When he said that I was disappointed. I liked Vader for the same reason I liked Yoda - in my mind I had him built up to be terrifying, but once all illusions of power were stripped away and he bared his true self, he was just a normal guy. With the Ewok victory at the end, I'd say that the entire original trilogy had an ongoing theme not judging a book by its cover and seeing the strength of the spirit.
***** Indeed. But also, at the same time, it's up to you what you think it's suppose to mean. To me, when I saw it, Vader was this frail man underneath all that big thick hide, and in the was human (Mortal... Because ailens xD ) just like the others, and he could be killed and beaten. But what he though was really.... Well, stupid.
I was born 1996 but I've seen this movie sooo many times .. I grew up with it & I freakin love it ... but it's kinda sad how it gets forgotten ... & harrison Ford is so funny lol teddy bear picnic
Who IS Ming-Na? (2:52) That woman is gorgeous :-O I also love the little exchange at 3:58: CARRIE FISHER: "Because it was a metal bathing suit it didn't adhere to the skin when you laid down, so if there was anyone back here he could see all the way to Florida." ANTHONY DANIELS: "I would stand behind Jabba for days on end, gazing occasionally at Carrie. It didn't do a lot for Threepio because as we know, he's not really into that kind of thing."
For me episodes 4,5 and 6 ruled. When i finish watching last one i want to go and watch 4 again. 1,2,and 3 are filled up with new type of computer creatures and effects.Effects from earlier versions are superior( more realistic). It makes you thinking that it could be real.
My favourite line in Star Wars was not "I am your father", that one comes in at 2nd place. My favourite line in Star Wars ever is "Good, your hate has made you powerful", it opened whole new doors in my mind.
:20 i know the lightsaber battles are bigger and faster in the prequels, but i never held my breath or gave a damn what happened like i did for the fights in star wars or the empire strikes back.
Honestly, I have to agree with you that it's pretty cool D.V really was just a frail average Joe underneath all that armour, but Kevin Smith's comment is funny as f*ck and really put the whole thing into perspective for me-I'll never look at Vader the same from now on!
The Jedi went down with the droid army, the invasion army, to warn the Naboo about the invasion army. They also get on separate ships that could have them lose each other by hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And then they meet Jar Jar, allowing themselves to get side tracked. Why not steal a ship from one of the hangers and fly down to the capital? Or, steal one and run the blockade to head back to tell the Chancellor. It's not such a stupid idea, because later on, they do just that.
It's interesting to think that at this point in American history, there were emerging so many children without fathers, whose parents had divorced, so this dilemma where Darth Vader is the evil father of Luke Skywalker had an impact. It's like, where are you dad? What happened? Mom always says that you're a no-good SOB.
never heard him syaing that. Obi Wan's character was influenced by films about samurai's, Lucas mentioned in Star Wars DVD commentary that he even wanted to hire a Toshiro Mifune for the role. also have you seen film Clerks 2 ? there was a fun discussion about SW and LOTR
And not a single word about the Emperor? Well, that's the way of the darkside, i guess. Always in shadows, heh. Still my favourite character in six films.
Yeah, that should have had Burt Reynolds be under that mask when Luke pulled it off. Burt was the man back in the 70's, rocking that caterpillar mustache. At least it would have been funny.
It really disappointed me they changed the final music in Return of the Jedi in the THX remastered release. I preferred the Ewoks singing over what they ended up using in the most modern releases :/
you know what really makes me mad?star wars was not very nerdy back then, but then one day, some popular kid at school starts making fun of people for liking star wars. he was actually one of the people who like something but try to hide it. some of the bully victims had became popular in their new school that they moved on to, and started doing the same as the other dude, because they were tricked into thinking that it was cool not to like star wars. this basically goes on and on until today.
From the footage in this show, I can see how you'd think so. But it's not that simple. Check out Empire of Dreams. You get a more rounded impression than the soundbite style of this pop-media presentation program. Harrison says that he's honoured to have been Han Solo, and is grateful for the opportunities it opened up for his career as well. I think that it's ironic too, because Harrison's focus on his own path (nothing wrong with that) is quite like Solo's character!
ya it's true the vader mask unvaling was dissapointing. I always thought that empire was the strongest of the three but there was some critical storyline in jedi as well i.e. luke/rebels defeating the evil empire. But Empire had the most imagination and storyline...it tapped in to the spiritual/supernatural with the force and the ending is the most intense ending to a movie ever.
My clearest memory of Return of the Jedi: Standing in line for 3 hours while a couple of born again Christians tried to get me to accept Jesus. Uptown Theater, Washington, DC, 1983.
How mass effect 3 should have ended. No but seriously the ending of ME3 should have given us a sense of completion, just like the guy in the video said. That we could die happy when it was done
hang on, did they redo teh end where yoda obi wan and aniken are standing there, cos in teh return of the jedi i saw they had the aniken from teh prequels
a lot of book/movies in the fantasy genre took inspirations or references from previous works including lord of the rings. Anyways, neither the book or the trilogy had the same cultural impact as the original star wars films, no one talks about them anymore...
I do indeed think the birth scene had no heart, and no, it wasn't nostalgia, if it was, I doubt I would care about the games, comics, books or audio dramas to the series, both new and old. I saw the Phantom menace when I was 7, and even then, it just didn't stick with me for some reason. I mean, I was happy enough that I got to experience a Star Wars movie in theaters, but I just wasn't as....absorbed into it like I had been with the OT. And if you're telling me at 7 it was nostalgia, you're an
It's a shame Lucas couldn't do a decent character arc for one of the most interesting movie villains of all time. Or even decent screenplay for that matter. It's all so fucking clean and sterile, and the new trilogy feels like it was edited by a robot. Hey, you remember RoTJ? When Luke started wailing on Vader in anger with his saber? And there wasn't any need for lava erupting or having the characters swing like Tarzan on ropes over a river of lava? The new films lack humanity.
oldfahionedguy91 was likely born in 1991, so he would've been around my age when he saw the phantom menace. Look, I'm not saying they didn't have ANY redeeming qualities. I loved Darth Maul, I loved Jango Fett and the Clone Troopers. I really like what the authors of various Star Wars books were able to do with characters and the clone wars. I just found the movies to be sub par.
In what what exactly beats LOTR star wars, in boredom? That trilogy has been shattered to dust after the movies ended while star wars stood the test of time and it was released like 30 years ago, that alone improved it as a cult trend that will not be repeated.
"How are we gonna top Dad Vader?" Mark Hamill is full of great one liners.
Anthony Daniel talking about C3PO is amazing
6:25 after that there was nothing more to say..........Force Awakens ;D
+[עוג] Alabaster Stone Now after seeing it, i see that c3po was right. There was nothing more to say.
+Izzy Borges force awakens was good..
superj33445 no
I love how Kevin Smith used the "crusty old white man" line in Chasing Amy :P
I love Harrison Ford. His reactions in this documentary are truly that of Han Solo.
Rumor is that he didn't want to even be in return of the jedi, they paid him more than everyone else to be in it.
BelievinSP I lost it when he acted all wide eyed surprised about Vader being Luke's father lmao
I love how Warwick talks as though he was involved in production when he didn't even have any lines.
After all these years,I still get goosebumps at "No, I am your father"
When he said that I was disappointed. I liked Vader for the same reason I liked Yoda - in my mind I had him built up to be terrifying, but once all illusions of power were stripped away and he bared his true self, he was just a normal guy.
With the Ewok victory at the end, I'd say that the entire original trilogy had an ongoing theme not judging a book by its cover and seeing the strength of the spirit.
last night i couldnt fall asleep so i listened to star wars music
Fanfreakingtastic no one cares.
same
Wow, I'm just watching this now for the first time and it is AWESOME. Star Wars defined my childhood.
"Black mans voice, Black mans apperance... Is a white man...
It was kind of disappointing."
Bruh... You missed the point........
+loleo123 Kevin Smith for ya.
+loleo123 Agree. Most of his comments throughout this documentary were so nasty and this was the worst.
***** Indeed. But also, at the same time, it's up to you what you think it's suppose to mean.

I know its unlikely but danm it would be nice to see Rey in a "slave" outfit.
Star Wars still rules the world.
As we've seen, it still rules the world.
How true and surreptiously correct you are. May the force stop George from destroying the past.
That is like saying "I love how James Earl Jones talks as though he was involved in production when all he does is speak...
I was born 1996 but I've seen this movie sooo many times .. I grew up with it & I freakin love it ... but it's kinda sad how it gets forgotten ... & harrison Ford is so funny lol teddy bear picnic
Seriously? No talk about Palpatine? Disappointed.
Who IS Ming-Na? (2:52) That woman is gorgeous :-O I also love the little exchange at 3:58:
CARRIE FISHER: "Because it was a metal bathing suit it didn't adhere to the skin when you laid down, so if there was anyone back here he could see all the way to Florida."

The Victory Celebration theme is probably one of the best soundtracks for an ending ever.
That song was my life especially when my teams won it all
My goodness, Jabba the Hutt filled the whole screen in ROTJ! And back then, in 1983, cinema screens were BIG!
"After that there's nothing more to say"
We'll see about that Anthony...
For me episodes 4,5 and 6 ruled. When i finish watching last one i want to go and watch 4 again. 1,2,and 3 are filled up with new type of computer creatures and effects.Effects from earlier versions are superior( more realistic). It makes you thinking that it could be real.

My favourite line in Star Wars ever is "Good, your hate has made you powerful", it opened whole new doors in my mind.
"I got to hug Harrison Ford's leg, which makes women jealous" yep
I like how even the actors never really liked the Ewoks.
:20 i know the lightsaber battles are bigger and faster in the prequels, but i never held my breath or gave a damn what happened like i did for the fights in star wars or the empire strikes back.
i remember seeing this with my father at the cinema when they re-released it in the 90s :)
Honestly, I have to agree with you that it's pretty cool D.V really was just a frail average Joe underneath all that armour, but Kevin Smith's comment is funny as f*ck and really put the whole thing into perspective for me-I'll never look at Vader the same from now on!
LOL kevin smith "well I can die now"
Always thought Darth Vader looked a little like Humpty Dumpty at the end.
The Jedi went down with the droid army, the invasion army, to warn the Naboo about the invasion army. They also get on separate ships that could have them lose each other by hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And then they meet Jar Jar, allowing themselves to get side tracked. A teddy bear picnic loool
6:08 I'm with ya there Harrison, lol
underneath Vader s mask was....Humpty Dumpty ! :D
"wait, wait, wait. What!?" lol Harrison Ford :D
Yes! I've seen starwars IV... My life is complete
my mum went into labour with me...just as Star Wars opened!
It's interesting to think that at this point in American history, there were emerging so many children without fathers, whose parents had divorced, so this dilemma where Darth Vader is the evil father of Luke Skywalker had an impact. It's like, where are you dad? What happened? Mom always says that you're a no-good SOB.
THANK YOU! Beneath the mask, Anakin is a pasty, pathetic, scarred old white guy, aka the perfect villain.
Was anybody able to watch the bits in this where Kevin Smith was talking without thinking "I'm sorry, but who the fuck are you?"
my friend was on a field trip in tunisia when episode I was shot......he took an ashtray from anakins house :)
I have always wanted to see/visit Florida.
Teddy bear picnic....
lol his eye rolling at 06:23 is probably genuine.
He has done that throughout all of the films
never heard him syaing that. Obi Wan's character was influenced by films about samurai's, Lucas mentioned in Star Wars DVD commentary that he even wanted to hire a Toshiro Mifune for the role. also have you seen film Clerks 2 ? there was a fun discussion about SW and LOTR
Awesome statement, I agree totally! Now, if they can just get the movie to THAT one right...(fingers crossed)
Sometimes I think there should be a punctuation mark to show sarcasm.
I have a something that you can use as Harrison Ford's leg, hug that...
why the fuck do i love this so much?
"and written all over it was the end" . . . until Disney got their hands on it
It really disappointed me they changed the final music in Return of the Jedi in the THX remastered release. I preferred the Ewoks singing over what they ended up using in the most modern releases :/

Yep, and Mordred's mother was Arthur's sister; there's a very twisted pattern forming here!...
4:40 what a lucky lucky fanboy! he gets to be wicket and be with carry fisher!
I'm with Kevin, the ewoks didn't do it for me either but those space battle scenes and Darth/ Luke's fight scenes more than made up for it !!
I used to watch long documentarys on movies.
Then I took an arrow TO the knee.
'This dude who's got a black man's voice and a black man's appearance is a crusty old white man underneath; it was kind of disappointing...' LOL!!!
A shame Howard Kazanjian wasn't in this documentary.
He would have put Harrison and Kevin in their place.
He was blacklisted from the films and such due to some internal issues.
brilliant thanks for uploading

it is matter of opinion. dont rage, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. also a sidequestion what is more possible in the future SW or LOTR ?
Ahhh the REAL Boba Fett!! Jeremy Bulloch
wait wait wait, the movies have been out for 30+ years
Wow. That is actually quite sad.
Nothing more to say until Episode VII that is :)
i agree, no harry potter or lord of the rings comes close to the Star Wars, no matter what this generation says. Star Wars FTW !!
The fact that they've left out to say anything about the emperor shows that the makers of this documentary have no idea of star wars at all...
Lool... That's why Blue Harvest.... I did not know !!!!!
2:27 he looks like a young "Thulsa Doom" (Conan The Barbarian) don't he :) lol
I dunno'! I'm sure he's happy to see me, but being held captive by the Governor doesn't give alot of time to 'catch up'!

thankss for the videooo love SW GrACIAS x el video i have it in VHS
so is that why Family Guy called their Star Wars episode 4 a blue harvest
"I got to hug Harrison Ford's leg, which makes women jealous..." 06:16
He thought that a caucassian man's father could be black. At least that's what his mom told him. Please don't hit me.
Ewoks=Mutant teddy bears
of course it didn't do much for 3PO we all know he's into R2D2
it still does. we even build stuff after it we gonna have flying cars soon wy star wars
My clearest memory of Return of the Jedi: Standing in line for 3 hours while a couple of born again Christians tried to get me to accept Jesus. Uptown Theater, Washington, DC, 1983.

I seriously like Leia in her golden bikini.;-P
I was talking about the droid army.

Empire is the only one I can watch. I got it on my iPod.
R.i.p Harrison Ford
