    Hello, thank you for your great videos. I'd like to ask- is it enough to cut white wire for the higher power output or the jumper must be moved too? I don't need an expanded channels, just power. Thank you in advance and 73!

      You need to do both as the jumper sets the radio into high power mode on the software side and then wire enables the higher power on the electronic side. If you cut the wire and leave the jumper then the radio remains in standard configuration using the standard power profiles. Hope this help and thanks for watching. MJ7NLK

    The President Truman ASC Premium is the little brother of the Harry III. Same design, same case and same high Uniden-quality but less features by the Truman-model.
    + sold from 2009-2021 (2016-2021 with japanese 455KHz-muRata-Filter)
    + high build Quality made by Uniden Vietnam (Truman and Harry III are the last models which Uniden produced for President until 2021!!!)
    + EU- Multinorm on 6 bands with 4W FM and/ or 4W AM, UK-channels (Muppets) in FM
    + stable metal-case which doesnt get much warm after hours of transmission
    + ANL and hight quality 455 KHz muRata-Filter inside
    + sensitive and very good receiption
    + adjustable automatic and manual Squelch
    + third generation President-ASC (scratches, noises and too weak signals get filtered out)
    + loud and clear Modulation especially on AM
    + great sound quality by big internal speaker
    + good readable big orange display with excellent digital S-Meter (6 segments)
    + clear structured "oldschool" design with three well working dials and two buttons
    + easy to use for everybody, nearly self explaining
    + ideal for all who want quality instead of pointless and expensive features
    + price in Europe now 69-79€ (if still available), former price was 109€ in Germany
    - ploppy manual squelch
    - O-Mike without Up- and Down (tipp: U/D-Electret-Microfone under 20€: Komunica DM-520 U/D 6pol, looks like "President-Egg" but with better more clear and loud modulation)
    - needs some alignment for the maximum Power- and FM-Deviation allowed
    The President Truman ASC Premium looks good, works well and has its own charme of a basic but quality CB-radio. Price/value is awesome and sell out very soon!
    Thanks for the video about the President Truman ASC Premium, the history of this US-President, quite funny jokes, short outdoor-test and your own point of view. The only I dont understand that you rated the Harry III very high earlier and the little brother Truman you downgraded and recommend instead a Barry II. A Barry II is quite different, approx. 30€ more expensive and the latest nearly full featured CB-generation which based on software programes, really not to compare with the older basic Truman which has charme and other specific qualities.
    The Truman was produced over 10 years, so it was and is still a sucessful and very good radio for the little price. Thousands of CB-folks bought that radio in the more than 10 years of production and upgrades. Which other radio was over 10 years in the shelfs? I dont know any other model or brand.
    However, I own the Truman and latest Teddy II ASC. Both are President's current basic AM/ FM-radios which work great and are worth the money for sure.
    Vy 10-10, Gordon

      Hi Gordon and thanks for the history on this radio which is very helpful. The Barry 2 is about £10 more and has front USB, Vox, talk back, 12 + 24 v, Public address, noise limiter, multi colour display, etc. it’s about the same size and you get far more features for the small uplift in cost. Although the Truman’s screen is more readable in my opinion.
      All President radios are high quality and the Uniden made units were exceptional. My favourite President Radio is the Richard / Walker and for +£30 on top of the Barry it’s a price worth paying. The recommendation also reflects stock availability with the Barry being a current unit. President have even removed all material on the Truman from their site. Moonraker have a good stock and have discounted to £70 so grab them quick before they are gone.
      I ran out of time in the end, as these videos take ages to produce, so squeezed in a quick audio test as you had requested :-)
      I really do appreciate the feedback and information so thank you for taking the time to comment.
      All the best. MJ7NLK

    On this day in history, in 1545, the French tried to capture the isle of Wight but were defeated. Seems to be a pattern there. On the radio stuff: my Midland M20 had an identical wire jumper. It wouldn't put out more than 2.5w until the jumper wire was cut. A lot of the modern radios don't seem able to do 4w without modification.

      Hi Gordon, I do hope you are well. Hopefully my humour is ok and viewers get it. I can see France on most days from here, its very close, so just playful banter and no offence is intended, I hope it made you laugh or at least rasied a smile. I have just purchased a Midland M20 and M30 and will be reviewing them after the current backlog. I think I have the President Taylor 4 and Lincoln 2+ left and then a CRT2000H and then the Midlands. Finding the time in the summer (I have 4 kids) is not easy and the videos take quite a bit of time to put together but fun. 4W is the legal limit so there wont be any CB radios in stock form pushing more than 4W. It will be interesting to tackle the Midlands and see what is available under the bonnet. All the best and thanks for commenting.

      @@NLKMediaGroup Here are my thoughts on the M20: Although it has a rotary channel change it is very stiff and there is no grip on the knob. What it needs is a flat sided channel change like the old Rotels. The USB socket is pretty pointless as it does not provide enough current to charge a modern smartphone. This is the same for a lot of the CB radios with USB sockets on the front. Finally I couldn't get more than 3.5w out of mine. It was 3.1 out of the box and with the power level pot turned right up I got 3.5. Eventually I cut the wire and the power jumped to 6w. I was then able to turn it back down to 4w. Again, this seems common in a lot of modern radios where they want them to pass an Ofcom spot check on import. I know that 3.5-4w is really nothing in dB, but I felt short changed.

    What do you recommend in this price range with a Roger beep?

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  2 роки тому

      Hi, the Truman was about £85 as they were shifting the last of the stock, its been discontinued now. Knights Electrocom are out of stock now and so are Moonraker. However, Radio World has 1 left at the moment but i have never used them before so cannot vouch for them. You could always try your luck on ebay. Search around and see what you can find. All the best and thanks for watching

      @@NLKMediaGroup sorry if bad english, I'm french, my question was not about the Truman, you said it was too bad that it didn't have Roger beep, so which one have it for under 100 bucks

      Hi iShift, for under £100 i would have to say the President Barry 2 which is a solid radio. However, an expanded President Richard for £149 is a great deal at the moment if you have a Ham radio license. If you do not then pushing the budget to get its CB equivalent, a President Walker 2, would be a great move. If you want a single side band radio then the only option in the CB bands from President is the President McKinley but that comes at a cost. All radios mentioned have been reviewed on my channel. The CRT 2000H is also worth a look at around £120. If your looking for a CB radio only and can push the budget the Walker 2 is a lovely radio.
      Translation to French which may not be very accurate
      Salut iShift, pour moins de 100 £, je devrais dire le président Barry 2 qui est une radio solide. Cependant, un président Richard élargi pour 149 £ est une bonne affaire pour le moment si vous avez une licence de radio amateur. Si vous ne poussiez pas alors le budget pour obtenir son équivalent CB, un President Walker 2, ce serait une excellente initiative. Si vous voulez une radio à bande latérale unique, la seule option dans les bandes CB du président est le président McKinley, mais cela a un coût. Toutes les radios mentionnées ont été passées en revue sur ma chaîne. Le CRT 2000H vaut également le détour à environ 120£. Si vous recherchez uniquement une radio CB et que vous pouvez augmenter votre budget, le Walker 2 est une belle radio.

    On band c channel 33 do you get the 0s you could reach 27.780 and just get 19fm

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  Рік тому +1

      Hi DX Chaser, You need band block B, channel 33 and enable the T0 mode to get 27.780. President have a weird band block methodology where Block C is Inferior, A is Normal and C is Superior. So, challed 33 in Inferior Block C is 26.885, Normal is 27.335 and Inferior is 27.785. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

    What happens if you cut the wire but leave the jumper and vice versa

    • @NLKMediaGroup
      @NLKMediaGroup  Рік тому +1

      Hi DX Chaser, the jumper enables the additional frequencies and expands the radio which (dependent on radio) also gives it a small power boost. Cutting the wire gives it "all the beans" on the power front. However, cutting the wire and keeping the jumper in the 1+2 position keeps the radio in standard state. With the Bill 2 cutting the wire and jumping the jumper gives it a power boost and expands the frequencies but does not enable high power mode. You have to solder a wire on the PCB to do that. I need to do a video on this. So, the answer to your question is above but there are differences on some of the radios. Expand and cut the wire to fully expand and move the jumper back to restrict again. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
