I think this has given me the push I needed to pick up Paladin’s Grace, I’ve loved the two other books I’ve read by T. Kingfisher but wasn’t sure about this but hearing Joanna’s enthusiasm has convinced me! I love independent bookstores but sadly don’t have any local to me. I make an effort to always buy from one online whenever I buy new books though and love visiting them when I go away :)
Our sweet brave girl 🩵 *tight hugs!* How courageous you've been 😊 I'm so very proud that you introduced yourself to new people...and new book stores. My coworker, when she opened up the little fabric shop I worked at every morning some years ago, would always insist on greeting the store and singing a little tune to make the spirits within happy. How much joy must a book store have watching readers peruse, gush, cry, get upset, and swoon over their paper children?
As a long time Annie Bloom’s patron a few facts: 1. They have an educator’s discount. 2. They can special order anything- usually just takes a few days to arrive. 3. They have a loyalty program. For everyone $100 you spend, you get $5 back. 4. They used to have a precious cat named Molly who lived there. RIP Molly!

Appreciating people who work in bookstore is very encouraging because they work so hard to sell a book, they know much more than us what to recommend for buying, thank you for having this nice gestures towards them, I wish we could have people like you in my country encouraging small business like I do.
Morgan- Your confidence is growing and it shows in the last few videos, especially this one! 🥰 You have always been such a light and you shine so beautifully in the world. Blessings to you. 🙏
I wish I could have gone with you to these shops! I spotted so many good ones I've read, both in general and of the staff recos, and I would have tried hard not to overwhelm you with all the books I'd press into your hands. I too love to ask staff I've never met for their recommendations. I love being surprised by books I wouldn't have picked up on my own. Ah, if I could have any business, it would be a bookstore! I've worked at several, but also at libraries, and I'm a copyeditor. Books have been my life and passion for over 45 years. What a fun video and I love that you're discovering more new shops!
@@MorganLong One of the best feelings I have is coming into my living room where I have a wall of bookshelves behind glass doors (Billy/Oxberg from IKEA, because I have birds and they love to chew books, and after saving for a few years I finally got them!) and I sit and just look at my shelves and all the potential, and I can open the doors and browse my shelves and it opens up such a feeling of gratitude for my privilege. I have a very small house that badly needs updating and is in a bit of a state of disrepair because we don't have a lot of money. But my books make me feel so lucky. There is nothing more cozy to me than visiting bookstores in fall weather!! This was so fun and I love how you interviewed the shop employees/owners about their book recommendations! Morgan, this was so much fun! I work in Milwaukie and have been to Spoke n Word a couple times. This may be their second season and like many new stores they have struggled. Shop local!! and keep these gems open. This tour video reminded me of your travels to all the pop up free book libraries in town. I loved that video and the evening mood you two enjoyed together. Happy Autumn in Portland!
Favorite bookstore near me, the Toadstool Bookstore Peterborough, NH. Peterborough also has wonderful shops, antiques, art, places to get lunch... Loved this video. Great to support local business.
This is such a wonderful video Morgan! Thank you! I love seeing Portland, my mom was Rose Festival Queen back in 1959 (Ruth Parrett) and grew up there, so it’s especially fun for me to see the area. I was too little to remember the brief time I lived there myself. Need to come for another visit soon! I read The Midnight Library, possibly from your recommendation, and loved it! I enjoyed your visits and interviews with the local bookstores so much! 🍂🍄💕

Yep! Definitely another cozy video! Morgan, thanks so much for the tour of the two bookstores. Really enjoyed it so much; mainly because YOU seemed to enjoy it so much! Wasn't it nice getting out of your comfort zone and doing the interviews? That was a nice touch. It really personalized the experience at each store. I loved the sweater on the frog too (that was a frog, wasn't it?)! Absolutely adorable. Have a lovely week, and I look forward to your next video and being able to see your sweet pup! (ever how briefly...) He is just so precious!
This video is giving me You've Got Mail vibes. The very first bookstore is my favorite, so warm and cozy and so very full of books. We have one bookstore in the village that likes to call itself a city. Called BackStreet Books, they have many used books and almost as many new ones as well. My son and I when he was little went there once a month to spend his allowance. Yes, his choice. And the library was our home away from home. Sad to say he is no longer much of a reader. Almost forgot, we do have one more bookstore that I have never been to. As is just outside of city limits and getting too far for my old feet to get to. You have a lovely day dear.
Ok this was SO sweet! Watched this while camping and it’s the perfect fall vibe🍂 loved how you stepped outside your comfort zone for this one while bringing awareness to your local bookshops!🫶🏻
I mean this with the utmost love, when I saw bookstore in the thumbnail I thought, guess we have to go to Powells again. What a lovely surprise this video was! Super fun! I raise my teacup to you! ❤
Oh man, I loved this video and style! Must be so hard to repeat and find more and more bookstores. Could you imagine traveling to towns to do more of this? Maybe even Japan, down that street of bookstores! That would be final boss mode, lol
I thought this morning; I miss Morgan. And then you post, without me knowing it, a video!❤ I love your videos Morgan, they always make me so happy, you are a safeplace on the internet ❤
I too LOVE books, and can just disappear into the world I am reading about. I see the pictures in my head of what the written word is telling me, and find this is sooo much better than any film from the book. Reading a book is the place I escape to, when things get too much. I would love to have my own book shop, giving away the second hand books donated by folk, as well as selling new ones. I am like you Morgan, I could spend hours in a book shop. Books are like food to me, they nourish and fortify. I am on my 7th book of reading in 3 months, and have a stack of my second hand books now to go on and live another life, with someone else who will enjoy reading them. I am nearly 68 years young (my Birthday is in November) and would love to write my own book. I feel it is never too late to try new things! I also write poetry, and walking in the nature that is all around me here in West Devon, England, brings words into my head, that I have to get down on paper, often in poetic form. I have had a friend who is a wonderful flute player, play her flute to one of my poems, and it is sooo magical! It is so sad that so many book shops have closed in England, but I suppose the big ones are still thriving. The touch of a real book can not be replaced by reading from an electrical device in my world. Let us hope that others feel the same. Thank you for this lovely video, and for your courage to go and do this. Love and Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
Loved seeing portlands bookstores after just getting back from Seattle and their bookstores as well. Can’t wait to get to Oregon. PS - your matte darker lip is gorgeous
I love your channel, it’s a place where we can escape to when we need calm and acceptance. It feels like going to meet an old friend 😊. Could you make another “read with me” video? I love those, it motivates me to actually take the time to sit and read. See you in your next video💜
😂 One thing I'd like to add as a past and future bookseller is how it drains our personal finances.💸😅 I remember once at B&N during holiday season I had my stack of books for purchase. I had just received my paycheck and we had a really good employee discount plus the holiday discount. I had to sign my check over and pull more money out of my purse to pay for my purchases. 😅📚🛍️
I just went to my local bookstore yesterday to pick up some books! I used to love going there to browse their selection but now it's become super touristy and there is always a queue to get inside.. I still get my books but I order them online and pick up in the store. I miss wandering around in there. But I'm happy I can still support them in this other way
This was such a fun video. Thank you for taking us along with you. I absolutely love small independent book shops. Sadly, we don’t have any at all in our area. I’ve searched far and wide. We do have 2 Barnes and Noble’s within 20 minutes of us at least. The new CEO is trying to slowly turn them back into smaller shops with more curated books for that particular area. He wants them to feel more like independent book stores. Anyway, we’re moving to a small town within the next few years (not sure where yet or which state), but one of the top things on my list is that the town MUST have a small bookstore. Luckily, my husband is fully onboard with this because he knows how much I enjoy reading and cozy book shops. Have a wonderful Autumn weekend🍂🍁🧡

I love the idea of having a bookstore you visit with your son!
I love your bookstore videos! Watching today while drinking my blueberry green tea. ❤
Blueberry green tea sounds perfect for a rainy day!
What a fun video. You've done it once more!
😊
Ok this was SO sweet! Watched this while camping and it’s the perfect fall vibe🍂 loved how you stepped outside your comfort zone for this one while bringing awareness to your local bookshops!🫶🏻
I mean this with the utmost love, when I saw bookstore in the thumbnail I thought, guess we have to go to Powells again. What a lovely surprise this video was! Super fun! I raise my teacup to you! ❤
Hahaha, I think I feel the same as you! Very ready to branch out :) Thank you ❤️
This video is such a cozy hug 🥺🤍✨📚
Thank you! I like bookstores and this was fun!
Oh man, I loved this video and style! Must be so hard to repeat and find more and more bookstores. Could you imagine traveling to towns to do more of this? Maybe even Japan, down that street of bookstores! That would be final boss mode, lol
I thought this morning; I miss Morgan. And then you post, without me knowing it, a video!❤
I love your videos Morgan, they always make me so happy, you are a safeplace on the internet ❤
Thank you for appreciating my videos so!
well done you didnt seem nervous at all and it was so wonderful ❤
Thank you!
Love and Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
Wonderful video! I would love to see more videos of you touring local Portland bookstores!
This was fun! Looking forward to your reviews on the recommended books.
I absolutely love those bookstores. I wish my city had book stores like those. Thank u for showing us.❤
Kudos for Getting out of one’s comfort zone. This was a wonderful video. How about a a video interviewing book store owners about their experience? 😊
But I'm happy I can still support them in this other way
I want more bookstore tour videos!! I loved this!! 💙
Aww well done Mo!!! I wonder if you’ll enjoy your new books xxx 💖💖💖
Wonderful, cozy true bookstores ❤
Great idea and very well done, Morgan! 🧡📚
What a sad world it would be without bookstores. We already lost so many 😢
Thank you for your lovely video 💛
What a cozy video to explore bookstores with you, even if I’m all the way across the globe in Sweden💜☺️ Thank you Morgan!
I’ll definitaly support my own local bookstores over here💜
Yay! I'm a fellow book-loving Portlander and as much as we all love powells, there are truly so many amazing indie bookstores in our city! ☺️ Thank you for featuring some of them! ❤
I love seeing more of your bookstores there! This was so cozy and nice. You exude friendliness and brighten my day 😊 we definitely need a part 2 at some point!
Thank you, Lilly friend!
What a delightful adventure.
Fabulous vlog! Love the bookshops and thank you for taking us with you.
I too am a bookstore lover and so enjoyed that you shared your local bookshops with us! Thank you for another fabulous and thoughtful video, Morgan❤
Thank you, friend ❤️
I felt like I was right there with you in those cozy little bookstores! Living in a city with only chain bookstores, I often long for the charm of those small local shops 🥹♥️
