If anyone is wondering, the link to launchpass is the updated version, I hope I can save folks some heartache and mental strain here, make sure when you download the launchpass2.3.5 file, the dependencies file, that you also download the source code file as well, after doing so, extract the source code file and install it into your launchbox folder on your external drive. If so, make sure to take the source code zip file and just extract it into the launchbox folder on your external, remove your external safely then from your PC then stick it into your Xbox again, click add source, click your external drive then click add. Back out of that page to the home screen then your games will show up.

Big Thanks, Excellent Guide 🎉😀 Notes: * Dolphin Standalone v1.1.5.2+ hotfix (SirMangler patched it up after being made aware), fixed the bug preventing frontends from correctly launching. * Fonts in our testing are 50/50 depending on how the font is made, some fonts use special characters or case-sensitive characters before showing up which is not a LaunchPass issue but more an Xbox UI thing, but generally, if a font uses normal lowercase they generally work it can be a challenge to find one with a good scale (size wise) to look nice though. * 4K Video work, there is nothing preventing higher quality, however, due to how they are displayed the UI can stutter if using high-resolution for every setting as they all play at the same time which is more likely a hardware issue, the Series X likely performs better in this regard. I would say use 1440P for the Page with all your games and lower if used for Search or Game Details, personally, I found 1440P with a mix of 1080p/720P if desired a good sweet spot. Have fun, if you have any requests/issues feel free to post up a feature/bug issue report on the GitHub
I canNOT for the life of me to get this to run, I’ve been using launchbox for over a year, retro arch, almost all the methods of emulation I am very familiar with this stuff. I followed this tutorial 100% exactly like you showed and launchpass will not show any games no matter what. I can play through retroarch, xbxs2 standalone all of them. Launchpass? Nothing. Again, I have lot of experience with launchbox I have used it extensively.
I figured it out finally. For me I did not have a sort order for each system. In launchbox if you right click each system and go to edit, at the bottom there will be a box for sort order. Make sure you put a number in there

This is amazing. It all works perfect, you need to put some time in it. 25 systems running incl pc win 98, ps2, wii, gamecube, xbox 360, dreamcast, ps1, n64, saturn etc. The list goes on. All with boxart and videos, all games on best compressed format (rvz for dolphin, chd for most others). One issue: what do I need to play? 1.500 games on a 1tb ssd. I added overlays and all and figured out some things on my own as I explored within the cracks. Now with this setup, I can tinker with my Xbox some more and make it look like no other. Just one thing though…can we load into LaunchPass from the main Xbox menu and not have to go through dev mode? Can it be bypassed at all?
For anyone having an issue with the games not showing up, you have the wrong core set as default, for example I had to use SNES9X with the super nintendo art. Hope that helps

First of all thanks for the easy setup guide. I followed your guide and was able to setup Retroarch. I have added Sega, Nintendo, Mame , Neo Geo and Psp roms. I am able to play them in Retroarch but when i go into Launchpass and try to launch games from it only Psp roms works and rest of them don't launch Retroarch. I followed your guide step by step. 42:10 no xml error, I copied the last extracted and copied the last backup still not working properly. My nes stuff showed up after a min, I clicked backed into setup and pressed b nothing shows now. UPDATE - I managed to fix it, put USB in PC, lunchbox/uninstall, deleted launch pass folder on USB. Reinstalled launchbox on USB, run launchbox, everything popped up again. Menu/exit. Stick into xsx, delete cache. Everything appeared
Please do a video on how to set up Dolphin's recently added control options. When I try to use profiles I've created, they don't seem to work right. Should I be setting up Wii profiles per game for them to work from LP?

Thanks for making this! I scanned for new PS2 roms and now when I go into Launchpass on my Xbox there are some consoles I can't see. If I hit Settings and come back a few times I can see some of them but not all. Any thoughts??

Not sure what went wrong but launchpass on the XB is not displaying any games. I did a reinstall of it and same thing. I activate, go back and nothing is showing. 🤷♂️

I do have question though? how do you set all this up for games stored locally? at present i dont have either A a fast usb/ external drive or B a big enough drive for my games so ive moved my roms/ ISOs to my xboxs local storage. Can i still configure launch box? if so how?

I am getting an error message whenever I try and add my PS2 roms to XBSX2 on Launchbox. It says "the path is empty" and forces Launchbox to close. It says my BIOS don't need to be installed, so I am at a standstill. Any help?
I've done this to a tee THREE different times and when I click on activate and click B, only N64 populates and even then they will not play. They boot into retroarch and it immeditley crashes. I am at a loss for words here. I can play all my roms through retroarch, the ps2 and dolphin emulators but launch pass wont populate them. Any ideas?
Brilliant tutorial, I still can’t get xbsx2 to auto load games though through LaunchPass, just brings me to main screen of xbsx2. Stand-alone Ppsspp doesn’t work for me either using above instructions, it’s almost like ppsspp isn’t installed

Before I can install it’s saying I need to download dependencies: visual C++ 2015 redistributable ?????? Everybody else I see doesn’t have to do this step. I downloaded LB VERSION 13.5.

This video was awesome and super helpfull, one question though standalone dolphin through launchpass the controls ingame dont work (hotkeys for menu in game does) but if i launch the game dorectly from dolphin not launchpass controls work fine ingame
anyone have this problem before, i have dolphin set up and it works great on xbox but when i go to launch a GameCube game with retropass and i have no controller input, however if i launch a wii game no problems. note the controllers do work if i just use dolphin
Hey I have the same issue. My controller doesn’t work if I launch a GameCube game via LaunchBox. However if I load a GameCube game via Dolphin my controller works fine.

Couple of Issues First i used an ExFAT Drive , alright formated it done. Now the Xbox finds Launchpass and the Images but once i try to launch it runs RetroArch and Crashes back to Launchpass. The other issue is that RetroArch now sees my Drive but the folders are empty inside so wtf?

You don't install any emulators on Launchbox for Xbox. You install them to the Xbox. The emulation playlist in the description has install guides for them all if needed.
Can anyone get their controller to respond in Dolphin when launched from LaunchPass? It works fine in standalone Dolphin but I can't get the controls to respond in games when I launch them through Launchpass.

My launchpass was and still is empty when I boot it on my xbox. I followed the steps on the video near the end, where you talk about it being empty, but mine was empty from the start? I also numbered the consoles with the sort titles fuction... But, sadly that didn't fix it either. Cant seem to find a fix on that, anyone else having the same issue?

Like if I just put a new rom in my SNES games folder will they auto update in launch pass or do you have to go in and configure them all again, etc.?
Dear friend thanks for video, i didn't have problem configuring retropass (the procedure is the same) and it works, so i installed launchpass too but it doesn't show any game, what could be wrong? I mean log is black but maybe I can sort as suggested but how? Sometimes Platforms will not all appear this is likely due to having not sorted your platform list in Launch Box by assigning a Sort # to each platform in the order wished to display them.

Followed this to the letter but Launchpass just doesnt launch. Its set to launvh as an app not a game, dependencies installed. All my standalone emulators work fine. Any ideas?
@@ArchadesGames hia yeah did a reinstall and it now boots but doesnt find all my games. They are set to Platform Category in launchbox but it only finds my Xbox 360, Gamecube and PSX games. SNES, GBA, etc dont show. Ive deleted cache and relaunched no joy. Opened launchbox on pc no xml errors. Using latest version of launchpass and all emulators upto date in devmode. I know its all experimental software so I know there can be hiccups :)

Launchbox works but launchpass is totally empty and don't show the platforms. Anyway i don't have a problem or an error when i open launchbox on pc

Dolphin 1.1.5.2 for Xbox has been released fixing compatibility with LaunchPass so 1.1.3 is no longer needed!

Probably not. Takes a ton of custom setup to pull off reliably which wouldn't work with Xbox. But never say never.

I seem to have issues booting up Retroarch and XBSX2, dolphin works fine. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I am getting an error message whenever I try and add my PS2 roms to XBSX2 on Launchbox. It says "the path is empty" and forces Launchbox to close. It says my BIOS don't need to be installed, so I am at a standstill. Any help?
I've done this to a tee THREE different times and when I click on activate and click B, only N64 populates and even then they will not play. They boot into retroarch and it immeditley crashes. I am at a loss for words here. I can play all my roms through retroarch, the ps2 and dolphin emulators but launch pass wont populate them. Any ideas?
Brilliant tutorial, I still can’t get xbsx2 to auto load games though through LaunchPass, just brings me to main screen of xbsx2. Stand-alone Ppsspp doesn’t work for me either using above instructions, it’s almost like ppsspp isn’t installed
You have to use a special build of PPSSPP for it to work and XBSX2.0 needs an update.

Everybody else I see doesn’t have to do this step. I downloaded LB VERSION 13.5.

Thank you for this tutorial, although I noticed when closing a game in XBSX2 it will not boot back into XBSX2 or Launchpass it just stays stuck at a blackscreen. Do you happen to know a fix for this?
This video was awesome and super helpfull, one question though standalone dolphin through launchpass the controls ingame dont work (hotkeys for menu in game does) but if i launch the game dorectly from dolphin not launchpass controls work fine ingame
I haven't experienced that problem personally. Have you manually edited them on PC?
anyone have this problem before, i have dolphin set up and it works great on xbox but when i go to launch a GameCube game with retropass and i have no controller input, however if i launch a wii game no problems. note the controllers do work if i just use dolphin
Hey I have the same issue. My controller doesn’t work if I launch a GameCube game via LaunchBox. However if I load a GameCube game via Dolphin my controller works fine.
after i added everything on launchbox no box covers show up anyway i can fix it

Couple of Issues First i used an ExFAT Drive , alright formated it done.
Now the Xbox finds Launchpass and the Images but once i try to launch it runs RetroArch and Crashes back to Launchpass.
The other issue is that RetroArch now sees my Drive but the folders are empty inside so wtf?
Fixed the Other Issue now it sees my files , but launchpass goes back to the main menu after the games.
I'm having trouble installing the standalone version of PPSSPP. It's giving me an error saying the app is for arm architecture and the system only supports x64.

Hey hey. I was wondering if it's possible to use this or a different front-end while running internal? I love Big Box on PC and was wanting to get the same vibe on Xbox. I have a curated list up to PS1 on Xbox Series S that I use for just emulation but no hard drive. Would appreciate just letting me know if you know of any way/app? Flycast isn't supported. If using XBSX2.0 you need to wait for an update.
Question, do I need to install the Emulators and Cores before I set up LaunchBox on my Xbox Drive, or are they already preinstalled into Launchbox?
You have to set them up first

You don't install any emulators on Launchbox for Xbox. You install them to the Xbox. The emulation playlist in the description has install guides for them all if needed.

Can anyone get their controller to respond in Dolphin when launched from LaunchPass? It works fine in standalone Dolphin but I can't get the controls to respond in games when I launch them through Launchpass.

Cool. Try moving the retropass stuff off the USB and see if it was conflicting

Yeah the retropass xml and retropass folder if there is one. Just copy them to a PC temporarily or something.
My launchpass was and still is empty when I boot it on my xbox. I followed the steps on the video near the end, where you talk about it being empty, but mine was empty from the start? I also numbered the consoles with the sort titles fuction... But, sadly that didn't fix it either. Cant seem to find a fix on that, anyone else having the same issue?

Great tutorial as always, thank you! Once you have this all setup and running and you decide to add more games later, will they automatically update in your library here? Like if I just put a new rom in my SNES games folder will they auto update in launch pass or do you have to go in and configure them all again, etc.?

Sometimes Platforms will not all appear this is likely due to having not sorted your platform list in Launch Box by assigning a Sort # to each platform in the order wished to display them.
I used add folder instead of files for Xenia Canary and now there’s way to much stuff on the games list. Is there any way I can reverse it?
Delete the system listing in Launchbox by right clicking on it in the left panel

These guides are a lifesaver, mate. Quick question. If i have all my games and saves running from external ssd drive can i plug that into a different xbox to continue playing from where i left off?? (Obviously once ive set up retroarch etc on that second console)

Mine is doing the same thing. It used to work and I’ve reinstalled but it still stalls on the logo. Could you update if you find a solution?

You don't use FTP to do any of this
An important point is missed in the tutorial. Launchbox needs to be in your external drive (same as your games) in order to this to work.
That is literally said in the video...
Followed this to the letter but Launchpass just doesnt launch. Its set to launvh as an app not a game, dependencies installed. All my standalone emulators work fine. Any ideas?

@@ArchadesGames hia yeah did a reinstall and it now boots but doesnt find all my games. They are set to Platform Category in launchbox but it only finds my Xbox 360, Gamecube and PSX games. SNES, GBA, etc dont show. Ive deleted cache and relaunched no joy. Opened launchbox on pc no xml errors. Using latest version of launchpass and all emulators upto date in devmode. I know its all experimental software so I know there can be hiccups :)
On PC Launchbox you might have to add different sorting to get things to show up. But good it is running now!

Hello to all 🙂, is it normal that i have the impression that Launchpass resolution on xbox serie x is not very good ,some covers of the game is very ugly or poor quality ? Anything to change in option on pc before start on xbox ? And for me i have Launchpass 2.2.0 and dolphin stop with Black screen just after select a game ,i have the logo dolphin and return to home dev, xbsx2. 0 not works too , i have a message for download an app when i select a game,sorry too many question but i ve tested all before ask here 😟
