Most Nigerians stopped listening to foreign music for over a decade now, that's why the musicians are on fire. It's was a deliberate policy of the government to restrict playing of foreign songs on radio to 80% Nigerian and 20% foreign. Mind you foreign includes other African countries music, hip-hop, makossa, reggae etc. After this policy was implemented about two decades ago, Nigerians started appreciating their local artist which led to the current buzz.
We hardly to listen to foreign song anymore, we haven't finished listening to the ones we have here, afrobeats not calling our women bitches in the name of music.

Most Nigerians stopped listening to foreign music for over a decade now, that's why the musicians are on fire. It's was a deliberate policy of the government to restrict playing of foreign songs on radio to 80% Nigerian and 20% foreign. Mind you foreign includes other African countries music, hip-hop, makossa, reggae etc. After this policy was implemented about two decades ago, Nigerians started appreciating their local artist which led to the current buzz.
We hardly to listen to foreign song anymore, we haven't finished listening to the ones we have here, afrobeats not calling our women bitches in the name of music.
