That's an interesting way to set, thanks for showing us your technique. Have just been enjoying your videos, I like seeing how different people go about their lives in different parts of the world. Subbed you, i see you have ol' Muskrat on board, he's quite a character isn't he..his boys are neat guys too!! Cheers from Manitoba Jeff.
+yukonjeffimagery Yeah you need quite many holes in the ice even though the net doesn't look long. But obviously it's long enough when looking at the catch :)
+VK Yea if it was smooth ice I would not have needed so many holes, there is a lot of slush underneath the broken ice.And our under ice nets are usually quite a bit smaller than our salmon nets.
that's a good way to set a net with the pop up jugs I'm going to do that next time I set a net. those little loch we usually throw back unless we are going to use them in bait
+Pine island Brian Ha Ha ! Yes I have stepped in the middle holes a few times, if they don't freeze right away, I forget they are there, especially after a fresh snow, and its deep and dark down there, a place you never want to go :)
+yukonjeffimagery Now that I actually know what an" ice jigger is" :) .....it would not work on the broken ice and slush I just set in, and the strong current of the Yukon would probably take it downstream as well.
+yukonjeffimagery they will work in rough ice it just may go off a different way, and worse case scenario you drill a hole every 30 feet if you need. and you have a rope tied to it you won't loose it to the current. but hey if you have all the time in the world and you like drilling all those holes then there's nothing wrong with it.

That's an interesting technique with the pop up things. Nice catch also :)

+muskrat411 Its pretty easy if its on thin smooth ice . Folks here would slap me upside the head if they saw me throwing them back :)
We like the Big females for loch liver and eggs. My boy and his friends just took off muskox hunting
Me I'm still stuck at home with seal finger.
+yukonjeffimagery it was from a cut while I was skinning the wolverine and beaver. Check out last couple videos
ahh.. I see yes be carful ,they can get infected and nasty, will do.
in your lifetime how many of those holes have you stepped in?:-) my luck is not that good.....
+Pine island Brian Ha Ha ! Yes I have stepped in the middle holes a few times, if they don't freeze right away, I forget they are there, especially after a fresh snow, and its deep and dark down there, a place you never want to go :)
howcome you dont just use a ice jigger instead. there cheap. and hundred's time's faster then this.?
+outlandoutfitting I catch all I need with my net and have all the time in the world :)No ice jiggers here.

Under the broken ice is foot or two of unfrozen slush, I figure it would just get stuck.
