Wow the Bishops Blaize has changed since last time I was in there, once upon a time it was wipe your feet on your way out. I left the area 13 or so years ago and it was a right dive. It’s so nice to see that it’s looking really well and as it should be, well done to whoever got all the work done.
Ref: 13:30 "I spend all my money on beer and fish 'n' chips". Maybe you should rename your channel 'By The Carb' ! That was a nice day out you had there.
Hi James & Helen , me and the missus got a couple of those badges, because she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's& dementia 2 years ago right on our retirement. We both love watching your vlogs because you remind us of ourselves when we were your ages. Keep up great vlogs, best wishes to you both x
Your closing shots of the cricket ground remind me of probably my greatest "put down". I was batting for Richmondshire in an important cup match in front of a large crowd in 1963. I hit the ball for a six over the bowler, out of the ground and into the Zetland Cinema. When it was our turn to field I was near the boundary when play was delayed. An old man seated with his three pals shouted me across. "I bet you'll remember that shot; you'll dream of that shot young 'un" he said in a loud voice.I turned back to the pitch when play resumed. The old man shouted me back. "I saw Brian Close (Yorkshire and England) play the same shot young 'un. His shot went OVER the cinema!" he shouted. I can still hear the crowd laughing.
Liked the craft fair; that woman who painted the stones was really talented - ‘girl with a pearl earring’ by Vermeer as well as ‘the son of man’ by Magritte! The original painting by Vermeer is now worth millions and Paul McCartney used to collect original Magritte paintings!
Lovely traditional market town in a wonderful part of the world, you showed one of my favourite parts, the falls on the river, I remember walking right out "into the river" on the little jetty, pretty scary as I can't swim !! My main reason for going the first time was to visit what at the time was voted the most scenic football ground in the country, Richmond Town used to play at Earls Orchard, just across the River Swale in the shadow of the castle and you get a fantastic view of the castle from down by the pitch or up on the slopes surrounding it - Ithink I saw more of it then you two !! ;-) ... I made a point of going back to stay at a Travelodge a couple of mliles east of the town just off the A1 as a base for exploring the Dales a couple fo years later. You chose well ... and you keep going to some of my favourite places I'vve visited in the UK !!!
( Seriously James ) the music you used for Helen's charity shop raid at 9:35.....that should be the go to theme for every charity shop Helen is filmed in. The music made that part of the video feel like an independent segment. And that opening churchyard... I have been a hobo ( for real ) for large periods of my life. I woke up in a church , and churchyard, very similar to the opening one here. 5 a.m. Already very warm. It was a little hard to breath because there was a lot of insects and pollen in the warm, thin air. The point is: I had a bit of an awakening as I sat with the first tea of the day . As I looked at the headstones I realised that for he poor , females, the mentally and/ or physically disabled, the homeless, etc, etc, etc,, these idylls must have been a living prison. ( If you were old the chances are that you would lose your property and end your days in the local poor house. If you lost someone: while you grieved you would be hauled-off to the local asylum. Why? Because they considered grief as a mental illness.) . Anyway.....how was Richmond?!!
Enjoyed this one a lot. We got married in Richmond and visit every year. Some of the surrounding villages are stunningly beautiful as well. We would recommend a stay at Brompton Lakes just outside Richmond and a visit to Mainsgill Farm shop near the A66. One day we might just relocate into the area away from South Yorkshire.
Must be 20years since we went to Richmond and it looks completely different obviously my memory lets me down so lovely to be able to see it all again through you both. Thank you both.xx
Just to add to the suggestions for places to go, there’s a village in the Cotswolds called Barnsley, believe it or not. There’s not much there to be fair (a pub and a country house hotel, and Liz Hurley allegedly!) but it is midway between Cirencester and Bibury, both of which are beautiful places. So if you are looking to go a bit farther afield, have a look down there. Keep up the good work ❤
Thanks for doing the Guinness test, so the taste was pretty good, glad you to hear you liked it. Helen is so right, you can't afford to buy "stuff" when you need to buy food and other necessities and then where do you keep this "stuff". Glad you got the shot of them playing cricket, I've only seen it done on the movies. I ike Helen's, oo"s, you know something interesting is coming. I so enjoyed your walk around Richmond and seeing the Abbey and the story of the drummer boy. Beautiful countryside there. You two have a wonderful week and maybe some up and coming oos will come your way.
Hi Helen the tree you were thinking about that attracts butterflies is called a Budhea as we’ve got about 10 + of them in split between the back and front gardens and the amount of butterflies we have flying round every year is remarkable as they are all colours that arrive,
You did well James, that was I good look round them Old properties , Helen once again chatting to the locals I love hearing your banter when hen wanders off lol. Great vlog once again. 😊
What a beautiful town, really want to visit Richmond now, does look a bit like Alnwick. Loving the charity shop visit and the craft fair, Helen must have loved that. Brilliant vlog😊
So glad you visited a railway station as i put on at a pass vlog , think it was Norwich one i mentioned , and said about Keighley, , Haworth, your doing brill vlogs now , ha ha get walking lad put your best foot forward , aww they could have let you look more at there house , id would have said come in ill put kettle on, and show off, i would have said shiting hell at pigeon, , what a beautiful place were abbey is , watched becks vlog at kite do nice to see your mum and nephew, all the trees look lush , i fancy cream tea please , james young man you have beers and fish and chips when helens working , ha ha fancy meals remember the days you use to have your cornbeef butties , wow look at that gate at castle , was it castles cat not the mills cat , not many people about , you should have gone for cream tea at 🏏 they put a good spread on , thanks for taking us with you xx😘👍👊
Wilkin and son's ( The makers of the brown sauce) have a museum and tea room at their factory in Tiptree in Essex. I'm from Witham in Essex but live in London now.

You absolutely should visit Richmond and for that matter the whole of North Yorkshire because I had a short posting at Richmond barracks’s the general impression I got was one nicest postings I’ve ever had but for me the river swale was top notch in fishing
What a lovely Vlog once again you two. There is a lovely Indian Restaurant in the square that allows you to bring your own alcohol as they are not licensed, we've used it many times when coming back to Keswick from the Fatherland (Rotherham). It really is a lovely town and just a stones throw from the A66/Scotch Corner.
Hello, you two, another lovely part of North Yorkshire, you're covering some nice areas and great to see Helen back as you are great together, but nice the way you spread it between yourself and as a duo, nice balance that works for you.
We went to the Little Drummer Boy Tea Room on Monday and oh my days - one of the best breakfasts I've ever consumed. Every element was spot on - highly recommended!!!
Another gorgeous place to visit, thank you both that was very interesting it looked lovely in the sunshine, makes all the difference doesn’t it , better than the rain we had today… Take care both and see thee in the next one ☺️
Another fun and informative vlog from Jamlen, in a very lovely setting 😍✨ (..and James actually encouraging Helibobs to enter a charity shop - who'd have thought! 😆✨). Uplifting scenery, snippets of local lore, the odd (wonderfully mischievous) double-entendre 😚✨and always washed down with a fine Craft Ale (or two!). Thank you Jamlen, for another entertaining travelogue! 🍻💖✨✨
Brings happy memories back of Richmond with my parents. Mum passed away 2015 suddenly. I was living in County Durham at the time. Back home in Wales now 😊🏴 Great blog, lovely to see you both enjoying yourselves. Life is short, enjoy every minute. Have a great week both. Dawn & Jay xx 🤩🌞🍺🍷
At Easby Abbey you should have kept walking and you would have passed the Little Drummer Boy stone. Then left over the road bridge back to the Station. It is called The Easby Loop. Great video by the way.
Another great video. As it happens my surname is Easby. Nice to have an abbey and a hall named after you ! I also find grave yards can be very peaceful places. Love the way you and Helen review your meals and drinks. Thank you both for what you do.
was supposed to go abroad for my 60th then covid happened...ended up in richmond tbf was a good place to take in all of wensleydale etc...good views from top of castle, just spent weekend in lincoln thanks for the heads up with the museum of lincolnshire life good museum for free
That breakfast looked lovely, can't believe you didn't finish with brown sauce on toast though... tastes so good 😋 Really enjoyed that video, looks like a great place to visit. Many thanks for that, all the best to you both, David
Hopefully this one will tip you over the 50K mark, you deserve it after what you put yourself through with that last week of going up and dozen the country.

I'm only one behind now James, should be level by teatime. Britania Hotel Manchester by the look of it, I might keep one eye closed through that one. You made Richmond look very interesting, did you notice how Helen was being taken off by the pigeons in the Abbey Ooooo. Don't know if you have ever listened properly to wood pigeons but they actually say "We are so busy, yes we are so busy" once heard you will never forget. I spend half my life saying "You're not kidding anyone, you've done bugger-all all day" Keep up the great video's guys...

Just watching now and the pub you stayed at we stayed there last year when we hired a campervan it was ok except the church bells kept me awake
Hi really nice that you enjoy places in North Yorkshire it really suits you both the Yorkshire dales we live in masham yes we liked that blog too, we do the walk to the Abbey in Richmond quite often and reward ourselves with a coffee in the station .. then a look around the charity shop for a bargain tell James he got very lucky not to be overcome by motorcyclist as they do like to visit Richmond .. it makes me laugh when i see him roll his eyes when one rides by i wait for his reaction.. its so funny any way Both of you keep up good blogs your like North Yorkshire royalty the way you support these wonderful small Yorkshire towns that need support like you surely bring kind regards Steve and Annie Masham the town with two breweries
