- I'm just crazy enough to pull things like this off.
This is the boss to my judge Wily stage, and i'll upload the stage itself within the LP. But I really wanted to show this off, because... well, I'm proud of this.

You know.... if it weren't for the Gunstar Heroes reference here... this looks like it could honestly be something you'd find in Megaman & Bass.

I remember the King/Wily stages in Megaman & Bass being gruelling... and there was at least one sub-boss that had multiple forms. Or... it was one entity that had multiple forms spread throughout the stage. Whichever.
This boss, with the multiple forms and insanity of it, looks like it'd fit right into that game. But I know a Gunstar Heroes reference when I see it.
Fair enough. Well main thing Seven Force has going for it over the MM&B... it's almost always open to damage, so individual forms fall much quicker. There also isn't any instant death in the fight too.

This boss blows all the other Wily bosses out of the water.

The guy who made the music for this boss should be very proud himself. The fight itself is spectacular too.
I'm watching Roahm's LP of the game and thinking constantly "I appreciate whole game/stage references, but they never work out."
Then I saw this. Wow.
It all comes down to the execution. And boy does this execute.

Volt Man - Lobster Force (both are red and have multi-fragmented attacks)
Crash Man - Barbarian Force (both run and use explosives)
Toad Man - Piranha Force (both have water affinity)
Komuso Man - Devil Force (both can split into pieces and use circular bullets)
Gravity Man - Falcon Force (both defy gravity and drop down suddenly)
Top Man - Solar Force (both attack by quickly spinning and ramming)
Guts Man - Sakugarne Force (both pound the ground and specialize in rock-based attacks)
It is still relevant in 2022. Fucking epic.
Really tempted to write out a move list in the style of Gunstar Heroes, notably beginning with *"WARNING - BOSS IS APPROACHING!"* followed by a move list of each of the individual forms of this boss.
I enjoyed fighting the original Seven Force (not the Gunstar Super / Future Heroes one, which was immensely inferior), and watching such a good fight against a boss of that particular calibre here is quite enjoyable indeed.

Good god this is awesome. I loved this game. Seven Force was like my favorite boss and favorite music in Gunstar Heroes. To see them tribute here, and so damn well, complete with victory music. Just a cut above.

Thanks! Yeah I really like how Seven Force turned out. Whilst referencing the original, it's still its own thing and I'd like to think still fits in with Mega Man.

the fact that you managed to pull this off is crazy. mad props.
To call this a masterpiece would be a TRAGEDY with just how well you did things.
Barbarian Force: Eeeeeeeeeh, *seems* easy at first glance but judging by the replies it must be a BEE-YOTCH.
Piranha Force: I..... guess it works? Don't get me wrong, i'm all FOR an aquatic Seven Force form, but i just have these weirdly strange gripes with it.
Solar Force: I don't really have much to say other than big ol' wheel form.
Falcon Force: Call me weird but i like this over the Eagle Force, it doesn't arbitrarily take up the ENTIRE MINESHAFT, but doesn't spam projectiles _too much_ to keep things fresh.
Lobster Force: Bizarre but cool, love how the claws are fired off and become projectiles, that wouldn't have to be a reference to how real-life lobsters molt would it?
Devil Force: Neat concept, glad it didn't have the same mechanics as an ACTUAL yellow devil boss.
Sakugarne Force: I'll admit i had harsher takes on this in the past, but now? I kinda have some positive feelings for it since it fills in the Gun/Archer Force's position.
In all fairness, I am apparently the only person to find Barbarian Force easy, because I programmed the thing and have the timing down to a tee. Everyone in the discord is like "I love this boss but that first form is hard!"
As for Solar Force... yeah I don't think there's a whole lot that can be done with "It's basically a wheel" for a boss, but it was easy to program the wheel animation so I went with it...
Also, i was wondering, what form corresponds with what robot master?
If I was actually clever and had thought of that... I could tell you, but I wasn't, I largely put the boss corridor in because it looked cool rather than having an actual purpose behind it. *shrug*
I don't find Barbarian Force hard either. :
This might be loose connections, but here's what I'll go with anyways.
Barbarian Force: Kendo Man. largely just due to overall humanoid appearance, and both being tied to combat in name.
Piranha Force: Crash man. The arena has emphasis on jumping (Crash Man's B n' B) and telegraphed projectiles.
Solar Force: Top Man. It spins.
Falcon Force: Voltage Man. The crazy amount of lazers lend itself to an electric robot master.
Lobster Force: Gravity man. While the boss itself doesn't really move, it DOES influence your vertical movement heavily, and damage is reliant on ypur accuracy when you ascend or descend.
Devil Force: Guts Man. He has been one of the most used Robot Masters, AND is the only master present with direct ties to the original Devil unit.
Sakugarne Force: Toad man. Both have large bounding attacks, and seem to be relatively harmless.
I would love to see a collabration/crossover between inti creates and treasure.
I like how some of the forms are throwbacks and other forms are unique spins on other things (Devil Force was brilliant)
That was impressive.
Now make the Seven Force from Alien Soldier.
...You're one insane dude. And we love you for it.
This is legit one of the coolest things I've played in a Mega Man game. Amazing job on this fight!
Fact: Ace's willy stage is the best willy stage...
The sound effect feared by any ancient Gunstar Heroes player worth his or her salt is almost certainly the one made by Tails Force whenever it spins.
It's also the sound of Green using his own version of Alien Soldier's Counter Force move to absorb your attacks.

You magnificent ruseman, it's no wonder why some of Quint's Revenge II's bosses are so insane! If this is a sample of what you can do, bosses in other projects you're in will be worth seeing for those games alone.

In a future Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest, if you decide to participate as a contestant instead of as a Judge, then like Mr. Kyurem and Blackmore Darkwing, I'd expect some very good stage and boss designs.
Oh man, this is AWESOME! You clearly put a huge work into the spectacle on this, the stage flows great! I love that you managed to have a lot of the same themes as the original but still make the fight entirely original! Nice sprite work too. Interestingly enough, I just went through another Gunstar Heroes phase, so the timing couldn't have been better for me.
Everything from 3:50 on was especially awesome. Continuing the fight to redeem the ol' pogo stick is a valiant effort :) And of course, it always has to have Guts man, or what kind f Wily Callback would it be? :)
This fight wouldn't happen to have phase order randomization like the original would it? Not that it's a big deal either way, but I was curious.
NARFNra Thanks! I got talked out of Gunstar's randomised fight, and told to go with the Alien Soldier method early on, this allowed me to have more control over the areas as well as put in midboss checkpoints for anyone who struggles.
Yeah, I can totally see how this might be super frustrating if someone had trouble with a specific phase and kept having to replay the whole thing over and over again. Once again, great job!

This boss, though. I didn't recognize its quality during my first encounter with it because of Garriry's horrendous level (no, I don't hate Garriry, I hate *his level* alone), but this is very impressive.

I know this is a couple years old at this point but I just wanted to say great job, it looks as good or better than official stuff to me, and I personally love both series', I especially like the devil and sakugarne forms 👍😇👍

That is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a Mega Man game… it should be in Mega Man X in my opinion though.

I like that one of the phases is a Devil that you don't have to stand around and wait to damage. Wow, if only the actual fucking Megaman games had that!
the devil bosses suck because they go on for way too long and its way too easy to mess up
@@jess648 Yeah. Which would be mitigated if their entire damage window wasn't one second after finishing a long and boring pattern.

Piranha Force replaces Tiger Force
Devil Force replaces Tails Force
Sakugarne Force replaces Blaster Force
Devil Force and Sakugarne Force are specifically Mega Man boss references and Piranha Force might be a joke about the Big Fish from Mega Man 2’s Wily stages

I LOVE Gunstar Heroes the Genesis/Megadrive version since the GBA sequel/remake was disappointing. Also I love the original forms mixed with the classic/original forms.
I hate this . It's terrible . I dont care if this is a reference or well sprites . It sucks . It's like king's 4 mech bosses from mm&b . It sucks .
