  • If you've only ever heard about a motor being single-phased, overloaded or failed because of a shorted turn before, now you can see pictures of we see when we strip a motor down to repair it. Electric motor repair, electric motor windings, three phase motor, rewinds, engineering, maintenance and repair, failure analysis, fault analysis.

    As a professional winder I'd like more in-depth explanation of the various failures in this video. I am mostly self-taught but I love your videos. I work for a smaller shop and am more or less in charge of this sort of thing. You've helped a lot so I don't expect much more but any help is better than nothing.

    I really enjoy these videos on motors from an industry expert. I feel like I'm watching "Techmoan - big power edition" :-)

    In easa website they say that 1% voltage unbalance may result in 6 to 10% current unbalance. Any references to this information please!
    Thanks for all the work you are giving. I love it

    why are the surge failures only showing up on the connection side?

    Very interesting! I'm surprised they don't put any sort of thermal cutout or fuse on the stator to protect the windings from overheating.

    I’ve rebuilt are electric insulation blowers for the last 10 years. For a year now everytime I run 4 at the same time1 of them pops a breaker. I can’t figure out what is causing this. I feel like I’ve replaced all blower components and the electrical that leads up to it.some advise pleaseeeee

    Any chance you could show a really badly damaged motor? It would be nice to see how you recover a basket case. Great videos.

    what happens when one of three windings is wired in opposite direction?

    • @FletcherMoorland
      @FletcherMoorland  2 роки тому +1

      I'm just trying to figure out your question here. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask 'wired in opposite direction' If the motor leads are wired L1, L3, L2 then the motor will spin in one direction. If it's L1, L2, L3 it will spin in the opposite direction. There is a chance of reversing a coil in the windings if a mistake is made in the connection. If that's what you are asking then the motor will not rotate properly, depending on the number of poles (Speed) it could cog, it could pull higher current on the phase with the fault and eventually it will burn that coil and the motor will fail.
