  • Eastern Exposure: A Chesapeake Story is a VERY rare, but well-known documentary on the town of Crisfield Maryland that originally aired in December 1992. It was never released on DVD and no other digital copy is known to exist. This was uploaded by Modulation Studios from a 26-year-old VHS that was copied from a television airing. VHS was in somewhat deteriorated condition but was processed through a high-end VHS with some color correction and other digital clean up. The copy included some commercials from Tysons Corner Center, Toyota, and Exxon which were not edited out for nostalgic reasons.
Contains footage from National Hard Crab Derby Events, local businesses, stories by local watermen, business owners, and local personalities.
Produced by Ron Ling, Mike Mannarino, and John O. Goldsmith (host). WUSA-TV.
No copyright claim is made from this upload and all rights are reserved for respected holders. Uploaded under clause for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing.

Saw this awhile ago but forgot to thank moderator of "Modulation Studios" for posting. Even though films like this and An Island Out of Time bring me next to tears. Don't ever change, Bayfolk. The world needs you.

This was great. I was in crisfield a few weeks ago and it’s exactly the same...except even more has closed. The old commercials were almost the best part.

I love the Chesapeake communities. They represent a beautiful and bittersweet pastime of a bygone era.

Me too.....as my husband and I were there in 1981 on our honeymoon. Still cherish my books, correspondence from Laura Somers ..... a special friend we made while there, and all things I saved to look upon once again some day. Looks like today was the day and I am back there in my mind once more!

My pleasure. I'm very into local history and was very surprised that no library on the shore even had a copy of this.

I grew up in Wenona till I was 7 with my grandparents Capt.Zack Taylor then moved to Westover until 13 ,Went to Crisfield high school in 10 th grade Transferred to Washington high the night we played Crisfield I had 11 straight foul shots in second half to win the Ballgame ended up with 17 against Tim Tawes and Steve Tull .Remember playing basketball in Marion with Denise Sterling ,she was really nice to me.She was a very good ball player.

Nicely done! I was in Crisfield to pick up a boat around 2008 and LOVED the drive-thru beer store. I hope I can get back there again next year.

I was born here. Lived in Pocomoke City. But grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I was fortunate enough to have family in Pocomoke and worked on the boardwalk in Ocean City. Love the Shore.

Hello fellow Marylander! I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore. Kent Island, Sudlersville, lived in several places. Now I live in the Shenandoah Valley as well. Mt Jackson here! I got home about 4 weeks ago for a funeral. The place is so different I hardly knew where I was.

This was posted on Facebook as well and had a few thousand views and hundreds of comments. Some people still live in the area. I was about 8 years old when this first came out and know a lot of the kids in the video. I'm in the town about once a week and still see faces. Gordon's is still popular!

I moved here, just before Sandy, in 2012. I love it, for it's eccentricity. Believe it or not, there's a strong art movement happening in Crisfield.
