t looking healthy but time will tell. My reason is because I’m stuck in my ways and always had great success with my concrete bases. That’s not to say that their method is any worse or better 😊
Brilliant video, thanks for all you post! Its amazing to see this channel continue to grow, I think I subscribed when you only had a couple of thousand. All the best and I look forward to the next one!
Cameron, have you got a death wish? Going inside a shed held together by nowt and shoving the bugger around. You gingers are in short supply, stop trying to narrow the odds :) Seriously tho, that was a good day's work, well worth the sherbert at the end. Keen to see the ground being laid, we get all the guys who do drive ways around here and they are all jack of no trades types. Want to see how it's properly done. As for the workshop, maybe some electrical work, make it a station for any CCTV you install, that sort of thing. A proper good watch so far...Paul...
Hmm 200mm including sub 4x5m, I'm concerned, does it have grid rio? My reason being is that soil is so light. How much concrete you going for, if 150 I will shut up 😃
It’s 100mm type 1 hardcore compacted, 20mm blinding compacted, DPM, Rebar and spacers, 100mm c24 concrete. Been building them like this for years with not a single issue so I’m happy it will be sufficient.
Looking forward to these liked the info on regulations . The pad should be interesting as looking to do similar to store my motorbikes Costings would be good ball park like digger hire ,material costs etc a bit like wheeled dealers just a shopping list at the end of each episode
If you’re able to build to 30m square, is there a reason other than cost not to go 5x6. I ask because I have the same project to do myself. Appreciate your videos. They helped massively with my own renovation project. Many thanks 👍.
Hi Cam, Love the videos and here comes the but! I just dont think they are long enough, just getting your teeth into it and it ends, have you thought about lengthening them to around half an hour maybe. Food for thought? Anyway love your style 👍
Really enjoyed that one. For someone who has got to do a similar thing it was quite educational. Bit naughty of me Cameron, but how much was the hire of the digger? Thanks
@@TheDIYGuy1 I think technically you do because you’re within 1m of the boundary. But because you’re planning to cover it with metal (non-combustible) material then I think you’re still exempt. I’m planning my workshop build at the moment and planning to go under 15m to avoid this.
Brilliant work. I'm picking my nails eager to suggest foundations, but you specifically said you're making a video about it, so I'm just as excited to see what you do! Live your videos. As a general builder myself who takes on all levels of work, I love finding out things I don't have experience with!
Taking ideas for my new workshop! Anything particular you guys want to see?
How to make a workbench?
Great idea 💡
Maybe some solar power on the roof to save running cables for electric
Bit of guttering to collect rain water for garden plants etc
Would love you to keep feeding bits of information in about how you keep it compliant with permitted development 👍
👍

Lovely soil.
You’re my new role model 😂 this will be me in the spring
Excellent Video - thank you
Looking forward to watching the next episode, Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed this one Cam!!
Looking forward to this series!
Thanks mate 👍

Cheers gav. Glad you like the channel
looking forward to following this project
Thanks 😊
Looking forward to seeing the build come together!
Thanks!

Looking forward to this for some time, can’t wait for this wish it was on every day. Hope it will include putting in electrics
Thanks. It will include electrics 😊

Brilliant, good luck with yours!
Are all the numbers you referred to like distance from the fence, max sq m, height etc, for the whole of the UK or júst for your council?
Looking forward to it 👊
👍
Loving this channel mate. I'm a maintenance man for a care home and I've learnt alot from watching your vids. Cheers 👍🏻
Glad to help. Thanks
Put the dumper run up on the other side with a longer run up
We tried that but the angle didn’t work well because of the sloped pathway
I'm hoping for a cross shape 4 gabled roof
Looking forward to seeing it develop. Great effort. Video like this every day please!!
Great, I wish I could haha!
Looks a good size! Mine is a lot smaller and storage always an issue.
Thanks, I think the increase from the original plan will be worth it 😁
Id max it out at the 30 square metres. The garden looks big enough anyway and the additional material costs is fairly minimal.
Yeah could do. Only reason I’m not is so I can make a hard standing for working outside and doubling up as a patio at the rear of the garden where the old shed was. 👍
Nice Job !!!!
Thanks!
Any chance you have any guides for the planning permission side of things?
If you search for ‘Garden Building Permitted Development’ you will find lots of useful info on this subject.
Good job saving that lovely looking apple tree, let us know how it gets on in the new home! 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Fun video lol in particular taking down the shed . Done a few sheds in my time and it's always a bit dodgy 😅
Thanks haha enjoyed filming it
00:02 - Clarkson approves ;-) Yeessss.

@@TheDIYGuy1 fair play, man. Unfortunate news on the tree front!
Nothing better than a new tape measure 😂
Hah yeah 👍
I’m looking to build 2 of these at 5x6m side-by-side.
Is there a minimum gap I need between them
Bigger is always better, said the actress to the bishop😂also stick a ball in the hole😂a double entendre special this episode😂
😂😂 glad you enjoyed the episode
😮😅😅😮

Thanks Michael for the continued support👍
Do you give the neighbours a heads up out of courtesy when using heavy machinery?
Yep they are all aware 😃
Hahaha my first go I felt like a drunken octopus 😂
Same 😂

Thanks Paul. I will be careful 😂. and thanks for the ideas!
How big is your garden overall? Aside from the workshop, seems plenty of room for further stuff!
Good question, I’ve not measured it. I’ve loads of stuff planned 👍

👍

Costings would be good ball park like digger hire ,material costs etc a bit like wheeled dealers just a shopping list at the end of each episode
Great idea, thanks! FYI digger hire including dumper was £130 for the day. Skip was £210.

Your welcome. The only reason is to retain garden enough to fit a bunch of other projects I have planned! And the extension work.
Is part 2 on

Really enjoyed that one. For someone who has got to do a similar thing it was quite educational. Bit naughty of me Cameron, but how much was the hire of the digger? Thanks
Glad you liked it. It was £130 with the mini dumper for a day
I can’t see the next video, it’s says private
👍👍👍
👍
Did you not need to get building regs?
No not required for this. Only needed over 30sqm

Great video again mate... marry me ? My Mrs won't mind!!

Can you exoplain your half cockney half queens english accent please?
Haha I’m from Norfolk 🤷♂️

Love the channel… but let’s be honest it ain’t gonna be no ‘garden room’ more like ‘workshop, slash, MANCAVE!’
