- In today's video, Nolan and David take the Hemisphere S631 and the Trimble R10 out around our test course to see which one fixes faster. The Trimble R10 was cutting edge when it was released, and is still priced like it contains that technology. See how it fairs against the S631.

Awesome video!!!! Love these stack ups!
Hi William, We are working to get more receivers in!
I have a stonex S990A, it’s not always a consistent rover but when it’s on point it can get accurate signal in some incredible locations. I’d really love to see a stack up video! Great work guys!
Hi William, I'll add it to the list!
Would like to see those same tests done using an Emlid RS2 and FG Android against the Hemi
Hi Greg, working to try to get those in along with a several other brands!
I would suspect the RS2 would be very poor in tree cover and near buildings. In wide open construction type situations I think it would be great value. their LoRa radios seem to preform great.
@@kevinnemrava I think you meant the opposite of what you wrote, they work great under tree canopy and near buildings and LoRa range is garbage
I have always wanted to test RTK GPS vs total station results. I see these units getting fix in places I would never even venture into because I do not trust the results. No way I'd sign a plan if my crews were tying in survey evidence under a massive tree, etc. Can you show how these stack up vs total station where known precisions are 1+mm?
Hi Jay, it is on the list. These results are very repeatable. We have a whole video just on testing repeatability, here is the link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/EgZuwKsxMRE/v-deo.html. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Great information thank you! can you compare with the R12, as well as a price comparison? Thank you!
Hi, we are working on getting equipment in for head to head tests. Be sure to keep your eyes out.
Comparison aside, can you be confident with those readings under trees, next to buildings, etc, trusting that there aren't multipath issues? Would you expect to see something odd happening, bad residuals or something like that, if there were multipath errors?
Hi Doug, we have actually run a test on the repeatability of the S631 in these conditions. Check out our video here: ua-cam.com/video/EgZuwKsxMRE/v-deo.html. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@benchmarkequipment nice, I’ll have a look. But in general what does a multipath error look like with a 7th gen product?
@@doug8074 Hi Doug, the biggest difference between the 7th and older versions of RTK is the mutlipath mitgation technology and the addition of new satellite signals. The engines are getting better and better at detecting multipath signals and handling them. The new signals were also designed to help mitigate this as well, for instance GPS L5 has FEC built in. We were able to acheive repeatability within tolerance in these environments without issue.
Was this done use traditional RTK with a local base station or Network RTK? I notice a significant difference between the two technologies when it comes to the speed at which I can acquire a Fixed Solution, as well as a difference in the stability of the Fix.
Hi Matthew, we were using the local Trimble network with CMRx with the R10 and our local Hemisphere network running Hemisphere ROX on the S631. The big difference is down to the fact the R10 is 6th generation RTK technology, while the S631 is 7th Generation RTK technology. The R10 is comparable to the S321+, which we also have a video on. We are trying our best to get in a Trimble R12i which is a 7th Gen to 7th Gen comparsion.
A brand-new Hemisphere S631 is comparable in price to the Trimble R10, so if you want to learn more give us a shout at 1-(888)-286-3204.
@@benchmarkequipment What's the main difference between 6th and 7th gen?
HOW WAS THAT TEST MADE? NTRIP, OR BASE ROVER??
Hi, all of our tests are done base and rover UHF.
Awesome video!!!! Love these stack ups!
