The Precentor is the late Rev. Canon Claude Palfrey.
May I say I was horrified to learn of David Trendell's death. I used to attend the cathedral during this period and it was always a joy to hear David's voice.

Do you know who the Bass soloist was in the Nunch Dimittis?

Arrrgghh pity to cut off the organ voluntary!

As I have said many times before it is not us who cuts off the organ voluntary or chops out the lessons! We get recordings of BBC Choral Evensongs from many different people and from that date of that broadcast probably on reel-to-reel tape. To save tape, many who did the recordings did not record the lessons or final voluntary.

@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic Hi sorry, yep I know. Didn't mean to vent at ARCM. It's fantastic to have all these evensongs available to listen to. I was just expressing my general exasperation! Thanks.
