The Indian laurel board is a real downer on those 'high-end' Epiphones. No one can tell a difference to rosewood soundwise, I'm sure but they look and feel cheap (rough and grainy and light in color) on most Epiphones I played and quickly put away because of that. The electronic components are actually not worth mentioning if you put them in perspective of wholesale prices...

The only way I would pay that kind of money for one of these.
Is to put and 3 humbucker. Pick ups, copy it after the original. And a Bixby bring it back to the wood color dark wood. Other other than that, it's just another $400 guitar. They play okay. But they could do a lot more for the money.
Especially for the ones like the Joe Bonamassa special Les Paul Epiphone Guitar was not impressed especially for the money you are spending did this feels like another $400 guitar I like my grandfather always said you can put a beautiful paint job on a car don't make it run any better

Would be a Firebird VII and not a V if it had 3 pickups and block inlays. With the hardware and specs I think this is worth the 1700. Good luck finding a Gibson Firebird close to that price that's not a studio. I have a couple of Laurel fret board guitars and they're fine(as well as rosewood and ebony).
