There are many reasons for that. First and foremost people turning suddenly without Indicator. Someone crossing the road by skipping the divider. Public transport suddenly stopping by just the gesture of a passenger on a road that too at an unofficial stop. People crossing the roads at green light. These type of activities provoke honking. Honking is not a choice for majority of the people but its the only way to avoid collisions in the above mentioned cases. P.S. The most pathetic drivers are the local vans, auto and Tata Magic.

But we Indians have a habit of forgetting and taking things casually. That's why I said that government should start TV adds with messages so let Indian public to follow such initiatives and let stay that add in their minds forever like Maggi do daily..😊
