Back in May 2017, I got one done after unexplained nausea when eating, constipation, and weight loss. I drove 75 miles to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where I stayed for the night. Mom stayed with me and everybody else was at home. The next day, I wanted to go home and was told I had to get an endoscopy done. I was nervous, but it found something! My lower intestines were inflamed and sore from a stomach flu I had two months prior. I was sent home the same day. After taking medication, I was back to normal! So don’t be scared! If you need it done, remember this story and don’t lose hope!
I am a Medical Assistant at our hospital and my youngest will be having one Wednesday due to complications before and after a surgery. This was the best thing I've come across to show her the procedure in a way she will understand with a visual. Thank you so much 💓💓💓
Guys don't be nervous, I just had mine today! It it was not bad at all! Worse part for people could be Iv but im used to it so it didn't hurt, just a small poke..But they bring u in this nice big room and give u something which I didn't know which kinda made my arm cold. But I was nervous then next thing u know im sleep back in the other room. I also was givin a choice for a little snack and I got a popsicle..Good luck!
I just had it with conscious sedation. I was super scared and cried during the whole procedure (despite under sedation lol) but not because it was hurt but i was just too anxious. So I encourage yall to get it done and don’t ve scared! This will help your doctor identify the cause of your symptoms better and its worth everything :)))
I don’t remember it that much but when i had one (i’ve had multiple but i can’t remember them that well) i got to leave as soon as i woke up. they just got my release papers, removed my IV, and i left. but it may be different for other people.
@@jjrainbowss7152 first off i got their then we went to the surgery center then I was nervous but the nurses were so nice and asked me what I was scared of and I told them I have emetephobia so they helped me get extra nausea medicine into my iv I had a choice to choose what anesthesia my family wanted me to get so I go the regular one and they put the iv in and so I wouldn’t feel the pain they put something that vibrated my arm and they put a liquid inside the iv to help me get something in my body they needed that liquid to be in my body idk why but yeah,The liquid made my arm feel like I had ants crawling up my arm. Then they left for about 30 minutes while they finished the other endoscopy but then the anesthesiologist came in and put my anesthesia in and they took me to a room while they were taking me to the room they were asking me questions like how old I was to see if I was asleep. (It was the such a good nap😂)next thing I remember is they woke me up and gave me water so I drank some and I coughed like about 2 times and then I don’t remember anything I think I fell asleep again. Then I was in the room where my mom was and the nurses asked me if I felt ok and if had nausea I told her I felt really comfortable so we waited in the room for about 10 minutes and then I got dressed and they brought me in a week chair to the car and I felt normal then I was hungry because I had to fast so we got food and it was like a normal day! Hope this helped I don’t know if you were asking this or not but this was my story😁 also good luck trust me it’s not that bad as it seemed! In a week or month I’m not sure but they have a check up appointment to see your results. I’m actually really sorry if this wasn’t what you wanted to tell me but feel free to askme questions!
@@jasminrabadan1584 thanks also we kinda have the same name (my name is Jasmine) but yeah I’m just nervous because I have some anxiety and even the flu shot makes me soooo nervous, not only this but i need to get a covid test on wednesday in order to even do it :(
@@jjrainbowss7152 yes that’s so cool we almost have the same name! I was also scared about the COVID test but are you aloud to get the spit test? I just had my upper GI endoscopy It didn't hurt at all. They put me to sleep in the OR by gave me anaesthesia through iv and after the procedure was over I got up in recovery room. I didn't even feel a sore throat or anything..
My doctor wants me to get one and I’m absolutely terrified. I’ve had a stomach condition for three years and they want to try and find what it is, I’m only 16 but I’m so nervous. In the UK they use full anaesthesia until kids are 19 but I’m still so scared.
@@jasminrabadan1584 yeah, see in England, they want to put me asleep for it so I don’t feel anything but I’m still terrified. Got no idea what I’m going to do. I hope yours goes well for you ❤️❤️
@@zak29488 I had mine done last Wednesday in England. All went fine I’m just waiting on my biopsy results to come back now. If you’re getting general anaesthetic you won’t remember a thing. All you’ll remember is going in and being looked after and then you get put to sleep and wake up when it’s all over. It went absolutely fine for me. Wishing you well and let me know how you get on ❤️❤️
It isn't as bad, I've had mine and it is like a buring sensation but don't be nervous because it should he done quick. But when I did my I would rate the pain about a 6
It shouldn't be as bad. I had bad stomach pains and I had to get mines done. It isnt as bad. They basically put you to sleep and you wont even remember the procedure happening itself. It's really quick as a blink of an eye. But you will feel soreness from your throat and will feel very tired n weak after the surgery which you'll be needed to be driven home.
I’m 22 I don’t know if I should go to my appointment that’s coming up so soon. With this Covid thing it’s making me extra nervous. But I want to get better .
Just go they do screening and check temps so boo one with symptoms can go in u take a face mask they have sanitizer every where and they do not treat or see corona patients in the area that they did escopys. You should not neglect your health it could worsen
I’m 11 and I have terrible anxiety but I have a tyroid issue whatcha cuz of it I have celiac disease witch means I don’t get the protein I need so I gain weight and it can cuz cancer if I don’t get help so if the doctor wants me too I might have to get an upper endoscopy
I hope that you will get better and I also suffer with anxiety as well , sometimes my anxiety is really bad and I am decades older than you sometimes I still feel like a child and my dad comes with me to my appointments and I’m also a mom , You will be ok I am praying for you and everyone just think of positive and think of things that make you happy good luck always speak and think positive thoughts. Thanks so much I got the upper endoscopy turns out I don’t have celiac disease but now I have to get blood work -.- too see if I am gluten intolerant but for my thyroid I’m gonna have it my whole life but I’m taking medication for it so it under control for now
