two of the nct members Ten and WinWin created their own choreography to Lovely by billie eilish and Khalid and I think it would be really cool to see your reaction to it!

maybe a reason to why they have some members lined up in the back is because of the sub-units. in the beginning, the guy with sliver hair and the people dancing with him were from NCT 127 and after, more members jump over them in the choreography, representing NCT Dream, throughout the choreo they come together as one; NCT 2018, then later branch off again for NCT U
edit- for those of you that are triggered, i didn’t say this was the exact thing as to why they split up. From my observations i see that they see to be splitting up by sub unit and yes i know for the last time that johnny and Lucas are not from NCT dream. I simply meant the part when MARK JUMPS OVER THEM.

Regina well on that part it isn’t nct dream, i just meant the part when mark jumps over them because he yells out nct were the dream dream something korean lol
nah i appreciate this but i dont think its what the dance means. Lucas and Johnny are obviously not from NCT Dream when they dance in Mark's rap. if you watch the old video of them dancing this song in MAMA when Lucas and Jungwoo havent joined yet, you will see that in Mark's part it was the dancers dancing, not the members. so the only reasons i can think of is that, Jaemin came back after almost 2 years hiatus (so basically he's new), Jungwoo and Johnny just freshly joined, and Johnny was the newest member joining 127 at the time the song released. so maybe, everyone thought it was a good idea to let them show off their skills bc Grace did say that, that part was very difficult so maybe they can show off the skills more with that high technique part.

I've always felt that Ten (the main dancer who did that solo) has a lot of classical/modern influence in his dancing as well! He's actually never trained in it though. You should react to Ten and WinWin's (two members of NCT) dance to Lovely by Billie Eilish. They choreographed the whole routine. It's meant to be a modern dance, but again, Ten and WinWin have no formal training in that style, so I'd be really interesting in hearing your thoughts on it!

This may sound a bit complicated but if you have time I would recommend watching and checking out two members from Wayv’s own choreography to Billie Eilish and Khalid’s lovely. It’s a little short but the two of them, Ten and Winwin both make it very emotional and beautiful in my opinion. Thanks!
Yess!!! Was just gonna recommend this!! It’s also contemporary and modern dancing so she may have more to comment on :) both WinWin and Ten (the one who got the solo in this video) choreographed it.
Ten is well versed in many genres of dance (you have to check out his solo dances like Dream in a Dream and Hero and his covers), while WinWin is trained in traditional Chinese dancing!

Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Ten on Hit The Stage? He is the member you talked about doing an "S curve" and he is indeed the best dancer among all 21 members. The things he did on HTS are inhuman and there's a VARIETY of dance styles he incorporated for his stages. Ballet, modern, tap, hiphop, contemporary.. He really is one of, if not the best male kpop dancer of the 3rd generation. Highly suggest to check him out.

WayV, the Chinese subunit of NCT, had a project where WinWin and Ten (the guy who had a dance solo) got to choreograph their own dance. They did modern dance for the first time to Lovely by Billie Eilish & Khalid and I would love to hear your commentary! WinWin also trained in Chinese traditional dance so you can definitely see that in the choreography as well.
Ten, the guy who did the s shape can literally do every dance style. He is told to be one of the best dancers in kpop!

I love how she's not just "oH mY gOd I lOvE iT aLl!!" and actually says what she doesn't really like and what in her knowledge would work, I love learning new names of steps they do. Just in their defense, when you said they should've danced instead of just walking, those 4 seconds are a way for them to catch their breath because besides dancing they're also singing at the same time. Love your videos and reactions 💖💖

nct is broken into four sub-units and came together as a whole for this (although, wayv was not formed up). nct is described as an ever evolving group. more and more members will be added (at least that is how the company explained it). one of their units are nct u - check out 'seven sense', 'baby don't stop', and 'boss'. this unit is interchangeable, much like nct dream (which i will get to), and do not typically have the same members nor about of members for each comeback. the next sub-unit is nct 127 - i recommend 'fire truck', 'cherry bomb', 'chain', 'simon says', and 'superhuman'. they have a few more songs, but these are my favorites choreographies within this unit. a lot, but they have korean, english, and japanese songs. their third unit is nct dream, which is for the members who are in their teens as the youngest is seventeen at the moment, whereas the oldest is nineteen. once each member turns twenty, they 'graduate' from the group and go into another. while the other two groups have more of a 'edgy' concept, dream is more 'cute'. some of the dances that i find interesting are - 'chewing gum', '1,2,3', 'go', and 'we go up'. these are the three 'korean' based groups, as they promote in mainly korea. they have a fourth group callled, wayv which is their chinese group. this group was created about five months ago and have a couple dance practices - 'regular (chinese version)', 'come back (chinese version)', and 'take off'.
the dancer that you pointed out with the 's curve' is ten. he has a couple solo songs - 'dream in a dream' and 'new hero', and he was also on hit the stage. he is an amazing dancer. him and winwin (member of nct u, nct 127, and wayv) did a dance together using the song 'lovely' by billie eilish and khalid. winwin has trained in traditional Chinese dance, so his movements are very flowy and elegant, whereas ten has more of a hip hop background but he can do just about anything.
aside from the group dances, a few of them have done freestyle (mark and taeyong) as well as choreographed their own work (ten). also, yangyang, hendery and lucas (wayv) performed together using the song 'wow' by post malone. i hope this helps explain nct as a whole and that they stay on your radar dance wise!! looking forward for more of your videos. 🖤

You pointed out *both* some positives and negatives that you felt in regard to the video, which is surprisingly rare to see from reactors these days, and you put a lot of focus on all the aspects of the dance. it was really fun to watch and learn technical term and you explaining why a move was difficult (even though the guys make it seem effortless ) is very cool. even the influence S shape thing felt like i was learning something more than just it looked pretty :)
The one you saw in the beginning was Taeyong the overall leader & face of NCT even though they’re all visuals then Mark comes in after that Jisung the youngest in front of the triangle formation and now here’s Lucas then abit after TEN....
TEN did study classical, modern, contemporary dancing and a few others in NCT have too!

I love that you did an actual breakdown of the dance choreography and gave your honest opinion not caring about what people would say. Not like other "dancer reacts" who are like "woah, wow, that's cool, yaass slay, okay guys thanks for watching, that was the reaction guys" (not gonna say who tho). I like watching people constructively analyzing the videos and being honest with the reaction. Most people tend to fake their reaction and say only nice things to appeal the audience.

Unpopular opinion: My First and Last by NCT DREAM is still my favorite NCT choreography
Generally, I think that NCT Dream's choreo demans more dance abilities. Like, a lot of 127 choreos seem complicated but in reality their moves are not that hard and don't require to be a good dancer (like BOSS). To dance Dream choreos you gotta be quite good.
@@koalapayslater i think so too. 5 of 7 Dream member got some important moment in this black on black choreo. 3 member got center moment, 1 member did that floor dance in 2nd rap verse, and one member did that ballet spin. And for the other 2, well, they got pushed aside but placed in the front row in 1/3 of formation so i think their movement was good enough to at least didn't ruin it? Lol

At the beginning they were dancing in their sub units. They were lined to separated them by their "group" because there is so many members they all belong to a unit inside of the whole group which I guess makes it easier for all of them to show their talent through the music they make but they all come together to show how powerful they all are as a whole in this song/dance. This is what I get from the dance coming from my understanding of nct.

I agree with you. They could have done something intricate with all 18 members but only highlight the main dancers which I believe is their intention with Black on Black. Some of their other songs display the members more.

the one who had that solo is Ten, he is nct’s main dancer and he is soooo talented. you should really see more videos from my baby 🥺 his performances on HIT THE STAGE are lit, you can really see his type of dance and know more abt him. he has two solo songs too, one is called “Dream in a dream” which has a more “classical vibe” i think, but still, it’s freaking amazing. and the other one is called “New Heroes” it is a more upbeat song and the coreo is faster and so so so so good. both of them are incredible and i think you really would enjoy watching them! plus!!! Ten and Winwin made a choreography for billie eilish’s lovely, they made it all by their selfs, it’s really cool, you should check this one out too. love you reaction videos btw 🥰

My opinion to why they used their members as back up dancers in this choreography: I think that black on black is a song to show off NCT individually and as a group... I think in the moments where some members are in the back, not doing much, is maybe because the choreographer wanted the attention to be on the group of members in the foreground...
Or the choreographer could just be bad with stuff like that, idk lol

The guy you said you think is their main dancer in his solo section is Ten, he has some solo songs called New Heroes and Dream In a Dream. He also took part in Hit The Stage alongside other amazing idol dancers, he was by far the newest as it began less that 90 days after his debut in 7th Sense by NCT U. I would recommend watching his stages in chronological order started with Devils
The one doing the solo dance is Ten. Him and his group mate, winwin, have a contemporary style dance to Billie Eillish’s song Lovely and they designed and choreographed everything. You should definitely watch it
2 members of WayV (an nct sub unit) did a choreo to lovely by billie eilish and its amazing -- they are both trained dancers (winwin in traditional chinese dance and ten in contemporary i believe) and choreographed it them selves so they actually got to dance properly and show their talent rather than the dance to the group choreos (which are good but sometimes limiting for more classically trained dancers) - heres the link!! ua-cam.com/video/8ovHSQwp1n0/v-deo.html

something i wanted to say was:
you mentioned the formations the choreographers put the members into and i just had another thought; i think that’s what they were going for. it seems to me like this choreography is meant to be more “taunting”, like a “war cry” kind of a thing? in the beginning we see breathing together, almost like a huge animal, getting ready to attack. then we see the first roar, and we have those first five members dance first. after that we get another “attack” by the jump of the next five. the circling on the floor + floor work also gives me this kind of vibe. later we see that “castle” formation, and the ending was very strong. i won’t go into detail of every formation they go into because my comment would be extremely long, (EDIT: looking at it, it is very long 😂) but i think those straight line-up formations are also a part of the vibe the choreographers were going for. it reminds me of an army, how they’re always lined up before going to war? kind of showcasing how much force they have.
this was just a thought i had as a dancer+choreographer myself, and also one who spends too much time analyzing choreographies 😂

would just like to brag a little that the center at 6:35 is the youngest of the group, park jisung, who was born in 2002! he's an amazing dancer even putting his young age aside; you could watch his dancing high performances or his lemon dance challenge for an example of this!

getting into nct is also getting to know lots about dance lmao! i have a few things to say.
first, black on black has had two versions, one on mama 2016 (which is kind of an 'uncomplete ver' as at the time nct had less members and the song was shorter) and this one. might add that the 'dreamies' (nct dream, the youngest ones in nct) have lots of centers of this song!
second thing, the center of the first v formation is jisung, the youngest of the 21 members, a 02' liner! (when he was center in mama 2016, he was about 14-15 i think).
third thing, you pointed out that the member that had a solo may have had a more classical influence (thats ten, by the way!) and i think you'd like to see him dance that kind of 'style', so i'd recommend you his cover of 'lovely' with winwin! its really beautiful and it really accentuates that 'classical' side of him. ten also has a lot of selfmade choreos and he's considered one of the best dancers out of nct.
fourth, by the time black on black came out, nct had three debuted units (nct127, nct dream, nct u) and 18 members. actually, nct has 21 members, as three of them were added for the debut of the new unit wayv, so as nct has four active-ish units, they have A LOT of choreos! all with different concepts, so if you'll probably have a field day watching them lmao. my favs are superhuman (127), lovely (cover by wayv), baby don't stop (u) and we go up (dream).

(oh! also, i saw someone recommending ten's hit the stage stages, so i'd recommend 'the director'. it's my favorite because it really shows his elegant form of moving, his stage presence and his expressions, it's really good! i don't really like choreos that depend on having lots of backup dancers but this one is just WONDERFUL thanks to the backups making a great visual effect.)

nct 127 superhuman and nct dream we go up are two of my favorite nct choreographies! also seventeen’s boom boom and oh my are really fun!!
What i like about nct is that they're so rhythmic and use the music a lot, not every group has that. And i love that in Yuta especially.
i'm not that into reactions but this was so informative, i agree with you on about everything! hope you can do more reactions to ten, their main dancer, as i've completely fallen for the way he moves, as many have recommended he was part of 'hit the stage' a korean dance show where he combined classical/church music, instrumental and other kind of styles into his dance and it's truly fascinating! his self composed contemporary dance duett of khalid's song is also worth a view! thanks again, i really like the way you explain things and take your time :)

the member you said looked like he was influenced by paul taylor is ten. he is one of the main dancers and has a very classical style. I think you should definitely check out his dance videos (he has mulitple cover dances on top on his own two songs, new heroes and dream in a dream) and his hit the stage performances.
I would highly recommend dream in a dream and his devil hit the stage performance!
i totally agree with you! as much as i love the dance and the song i would've enjoyed it more if they took the advantage of having a huge amount of members to the full extent because theyre all such incredible dancers and seeing some of them just standing in some parts was such a shame when they couldve shown their own talent as much as the others also great reaction!

I understand your point and agree that I wish the choreographer would have chosen for the other members to being doing something rather than standing in the back. But I would just like to clarify that NCT have many separate units and this is their only song as of yet that they collectively perform as a whole. (There’s more members now so hopefully they’ll perform again) but they don’t always perform as a whole unit so I just hope you don’t get the wrong impression that this is a recurring theme in all their songs maybe it was just because it was their first time that the choreographer didn’t know what to do with the backup although he should know but hopefully for their next performance they do even better
They weren’t using them as probs at all, the members were taking turns dancing while introducing their subunits NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream even though they were a mixer of all NCT units together and for a few of them there’s was their official debut of being part of NCT from SMRookies and they all started dancing toward the middle of the choreography but they all still took turns.
There's this dance show called hit the stage, and the person you saw doing the solo is in there, his name is ten (full name chittaphon leechaiyapornkul) and he's a great dancer some of his dances are on there along with other great dancers such as taemin, I'd think you might enjoy it!

basically the concept of nct in this presentation is to demonstrate all the power of nct in one, as nct is a group composed of many members and also is divided into sub-units should be strengthened as a single group.
You're an amazing reactor, and most likely a great student in your major as well! Us NCTzens are very satisfied with you seeing the full choreo, and although i just dance for the hobby of it, i agree with the creative formations opinion. The one you pointed out as the main dancer is Ten, and I think you can really call him one of the main dancers, his talent speaks for himself. He has some solo videos that I really recommend you, like "Dream in a Dream" dance practice or Taki Taki but where I think he shone the most was during Hit The Stage. Hit The Stage was a dance competition show where an idol was paired with a dance crew and they had to make a choreography with an imposed theme. Ten was paired with Prepix and more than their dance skills they had to put a performance including some acting/emotions plus costumes. Hard to react to it because of copyright (except for DEVILS wich have a dance practice on "SMTOWN" channel), but I think you'd enjoy it on your own, even the performances with others idols. He is definitevly inspired by contemporary style, like in his duo with Winwin (another NCT/WayV member). In a different style Baby Don't Stop (with NCT Taeyong) is interesting too.
Sorry for this long message, it's because in my opinion he really is one of the best kpop dancer out there and I'm really amazed by his pure talent. But that doesn't mean he's the only one in NCT being really talented, they're are some really good dancers in this group. But I agree 100% percent they don't use full potential of their large number.

I like that you took the time to watch the whole video! I do think that compilation video didn't highlight a lot of the choreos that it showed very well at all tbh. I really enjoy how you take the time to explain the comments you make and explain the movements of some of the steps you're naming :)
NCT Black on Black it's one of my favorite choreografies. Amazing video. I highly recommend you to watch VIXX dance practices (ShangriLa, Fantasy, Scentist, Voodoo Doll, Black Out *no dance practice, but it's amazing performance*, etc.) They're amazing.

Actually this is the only song where some members line up in the back for a bit. NCT is a pretty huge group but they operate in subunits and don't really promote together. There will be an off chance every year for a "promotional song" each year (I guess) like this NCT 2018 one to show that these were the members actively promoting under NCT in this year. You should check out dance practices of the separate units. Also I would recommend you watching Ten and Winwin's choreography to Billie Eilish and Khalid's Lovely
I was lowkey sad to see black on black as it isnt nct's more harder choreographies, but what I would like to see is Ten (the one whom you said mightve been experienced in modern dance to which he claimed he always wanted to learn but never was taught) on HIT THE STAGE. also his choreography that him and another member of nct (and my whole ass baby boy, winwin) made to lovely by billie eilish and khalid. it showcases nct's true ass talent!!! skdkdkdjcjdk
