- Palaces of Gold sung by Roy Bailey and supported by Martin Simpson
at Towersey Festival August 2012.
Written by Leon Rosselson
as his personal take on the Aberfan slag heap school tragedy of 21 October 1966
A most fitting tribute to a giant amongst us folkies.
A stunning song
Why bring a child who is going to talk all the way through?
Because it's a folk festival and children are welcome. Most importantly Roy loved to see them there!
Why go see a folk singer known for singing kids songs and not expect children to be there?
@@elainejones8636 Their parents should have a little more respect for the artists and try to keep their children quiet and if they can't then they should take them far enough away so as not to spoil a performance.
@@aliwhitwell As I say, Roy loved the children to be there, his grandchildren included!
Very sad that some ignorant parents allow their children to talk all the way through this and spoil it for everyone!
It didn't ruin it for everyone. I saw this concert every year and it never bothered me. All of the children used to sit on the grass at the front and you couldn't hear them. It was lovely to see them there, the next generation getting to appreciate Roy Bailey's talent and warmth. He used to sing kids songs too, although the whole tent would join in with them, not just the children. It's a family festival and this was a family show. The rest of the concerts aren't like this, the children are quiet. But this was a couple of hours of magic every year, where everyone joined in.
nevertheless, the ignorant are everywhere, there's no escape
