When I was 3 or 4 years old, my neighbor gave me a dollar bill folded up like this. I couldn’t figure out how to unfold it, so I spent it at a garage sale that week, still folded up, haha. I bought a pair of Fisher Price strap-on roller skates. I randomly remembered this event and went looking for a tutorial for how it was done. Thank you for this video :)
This is my favorite party trick. My mom was showing this in the 1980s by a man who had given one to a waitress and the story goes that he came back to the restaurant years later and she still had it and asked him to open it for her
Similar to some of the other stories here, when I was around 3-4 an older man in his 50s(?) Gave me a dollar in this same shape. I still have it in my little box of mementos 30 years later. I plan on taking the one I just made alongside this video and giving it to a kid when I'm in my 50s as well, keep the mystery going. Thanks Kevin
What a great way to give cash!! I've given origami money before but this is by far my favorite!! Keeps the recipient guessing on how much they were given lol
Be Kind🌸🖤 I had the same thought! Could make it cute or more enjoyable with a small Santa bag of ones, fives or tens and add in candy and note saying how to unfold it, with tooth pick taped to the note! I'd actually be happy if ever get a bag like that for my birthday lol December baby! 🤣 I found my new favorite video even though my birthday is still months away!
HOLY SHIT I WAS AT A TIMMIES AND THEN SOMEONE GAVEME A 5 DOLLAR BULL LIKE THIS AND IT TOOK ME LIKE 15 MINUTES TO UNFOLD AND NOW IM TRYING TO MAKE A DOLLAR LIKE THAT TI GIVE SOMEONE
I'm obsessed with folding them now that I know how. Omg thank you so much! :) I have a shell wallet so sometimes I want my dollars more compact. This was perfect! And I folded some to tape in a card for a relative of mine (I put the link to the video on the back so they know how to unfold it).
Are you bob Ross long lost cousin? Your voice is really chill and relaxing, this video was very helpful. I was trying to find a way to fold money smaller, to fit into this coin bank I bought, since I get tips at this job I have.
I love the impossible triangle ! I just did mine! Thank you for the easy instruction folding I'm gifting it to my nephew! Do you have anymore unusual origami dollar bill?
i am in my late 30s. I can recall the tooth fairy from my childhood leaving the money folded like this and in a small plastic treasure chest - being a Dad it is the reason I looked up how to do this video.
Okay so this man gave me this dollar for a tip while I was working and he had it in this impossible fold thing see the thing is I kinda cheated and looked up impossible dollar fold and I found this didint know it was that simple to unfold it

I made a design for a origami martini and put a video up new years day, it started with your bowtie
This tooth fairy leaves an origami dollar bill for each tooth. Thanks for a new idea.

thanks kevin! tried doing this via a website with pictures and text only but i got confused during the last parts, yikes. 😅 amazing video!
This is the tip I give when I get bad service or catch them unfolding my stuff in front of me.
Thank you this helped a lot !
I totally forgot about this. My dad taught me when i was a kid.
Does this work with a $1 bill?
I don't think so, a $1 bill is 6.14 inches by 2.61 inches, while a $5 bill is 15.5956 by 6.6294 cm.
It works! I have folded 1's, 5's, 10's, and 20's. Works perfect for all paper currency.
I did this with a "raw" rolling paper😂 it was so hard because they're so thin, but i got it and it's super small and fragile
Thanks! got one of these has a prank Christmas gift!
I’ve had this memorized since I learned it in the 80s
Great video! Love it! Thanks for this.😃
